Download the free task manager and run it to remove apps that should not be running on your watch. Sometimes I can see two different watch faces running in the back round. This is a must have app for your watch! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rocketstartups.weartaskmanager&hl=en
Go to Google play store and download the app task manager for android wear. This is a must and you will be able to shut off apps that should not be running and will make your watch sluggest or drain your battery. Just click close all and only the blue line apps will come back because they are the good system apps. This app is free and is a must for any android wear watch at this time. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rocketstartups.weartaskmanager&hl=en
With any android watch I would recommend downloading the free task manager for android wear. It is a must have. I've used it on my Asus and my Huawei smart watches. If you notice after some time that your battery is depleting faster than usual. Fire up task manager on your watch and you will see the apps running in the background. You can kill them, your android system apps will come right back up and you will see your battery go back to normal drain. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rocketstartups.weartaskmanager
I always recommend to newbies that they download the free Task Manager for Android wear on Google play store. This Task manager will allow you to kill apps that are running on your watch and draining the battery. The blue lines are system apps and will pop up running again. This is normal. Its a must have app for any android wear watch. Enjoy your watch! Here is the link:

This one worked on Wear 1.5, but hasn't listed the open apps since Wear 2.0, so the way it was retrieving them must have been deprecated: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rocketstartups.weartaskmanager
Side note: Apparently apps are not permitted to run in the background in the newest WearOS. I'm not sure if Google will provide a method to circumvent this, or if it will be required for all apps.
I don't know if it's really helping, but I feel better after launching and running this app on my phone. May as well turn off the ok google detect, but either pressing to activate or hearing your voice both are dog slow. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rocketstartups.weartaskmanager
Do you use the free task manager? Maybe an app running on your watch that is affecting your Bluetooth connection? Try it, you will be able to see what apps are running on your watch and kill them. The android system apps (blue ones) will come back up. LMK if it works for you...

I agree with homeslixe. Give it time to upgrade. Next you must download the free task manager. This will allow you to kill certain watch faces and apps that are not suppose to run on your watch. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rocketstartups.weartaskmanager&hl=en
Next you will find some watch faces and launcher apps draw more battery drain. Trick is to find the best watch face for you. I use watch faces by HuskyDEV and Thema. Both very good developers, and both types of watch faces have built in launchers with little battery drain. I wake up at 4:30am. At 5:am I am heading to work, by 1pm I am at 80% by 9pm I am at 60 to 70 % depending on my watch usage. That's my day. Love the watch!
Also try downloading the free task manager app. It will show you which apps are running on your watch and allow you to kill them with out doing a reset of the watch. Sometimes you can have two watchfaces running on your watch and it will draw from the battery. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rocketstartups.weartaskmanager&hl=en
Load the free app Task manager for google wear in the play store. When you notice that the watch battery is draining. Just open this app and press close all and it will close apps that are draining your battery. The blue lines are system apps which will reappear and are ok. This works for me and this is a must app for any wear watch! Here is the link:

Thank you. Your thread reads like the log of a foundering ship. :( For the past 36 hours, no unexplained heart rate sensor lights. Here's what I've done:
Made sure 'Google Fit' was (still) not installed on my phone (including 'Fit Activity' on the Watch.)
Opened the 'Fit' Watch app and turned the app 'off' on its settings screen.
Opened the Watch 'Settings' app, opened the 'permissions' screen, and revoked all permissions for the 'Fit' app (location, sensors.)
Installed 'Task Manager for Android Wear' from the Play Store. I can see the 'Fit' app is still resident despite everything above. I'll keep an eye on it; if the green lights come on, I'll use this to kill tasks one by one to see if I can identify the culprit that way. Here's the link to Task Manager: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rocketstartups.weartaskmanager&hl=en_GB
Download the free Task Manager for Android wear. You will be able to see which apps are running on your watch and stop them. Before Task Manager I would unpair the watch which took quite a while to let the apps reload. Here's the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rocketstartups.weartaskmanager&hl=en
No, down load the free task manager for Android wear. It will allow you to see which apps are running on your watch and stop them. Note the apps with the blue lines will start up again. This is normal because they are Android system apps. The ones with white lines are the ones you want to stop. I just press close all and you should see a major difference in battery drain. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rocketstartups.weartaskmanager&hl=en. I typically pull my huawei watch off the charger at 5am and by 1pm I'm still at 80%. That's with viewing/ receiving many texts and emails and some short phone calls.
so, long story short:
ps: mine behaves quite nicely since a couple of days... ^fingers ^crossed
I've had this happen as well - check the wear app for the watch battery usage and see what's draining it. there is a task manager available for wear now, if it's a third party app that's draining the battery, you can try killing it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rocketstartups.weartaskmanager&hl=en
Otherwise, yeah - try restarting the watch.
I think he refers to Task Manager for Android Wear https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rocketstartups.weartaskmanager Saludos

Don't forget to download the free Task manager for wear: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rocketstartups.weartaskmanager&hl=en
I use Task Manager for Android Wear, but you probably found this too using seach in the Play Store.

Also every android wear device should use Task Manager for Android wear. It is free and a must have app! Why? If suddenly you notice that your battery is draining faster than usual, you can fire up Task Manager on your watch and see what is running that should no be there and kill it or kill all apps and let only the blue system apps come right back. Did this this the other day and noticed programs running in the backround that should not be there! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rocketstartups.weartaskmanager&hl=en
Do you have a ton of shit running on your watch? This is the task manager app I use, if you need one.
Have you used Google Maps navigation? -> Restart the watch/use Task Manager for wear to force close it Is your watch on WIFI? -> Reconnect to your phone/disable wifi in your watches settings, wifi and set from auto to off Is your phone syncing watch faces/wear apps? -> Stop installing new wear apps/watch faces
