It's about 1.5 MB v the Kindle App ~55 MB

Kindle is a good option. Instapaper is good if you want to push to Kindle many articles. Personally i send to the Kindle only longform so i use the Chrome extension Send to Kindle on PC and Upload to Kindle on my Android device. Both work well.
