Are we thinking of the same app? 4.5 rating after 129 reviews doesn't reflect often really bad experiences.
Never had any gripes with its speed. The favorites implementation is basically your one-click most frequent stops criteria.
Biggest differences I see are your lack of 'Near me' stops and the path of the bus (list of prev/next stops or a map) and your addition of 'last location' and 'ETA', but I think those are redundant to 'Mins left', and being web instead of app.
Just my brief observations as a Transit user. Definitely good to do some side project work in any case, but a big follow up question to side projects is 'what gap did you fill & how big of a gap was it?'
Google maps is the best map for campus; just about all of the campus buildings are labeled in it and most even have maps of their interiors. The walking directions know about most of the paths, and the transit directions know about all of the bus schedules, so it's also helpful for planning how to get to/from class the best.
If you're actually using the bus, I'd recommend an app like this one which gives you the same information you see on the arrival screens, except on your phone and for every stop (even those without arrival screens). The buses here are really useful and apps like this make them even better.
Transit for CUMTD is the best bus app that I've experienced. For Android, not sure if there's an iOS counterpart. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.hyunbin.transit&hl=en
This is the one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.hyunbin.transit
Also a vote for Transit
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.hyunbin.transit is by far my favorite bus app. It is a real life saver and basically the only app I would say is essential for a new freshman.
Sure--it's actually live on the Play Store as "Transit for CUMTD"
