Ad-Free, cross platform use, no version upgrade fees, true push notifications, ability to edit posted tweets, complete UI/Setup customization & full Android TV compatibility. I've tried them all & nothing makes the cut. I always come back to Tweetings.
The DEV is beyond amazing with adding new features, timely updates & communication in the G+ community, as well.
Tweetings for twitter. Mainly for the push notificaitons option. Wish other apps had this feature rather the "refresh every X minutes/hours".

Tweetings is great.
Twitter Lite is good, too.
> Generally there is no room for that.
If that were the case, other apps wouldn't be able to do so.
> Everything will look ugly.
Not IME at all.
There are plenty of pics of Tweetings split screen mode on its Play Store page if you scroll far enough to the right.
Would make Boost that much more efficient on my TV & in Landscape mode.

Just set the refresh rate to manual. That will have/keep both the app & widget from refreshing until you choose to do so. Unless they have individual settings (TweetMarker/app you're using having it pending) then adjust accordingly.

Any decent 3rd party Twitter app allows for data restriction, selectable pic resolution/quality & the ability to turn media off altogether..?
Check out Tweetings if you're not afraid of paying a premium for apps, does/has everything I've mentioned above & more.. editing posted tweets, full UI/settings customization, etc..
Tweetings has a gps map that shows locations of tweets.
I've tried all the ones you've mentioned and more. I've settled on Tweetings.

It also has push notifications without keeping the app in the background :)
edit: link problem
Tweetings. More customizable than any other Twitter app and I've tried them all.

Tweetings for Twitter can show lists and list members for other users.
I used to use Fenix then Fenix 2. I've since moved on to Tweetings quite happily.

You can't. Well, you can, but you can't login because there's no tokens left. I can't endorse the official client since it does, or has contained ads.
Apps I have liked:
- Tweetings https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dwdesign.tweetings&hl=en
- Fenix 2 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.mvilla.android.fenix2&hl=en
If you don't want to pay then twidere is in my optics the best freebie. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.mariotaku.twidere&hl=en
People also seem to enjoy Talon. Tucano has some similarities in the design with Flamingo. Fluce might also end up being interesting.

Tucano https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wz.outaps.tucano&hl=en
Fluce https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flucemedia.fluce&hl=en
I hope this helps you to zone in on what you think is interesting... Note: I have bought every single app I've listed. I could live with all of them.
I like tweetings best.
