Notes:
Good post. Most people don't realize you can triangulate with only 2 points instead of 3, because you already know what direction it is to.
I use the tracking toolkit app for Android to help see exactly where the 200m is. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cow.pastvre.pokemongomap
If you use Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cow.pastvre.pokemongomap
Just tap "I see it" when the Pokemon is on your tracker, walk backwards for 10-15s until it disappears, tap "I don't see it", then do a "T" formation by heading directly to the green shaded area, then turn left/right. If you don't find it, go in the opposite direction to complete the "T" formation.
But yeah, they really need to focus on working on the in-game tracker.
Try using this app for next time. I've used it to track some pokemon, and it really worked. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cow.pastvre.pokemongomap&hl=en&referrer=utm_source%3Dgoogle%26utm_medium%3Dorganic%26utm_term%3Dtracking+tool+for+pokemon+go&pcampaignid=APPU_1_SigBWJrWCcHa-QG587_YBQ

Unfortunately it doesn't have a layover for creating "seen" and "not seen" circles
There's also this one.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.github.nikom87.pokefinder
It has the nice layover, but unfortunately doesn't allow for multiple "seen" reports, which is a pity, b/c I use multiple "seen" and "not seen" reports to severely narrow down the Pokémon location to a single point.
I seem to be able to make it work in downtown Toronto. It's harder than an open field but still works.
Stuff like Tracking Tool for Pokemon GO will help a lot. Visualizes the 200m range and then allows you to place other data points when you move to the edge. Does the visualization work for you.
Also has an in-game overlay so you're not switching between apps. Works like a charm, doesn't break terms of service.
I just recently had the same problem with Scyther, but found it within 5 minutes using my bike and this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cow.pastvre.pokemongomap
No, I am not in anyway connected to the app, but it is really useful to narrowing the location down. And yes, it is (or should be) legal, it is NO tracker and does not connect in any way to Niantic's servers.
If you ever want to track a pokemon try this app, it's my favorite thus far. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cow.pastvre.pokemongomap&hl=en&referrer=utm_source%3Dgoogle%26utm_medium%3Dorganic%26utm_term%3Dtracking+tool+for+pokemon+go&pcampaignid=APPU_1_SigBWJrWCcHa-QG587_YBQ
Is there a difference to already existing tools/apps like "Tracking Tool for Pokemon Go" (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cow.pastvre.pokemongomap)? Despite it's 3.3 rating the tool works great for me, has an ingame overlay and utilises (as far as I can see) the same method used by the web-tool discussed here. Please note: I do not intend to advertise the aforementioned app, I am interested in possible differences, so I can choose the better.
Hmm...origional post disapeared....anyways I use an app called 'Tracking Tool for Pokemon Go'...completely legit and TOS friendly. Its a stand alone map app where you place markers for when said pokemon appears or disapears from the sightings list. App triangulates the position based on this data. Its not 100% but if used right its pretty damn effective...oh and it wont get you banned.

A venn tracker is a page or app that allows you to draw circles on the map (not the in-game map: another map in the app or page). You tell the app to draw a blue circle when a Lapras appears, and a red circle when it disappears from sightings. Eventually you can narrow the area by a lot: anything that's red or purple has no Lapras. If there are more than one blue circle, Lapras is where they overlap.
A good one is The Silph Road tracker, which uses grass instead of blue circles.
Or, if you preffer an app, I personally used to use this one. It overlays on the screen so you don't have to change tabs. The game was really fun thanks to that app (or anything simmilar). You could track pokémon without feeling you were just wandering around aimlessly. That is, until we got the ~~Nearby~~ Faraway pokéstop tracker. I miss the fun of hunting :(
I've been using this app and it's the exact same one as silph road's,but this one is an overlay, which you can use on top of pokemon go.
This is much more complicated than it needs to be.
The app should draw the entire circumference in the screen. Like this app does: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cow.pastvre.pokemongomap&hl=en
This way, in 99% of the cases you can find the exact point the pokémon is by the intersection of 2 circunferences + the direction you were walking when the pokémon disappeared. Example: https://puu.sh/r8L8P/7ee07c2f2a.png
With the way the current app on TSR works, you'd need more than just 2 points to narrow it down. Because it's hard to tell where the intersection point is. So this app makes tracking much harder than it needs to be. Using the Android app I linked, I usually find about anything I ever try to track in under 5 minutes.
I just had a Gengar pop up this morning in the nearby window and found it using my bike and this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cow.pastvre.pokemongomap
I am not connected in anyway to that app, but it works well and is not illegal. You can only mark, where you saw the pokemon and where you did not and it shows you with circles where it could be.
I've been showing this to people all week, but get ignored and down voted. It's my favorite app and useful. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cow.pastvre.pokemongomap&hl=en&referrer=utm_source%3Dgoogle%26utm_medium%3Dorganic%26utm_term%3Dtracking+tool+for+pokemon+go&pcampaignid=APPU_1_SigBWJrWCcHa-QG587_YBQ
Try this. It's NOT A TRACKER. It's an app that helps you 'triangulate' the location of a pokemon through process of elimination.
In case anyone's wondering, there's apps out and ones that use overlays so you can tap "I see it" or "I don't see it" from in-game.
This is the one I use: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cow.pastvre.pokemongomap
The screenshots don't do it justice since it shows satellite images where as in app you can use a regular map.
If on Android, try this app. It does exactly what you describe. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cow.pastvre.pokemongomap
Well, not exactly... possibly better, because you don't need to fmonly find spots where it disappears.
This one works well https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cow.pastvre.pokemongomap&hl=en
So I went to Avondale Golf Course in Pymble the other night from 12:00am-4:00am. It was a full moon so the course was well lit up. It's definitely a Charmander nest, I was able to evolve a Charizard from my hatched Charmander and even power it up a bit. Got the right moves too.
Here's a map of where the nest is and the walking path I took to get in without being too noticeable. The area I gave for the nest isn't exact but it's pretty much where I found all the Charmanders spawning. The path I took keeps you mostly hidden from the main building. You might be able to get onto the course from the end of St Andrews Dr but I hadn't tried that. I found a few Charmanders to the right of the buildings but that area is quite exposed and there didn't seem to be as many.
~~The Pokemon map didn't show any terrain details and displayed the area blank so I swapped into google maps with satellite mode on to get a sense of where I was. I used a variation of this technique, to track the pokes once they appeared on the tracker (I jogged while in pursuit :P). Pretty much when a Charmander appeared on the tracker I picked a straight line to run and would mentally mark the two points where the Charmander would disappear off the tracker. I then ran back to the midpoint of the two points and then search 90 degrees away from the line on either side. Hope that's understandable. The openness of the area made running straight lines easy. Again I swapped in and out of google maps to coordinate what I was doing. Only had 1 or 2 despawn on me.~~
Forget my tracking method nonsense above, I used this tracking app(non cheating) and it made tracking a lot easier. I'm sure there are other apps out there that serve a similar function.
I've tried Foley's and found it to be pretty dead through the night.
Edit: Slightly more updated map, I patrol the blue line which takes 5 mins to walk one length.
Yeah, this one works pretty good for that.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cow.pastvre.pokemongomap
Ive been using this app that does the same thing. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cow.pastvre.pokemongomap
I currently use Tracking Tool for Pokémon Go, which so far is the best of the tools I've seen in the Android store, but doesn't have the most user-friendly interface.
The most user-friendly interface on Android is Finder for Pokémon GO, but that app doesn't have the best features.
Honestly, I'd like to see an app that displays something similar to this...very clean looking, and has all the functionality I would ever need.
At the very least, I want an overlay that will:
(1) Display an overlay of an easily visible map
(2) Display an overlay of an easily visible button that allows me to remove all previous circles and draw a fresh circle. (In Tracking Tool I have to enter the app, hit "clear," and then hit "I see it!" in order to do that)
(3) Show an easily visible button that allows me to cut out areas of the first circle when I've walked some distance and I still see the Pokémon in my sightings (so I only see the intersect of the current circle and the first circle)
(4) Show an easily visible button that allows me to cut out areas of the first circle when I've walked some distance and I don't see the Pokémon in my sightings anymore (so you subtract the current circle from the first circle)
(5) Show an easily visible button that will allow me to undo my last button press (from 2, 3, or 4)
Optional features that would improve my QoL would be:
> The ability to alter colors of the map or the buttons of the overlay (some colors are easier for me to see than others)
> The ability to move the buttons or map to different parts of the screen (some parts of the screen feel more intuitive to me than others. I personally prefer the map to be in the top left-hand corner and the buttons to be at the bottom of the screen in the "blank spaces" between the "Pokémon" "Shop" and "Items" buttons when you pull up the menu, but others might want them in different locations)
> The ability to go back to one of the last 3 tracking histories (I may be currently tracking a Jigglypuff, but then switch to track a Vaporeon, but after I find the Vaporeon, I might want to go back and track the Jigglypuff if it is still in my Sightings)
> The ability for the app to download and show any known spawn points within the circle. (If a portion of the tracking circle is cut away, remove that spawn point as well as the circle)
> The ability to set a countdown timer similar to the 15 min timer that Tracking Tool currently has
> The ability to zoom in and out of the map overlay (or make it larger/smaller)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cow.pastvre.pokemongomap try this out in the future
If you're clueless on using the tracker. I suggest this one to help learn.

saw this posted on the silph road ages ago i've been using it for a while and it works great
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cow.pastvre.pokemongomap
This one works really well to track down Pokemon
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cow.pastvre.pokemongomap
Download a tool like the Tracking Tool for Pokemon GO. It allows you to narrow down the location of something nearby fairly easily.
Provides an in game overlay. Completely within the rules, does not break ToS.
I use it in a densely populated city and it really helps speed up the hunt.
Edit: Downvote away you whiny scrubs. Get good or uninstall ;)
Guys, here is a tracker that works, and please consider looking through it before down voting me. It's actually an overlay on top of pokemon go. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cow.pastvre.pokemongomap&hl=en&referrer=utm_source%3Dgoogle%26utm_medium%3Dorganic%26utm_term%3Dtracking+tool+for+pokemon+go&pcampaignid=APPU_1_SigBWJrWCcHa-QG587_YBQ
I live in a densely populated city and am able to triangulate fairly easily. Try using Tracking Tool for Pokemon GO to speed up your search.
Completely within terms of service, makes the sightings feature into a useful tracking tool that works very reliably.
Edit: Lol everyone would rather downvote and whine than try to get better at the game. gg scrubs
