If you're running these games without the aid of a virtual tabletop (like Roll20, Fantasy Grounds, or Foundry), I highly recommend picking up the Android app Squire 5e and shelling out the five bucks or however much it is to unlock the Pro version with all the GM tools. It speeds up combat so much and it makes the NPC and monster stats much easier to access. The only downside is that it only contains the systems reference document (SRD) material, so you'll have to enter any spells, classes/subclasses, monsters, etc. that aren't freely available in that document by hand.

Squire is amazing. I swear by it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.herd.squire
It only has SRD5 content, because that's how you make it legal, but extra content can always be added either by creating it yourself or importing from other sources. And the developer is very good at responding to feedback from what I've seen and heard, and semi frequently adds new features.
Probably too late to weigh in, but go Android, and pick up Squire Pro for SRD compliant character management, with the option to import "homebrew" material. If not Squire Pro, then the standard Squire is next best. There are also great apps for companions, monsters, spells, and treasure. A lot of that is covered in Squire Pro, especially once you fill in the gaps left by the SRD, but I find it's nice to have certain things at my finger tips.
