What is so special about the "smart alarm", that it couldn't be replicated on the Apple Watch?
The Apple Watch has a "taptic engine" (https://www.apple.com/au/watch/technology/), basically a vibration motor, like you get in any other device (like the Jawbone Up3). I don't think it'd be impossible for them, or some third-party app developer to write a smart alarm equivalent.
Hey. I'm sorry, I forgot all about this and haven't been on reddit a ton.
Here are the two files I have. I have no clue whether either of them is the latest Jawbone offered. https://gofile.io/d/ltNXi2
If you do start playing with it and it doesn't break I would love to find out about it. Also I did some Design/UX/Graphic/ on some interesting bluetooth toys with sensors with a company called Dynepic. If you start developing and want to toss around ideas please feel free to PM.
Groupon is a good place to check. You can get them a lot cheaper that usual when they have deals on so its always worth looking. I wouldn't get a used jawbone either. Mostly because they have a habit of breaking. My first jawbone broke 3 times so buying one new and having the manufacturers warranty is quite useful. That being said I still find jawbones incredibly useful.
So is the UP2 worth it? I just ordered one. I'm not a fan of having to switch normal/sleep modes manually (nor do I understand why it doesn't automatically switch after the alarm goes off) and the reviews have pointed to some accuracy issues with activity recognition. I'm wondering if I should just wait for the next Withings Pulse.
Not sure if they are sold in store or not, but this one has prime shipping, one day shipping available.
Edit: Just realized this post was 3 days old, you've probably found something by now.
Jawbone has been a massive fail, and yet they still have the most aesthetically pleasing devices. I wont purchase a device until another company can make as good lucking a piece of hardware as Jawbone has.
I own an UP24 and realistically the device is pretty moot. This app I have installed makes it useful see here
This app allows my UP24 to buzz me when my phone receives notifications or calls. I leave my ringer/vibe off all day and stick with my UP24 for phone calls and texts/email notifications.
The UP app looks really nice, the smart alarm and sleep information is useful but I wish I didn't have to manually turn on sleep mode.
Google fit accurately records my steps and other activity way better. I wish my Jawbone data could sync up with Google Fit.
