that's awesome dude, keep it up !
ah yes, the pain of being a beginner witch when youre young n broke. since there's really not that much information on spells try doing 'connect-the-dot research' (-i made that up so if you look it up and find nothing, that's why) basically go to things like tiktok, Tumblr, Pinterest, wattpad, or even wiccan and witchcraft apps:
Wiccan and Witchcraft Spells
Wiccan & Witchcraft Spells
and start out by trying to find the same spell on each of those, so look up 'luck spell' on each of those apps for example and see the common ingredients and methods used throughout, then you can either use Google or those same apps to find the meaning being the ingredients used so if green candle wax was used, search for what it means in witchcraft, then it'll most likely lead to colour magick for example, or maybe it used bay leaves- look up what that means, herb magick, etc. etc. basically just sit down and deep dive into spell research and try to get the type of understanding where if you saw a new spell, you'd automatically be able to predict what it contains based on what you've learnt about other spells- connect the dots kinda thing.
Hi! First of all, welcome to the community! I hope you have a great time and some amazing experiences!!
Now, the first thing you'll need to get into witchcraft is a book of shadows (BOS) / grimoire / witchcraft journal / however you want to call it (BOS is the most popular term, but personally I prefer grimoire, it's up to you). What's a book of shadows? It's basically a book where you write everything magick-related. All the info you read on articles / watch on videos, you may want to write it down on your BOS, not only to make sure you understood it but also to look it up later when you can't remember something. You can use a notebook, a binder (my personal favorite since you can rearrange the order of the pages and add more pages) or just a word document on your computer. Use what makes you more comfortable, as it will be your main tool and your main source of knowledge.
Another important thing to think before you start is a witchy name, especially if you're going to work with faeries, spirits and/or demons. Also you should decide if you want to involve/work with deities or not. Witchcraft is not a religion, but there are some religions that include magickal activities (for example Wicca).
>Does a beginner start on spells? If so what are they?
You can start to do your own spells, but I personally would recommend you to do some research on materials first (flowers/herbs, color correspondences, candles, crystals, etc). For example, let's suppose you want to make a beauty/self love spell, you will probably need roses, pink/red candles, rose quartz. Each flower, herb, color, and crystal have its own meaning/intention, and it's important to research each (also make sure to research the proper ways to treat each material, especially with crystals as they can be really fragile).
>Can we create spells from things you find around the house?
Of course! The most important thing is your intention (important addition: before a spell it's great to check you're in the right mood for it, as you don't want it to be misinterpreted or backfired. A little bit of meditation will work).
>Is there something we should stay away from?
Imo you should just follow your gut, if your inner voice says that something isn't right for you then don't do it. The first rule is that you feel comfortable with what you're doing.
Of course there are some basic tips like if you're working with candles be careful with the fire and make sure you don't leave it unsupervised; not all crystals can be mixed with water and be sure you do your research before burning herbs or mixing oils as they might have dangerous side effects.
Lastly, if you want some links I can recommend you Witchipedia site, and this witchcraft app (the link is from the Playstore for Android, I'm not sure if it's available for ios :/)
Hoping the best for you!! Blessed be!
Why go for fake magic when you can have the real thing? Just be careful not to turn yourself into a toad :). https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.andromo.dev137436.app190147&hl=en&referrer=utm_source%3Dgoogle%26utm_medium%3Dorganic%26utm_term%3Dwiccan+and+witchcraft+spells&pcampaignid=APPU_fujNVKMXjt3tBuGMgZgC
