Trees for Cars is on the Play Store. Costs $1, with 1,000 to 5,000 installs, so he's made between $700 and $3500 (plus any sales not through Play). Many of the reviews specifically say they purchased to help the developer.

In my limited experience, there's three general types, all too often phases, for homeless. Those who make do well enough, or even enjoy the freedom, and are relatively "normal". Those who create their own little imaginary world and tend to think wild success (or an alien invasion, etc.) is always just around the corner. And those that are completely beaten down.
Edit: I had read an update a few days ago that said that it was no longer on the Play store "since he does not want to pay for server space for its upkeep." Apparently, someone is paying for it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.treesforcars.treesforcars&hl=en
Wow, nothing but fake 5-star reviews to "show support".
