This is extremely exciting as it allows you to talk to clan mates on the go. (Clan chat is more convenient to use than Discord when you're in-game so it's good to be able to talk to everyone)
You can craft it via the official Warframe app.
If you're on iOS, here's the link to the iOS version.
If you're on Android, here's the link to the Google Play version.
The same goes for anything Foundry related i.e Frames, forma, reactors, keys, weapons, helmets etc. You can also deploy and collect extractors from the app too.
How come nobody has mentioned the Warframe Mobile App yet?
Set your alert filter for nitain and the things you need early game (Reactors, Catalysts, etc.). Wait for a notification. If you can play, log in and do the alert. If you are busy, wait for the next alert. Problem solved.
there is an official warframe app. you can login to your account, manage extractors and recieve notifications for the alerts you want: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.digitalextremes.warframenexus
There’s a phone app for Android and iOS (I can’t figure out how to directly link this one) that lets you check such things.
In addition to letting you view your mod collection and current mod configurations, it also lets you check a lot (but not all) of the world state stuff usually shown in the navigation screen, deploy and claim resource extractors, and queue and claim builds in your foundry (though it can’t start ones that make you pick items as part of starting the build, like the Sapra or Warframe specters).
If you do use it, just make sure you don’t try to use it while logged in to the game, as this can cause you to lose progress in the game (DE uses a single login in both places, and the stuff they do to prevent multiple logins in the game itself invalidates an existing login sessions when a new one is created).
If you get the official Warframe app, you can set up notifications to always tell you if there's any helmet alert (or anything else you choose to get notified about).
Unrelated, but the app also allows you to build stuff in your foundry, interact with/stabilize your pet, check official news, so on and so forth. I hope this helps
Edit: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.digitalextremes.warframenexus
There aren't any email alerts that I'm aware of, but there are several apps for smartphones that have push notifications. I can't personally recommend any third-party ones, just because I haven't used them, but here's a link to the official one
Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.digitalextremes.warframenexus
iPhone: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/warframe/id698910075?mt=8
And for those of us with a Smart Phone just grab the official Warframe app, which allows you to set your phone to alert you for specific settings of alerts, such as just looking for potatos, helmet skins, etc depending on what you'ld like.
Iphone's Apple Store and Google/Android's Play Store
Haven't seen anything about it (warframe.market) but I'm not in the discord. Shouldn't be a complex change, but will change the data structure so it's probably a major version update.
The app will be a bigger one, iirc the consoles took a longer time to get integrated there too, but looking at the playstore they are aiming for a 'next week' release with Switch support :)
You can use official Warframe app to control the foundry and extractors, as well as access the codex and view your inventory. There are some limitations - for example, you cannot view your rivens in it or start crafting weapons which use other weapons as components, but overall it's useful.
You can also enable notifications for alerts with specific rewards, like potatoes or forma.
The main three things it allows you to do is check alerts, collect extractors, and manage the Foundry.
You can also have a look at the news and your inventory, if you want.

Also worth it to download the wiki app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wikia.singlewikia.warframe
The Foundry is already searchable with the Warframe app (atleast on the android version)
Companion phone app, for managing your foundry and excavators, away from the game.
Warframe Vol#1. Best read after War Within and once you've maxed Fortuna Rank 5 standing, as a retrospective.
There's an Official Android App which in addition to alerts allows you to do things like manage your foundry tasks.
Caveat: Not sure if this is supported for Nintendo players yet.
Others have answered your question, but it's worth mentioning that there's official warframe app (android and ios). It lets you craft too, though you can't be logged in AND use the app at the same time.
Some foundry items that require selecting parts can only be crafted in game, but that's minority.
Build extractors and you can forget about farming it. I have six I have run in alternating sequence basically 24-7 for a year. I have (checks inventory) 308000 alloy, after building Corinth.
There is even the mobile app for it, so you don't even have to log into Warframe to manage these.
Just a FYI, you can manage your foundry in the mobile app if you have it.
While it's not perfect, beats having to log in all the time.
There is an official Warframe app published by Digital Extremes which has that functionality. You can set it to notify your phone when specific types of alerts come up, as well as build items in your foundry and check your inventory.
Its not that hard. You can install the official Warframe app or the Deathsnacks version and get sent notifications straight to your phone as soon as alerts come up.
There are always nice people hosting taxis for the Nitain alert in the recruiting tab.
An oversight can be simplified down to "a mistake" in regards to missing information. Where an omission is the intentional withholding of information, an oversight is the failure to present the information to the players. I cannot speak for the intentions behind the examples of omissions, but it is my assumption that the information was withheld intentionally for one reason or another. If there is, for whatever reason, a limitation which prevents Digital Extremes from presenting information within the game, they still have other official channels to present the information in. Though it would still create the problem of players having to refer to an external source outside of the game, an official forum post to document specific mechanics would be beneficial to the community.
Instead, an oversight is simply something forgotten. When the Ash Prime Access began in Update 16.11, Digital Extremes had forgotten to actually add any of the new Prime parts to the drop tables. Whoops! It was clearly an oversight and quickly corrected in Hotfix 16.11.1. Likewise, Update 18.1 included an undocumented feature which allowed players to see their squad's Energy bars. A positive change to the game, but never expressly stated in any of the patch notes since its addition to the game. There have several occasions in the past when something was added in the patch notes, but didn't actually make it into the game until a later hotfix. There have been several occasions in the past when something was added to the game, but never made it into the patch notes.
There have also been instances of additions or changes to the game having unanticipated outcomes. As mentioned earlier, Covert Lethality in its initial form had proven to be far more powerful than anticipated. It was a design oversight which was quickly addressed and sparked a discussion about other similar combat mechanics being adjusted. Design and balance oversights can be just as detrimental to the game as a lack of information.
When it comes to giving players information, Digital Extremes has created several channels of information. Some of which are collaborative, some of which are standalone. The @PlayWarframe Twitter account has been used to synchronize announcements with the official website's news feed, but has also made standalone announcements in the past. For example, the current Frost and Ember Prime Vault Access was originally announced over Twitter whereas the official website did not include it in the news feed until this week. Similarly, sometimes news about upcoming features is announced or discussed on any of the multiple weekly streams Digital Extremes hosts on Twitch.tv, but there is not any official recap or news post offered.
This has somewhat improved in the past year as an official Devstream Overview segment has been added to the official news feed, but information still slips through the cracks some times. Information which you can find on TCN! Devstream Recaps completely sourced with timestamps and screencaps as well as an InDev Page which tracks all publicly shared information about upcoming features and changes to the game.
For patch notes in particular, sometimes human error gets in the way of presenting all of the necessary information in an update. Update 19 clearly meant to include the Zarr within the context of the patch notes alluding to the idea that "Fourth and fifth weapons exist… but defeating The War Within will be necessary to discover them.", but the patch notes had only made mention of the Twin Rogga and Kesheg. Sometimes while editing a document, lines of text get deleted and overlooked. I'm sure that if you've been following my rants on Reddit or my posts here on TCN, you've noticed that I've done that more than a few times myself. With the rapid updating schedule and multiple departments working on different aspects of the game, sometimes a feature planned to arrive in an update isn't quite ready to go live. Sometimes a feature expected to arrive later comes early and doesn't make it into the patch notes. In the Digital Extremes AMA on Reddit last year, the staff reassured the community that sometimes oversights happen and there is not a malicious intent behind those mistakes (Source: Reddit).
The frequency at which this occurs can be a bit overwhelming and it has the unfortunate side effect of confusing players. If the Torid's gaseous cloud effect deals significantly less damage after an update, but there is not any documentation, how can players determine if it was intended or not? An undocumented change in Update 17 did just that to the Torid and has yet to be officially documented. If you were to search through all of the patch notes between Update 17 and now, you'll only find two lines:
This wasn't a situation unique to the Torid. Another prime example would be to examine the introduction of the Focus system and the subsequent Focus Lenses. Digital Extremes had omitted information about the system intentionally, but as it turned out there was also an oversight: Greater Focus Lenses were intended to be available for purchase in the Market (Hotfix 18.0.6). The consequence of this oversight was a rapidly booming Focus Lens player trading market from the Sortie rewards immediately crashing. As I wrote about in The Failures of Focus, players had been spending upwards of 100 Platinum to obtain the lesser variants of the Focus Lenses and then suddenly their value had been dramatically reduced. Early adopters of the Focus system who had spent Platinum within the first week of its introduction likely had a surge of buyer's remorse. But how were the players supposed to know that the Greater Focus Lenses were meant to be included in the Market? It left some, such as myself, questioning if it had truly been the original intention or if Digital Extremes saw it as an opportunity to take advantage of the Platinum trading going on with Focus Lenses.
There have always been issues with documenting information for Warframe in general. Within just a few minutes of browsing the official Warframe Nexus App, you'll be able to find instances of incomplete, missing, or inaccurate information when compared to the base game itself. It took years for the UI to improve enough for players to see even basic information about weapon and ability statistics. Even the format of the patch notes has been inconsistent in the past: sometimes they would utilize rich text, sometimes they would be formatted as if written in a plain text editor, and even the naming conventions of updates and hotfixes were unclear in the early stages (Updates 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 in resemble what we commonly see as hotfixes now).

Or DE can give the app away for Free?
Yea, Warframe is quite fun. MR25 here! :)
It might seem infinite, but eventually you'll run out of stuff to do. After you have done all the missions, collected all the guns/warframes/(and everything else), the wait for next content patch is looong. Though, not really an issue until you have already played for ~1000 hours, give or take depending on how efficient you are.
Also, about the platforms, due to how differently the monetization works on different platforms, playing together with people from other platforms isn't a thing. Remains to be seen how it is on Switch, really hoping they'd join the PC pool of players, but I doubt it.
"1,415 hrs" says Steam, so I'd say I've had my entertainment from the game quite nicely, and will continue having fun.. but man, the new content is more than welcome :)
BTW, few handy resources for the game:

There's the official app, and probably a few off versions I wouldn't run the risk of.
>Any other thoughts for me before I begin my journey?
How about the official warframe app?

If you are on android.

Orokin reactors are 20 platinum on the market. If you open relics you can sell whatever comes out of them for a minimum of 1 platinum each. If you open 20 of them you have a 33.2% of getting at least 1 rare reward out of that which usually sells for more platinum (think 45-100). This also doesn't take into account that there will be 3 other people in your relic opening party further increasing your chances of getting better/more valuable rewards. It should take you approximately 5 minutes to get relic and 5 minutes to open a relic (worst case/very conservative). So that's 200 minutes for 20 relics, then another 30-60 minutes to sell your rewards for platinum using trade chat (shorter if you use warframe.market or another site). Approximately, 4 hours spent with 3/4s of that time actually playing the game to get a reactor with no actual money spent. 75 wolf credits is rip-off if you have other things you need to buy with them.
Also, they come during alerts, I think they call them "gifts of the lotus". Get the app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.digitalextremes.warframenexus&hl=en_US

Made by DE. Can change the notification settings.
Warframe App is your best friend for tracking alerts out of game.

An official app exists for Android & Apple. They allow for extractor collection (clunky, one at a time) and deployment, foundry building and claiming (including slot purchase if needed). Though be careful claiming junction requirements or quest components via the app. I've had a bad experience with that in the past... fuck you Limbo you piece of extraction mission trash that everyone hates anyway outside of very specific mission roles. You can also bring your pet out of stasis when you're leaving work so he's all recovered and whatnot by the time you get home.
It even pops up semi-reliably for extractor completions and foundry items built. Though usually only for one of them. If they both happen I only get one notification.
All in all the app isn't terrible. The codex and inventory functions are a tad slow but I avoid those functions completely.
Only real annoyances are that you cannot be logged into the game AND the app at the same time and it doesn't update very well. So no foundry/extract actions while you're doing a 4 hour survival and the pages don't always refresh properly without exiting the app, killing it via recent apps, then reloading it.
PS. There's also WarDroid. It's deathsnack's warframe timer/event tracker and fairly consistent. You can specific what type of alerts/invasion rewards to highlight for you. But sometimes it gets confused/delayed.
I have and use both.
MFW I get woken up at 5am for a nitain alert that ended 20 minutes ago because I didn't set my phone to silence.
