You can check it out on mobile (android) with my app!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nebulights.thebutton
It's also open source and available at https://github.com/babramovitch/TheButton
And for those worried - I don't, and cannot press your button. I would need your credentials to do so, and my app never asks for them.
I'll be open sourcing my app when I get home tonight, fully functional, so you can fork it or see how certain things were done. Never worked with pull requests before but not opposed to good changes.

See the timer in your status bar. Set a custom alert time, with a custom tone.
*If someone could add this to the new wiki that would be super awesome =)
I've been thinking of writing one that shows the price in your status bar, with a user chosen update frequency, is that something you and the community would use?
Basic feature set would be
price in status bar / persistent notification
updates every x minutes
few feed options
alert at price
I wrote The Button app years ago during the April fool's time, it would be similar, but less battery intensive since it's not updating every second.

If it makes you feel better, I too am limited to what I can purchase/use from the Google Play store. Blackberry 10, while being able to utilise many Android applications, is unable to run most applications that require the Google Play Services. :/
What you can do is for certain locate an IRC application and optionally take part by sideloading a monitoring application to keep you aware of what's currently ongoing! Here's one of the better observation apps. MEGA Sideload APK.
As I've never used a Kindle or Fire Phone, I'm not quite sure if the notification services will correlate across to make it work, but it should hopefully at least provide basic functionality. :)
I'm working on this, but it wasn't as simple as it should be. I think every time I updated the color (every time the websocket gave an update) it was beginning to meld the colors between the stages. It looked horrrrrible, and was completely unreliable.
I believe if I cancel the notification entirely and make a new one, it will work. I can only do this when the screen is off or it would be very very irritating =)
If it can be done well, I'll get it done this weekend as an option

Let me know if somethings not working correctly or anything. Also, if you need a really good Android app, check out TheButton by /u/NebuLights which has some amazing features like custom ringtone notification, Android Dream and LED color indicators!
This Android application let's you keep an eye on /r/thebutton while you're on the go and don't want to open a browser just to see the current status of the button (you may use a custom reddit app anyway).

Be sure to check out TheButton by /u/NebuLights, which does the same job, but with very cool additional features, such as changing LED and Android Dream mode. :)
My understanding is that this is it:
