The Android app (Deadhead Archives) is terrific. My only beef is that you can only make playlists of individual songs, not entire shows (although you can kind of do it by favoriting shows).
What kind of phone do you have? I'm an Android guy and have used Deadhead Archives as my archive.org access app for a while now without incident. Relisten seems to be the consensus best app for the job on iOS, but I can't personally vouch for it.
Try this to see if it breaks your addiction. You can download shows, for all sorts of bands not just GD, to play offline.

To piggyback on this response... Archive is great for finding and listening to shows: https://archive.org/details/GratefulDead
Depending on your phone OS, there are also apps that allow you look up shows and stream them from archive.org. https://relisten.net/ is great for desktop or iOS, and https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.crabdance.jmw.deadheadarchives is good for Android, though I think a redditor has recently released their own app for streaming.
If you are wanting to start collecting shows locally, then you need to learn about torrenting and trackers. Basically, it is peer to peer distributed file sharing, so downloads are usually really fast (depending on your connection).
Lossless Legs, The Trader's Den and Dimeadozen are some pretty good trackers. You can also check out http://bt.etree.org to find torrents, though I would use https://etreedb.org for up-to-date setlists and shnids. There was a falling out with the etree and etreedb folks a little while back and etreedb is more accurate these days.
I can't help you with playlists, spotify or youtube links, as I don't use spotify, and I don't watch a lot of Dead concerts on youtube (I don't have the time unfortunately).
The best years? That's really subjective, but for me it has to be 72-74, with a shout out to '77. Beyond just being great shows, the recordings (usually) are super good.
If you are on android, I use the Deadhead Archive app. It is a little wonky but works.
The Deadhead Archives, a must have for any fan of the Grateful Dead.

If you use Android, I recently discovered Deadhead Archives, which basically uses archive.org and filters it down to just the dead (and optionally side and other jam bands if you want).
I'm a huge Phish fan and there are streaming sites that you can play almost any show on demand. I went looking for the dead equivalent, and this is it!
EDIT: I also use this site to look at shows/setlists first when I'm figuring out what I'm in the mood for: Deadlists Project, and finally this site to see official releases by year to see if there are soundboards available (ie from my google play music subscription) rather than AUD recordings....
Enjoy!
