Fit has sadly been broken for a long time, Abed quite frankly it's embarrassing that Google can't get it right.
My recommendation it's to uninstall fit from your phone and then disable it on your watch (because it is also prone to sucking battery), and instead, use the Jawbone UP app, which properly interfaces with the watch step sensors (and in the latest update introduced support for heart rate!). I've had zero problems with correct strep counting. The UP so will also link with other fitness apps/service like myfitnesspal and others for overall tracking

It's sad that there isn't a good single solution for this, and I think Google not being able to get fit working via their own operating system, their own hardware, and their own api is a great indicator of incompetence, especially when fitness tracking is one thing that was advertised with the wear platform.
It is already compatible and has been for months. They were beta'ing it, and I think they basically found it didn't work great, and sort of just let it die last I knew. They probably put that note there before they added this app (which you need, if you don't have an UP band already) to the play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jawbone.upopen
I have a G watch and a Jawbone UP24. I wear the UP24 at certain times when I don't wear my G Watch, like running, cycling, sleeping, gym, etc. However, I use the Jawbone "non band" app on my G Watch: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jawbone.upopen&hl=en . So when I'm not wearing the Up24 (to work, around, casually, etc) my watch tracks my steps and everything is in sync (put my food in the app, sleep is in there from the Up24, etc).
I'm pretty happy with the set up.
Try using the Fitbit app or Jawbone's app for calorie tracking. Personally, my favorite fitness apps are Runtastic and Endomondo.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying and what we're talking about. You need to get the purple version of the UP app from the playstore and it'll use whatever android wear device you have in place of their own tracking bands.

It syncs just fine on my Android (One M8).
Get the Up for Pebble watchface, and the "UP" app from jawbone (It's the purple icon). Once you get the watchface loaded, open the settings for it (if it doesn't already) and create/add your jawbone account. The two will sync. You can then use the Up android app to sync that information with the MFP app.

(Runs on the watch, syncs with the phone)
FYI there's an UP app for Android Wear: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jawbone.upopen
Yeah, the information isn't correct. Here's the link to the app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jawbone.upopen
