if anyone wants a chat app that really self destructs chats (which you can't be 100% sure about when it comes to Snapchat) and is open source, they should check Wickr
Wickr.me is the personal version (source.
Their website isn't great for information on the personal versions.
A username system would be beneficial I think.
If the app is secure then the messenger provider won't know what you're sending...
Try Wickr

Thanks for the replies, maybe I'm mistaken but I remember reading that there is Wickr ready for PinePhone too like Telegram. If those 2 apps can be downloaded and works flawless, then yes already with killswitches and more safety in whole platform than any Iphone, it's a buy for me for those reasons. And for the price the specs are quite good too, got to say.
I'm a business man so I guess anyone understands what I'm after with this phone. No calls, changing prepaids on a regular and only using encrypted programs like Wickr and Telegram's secret chats to stay under the radar..
Those who don't know about Wickr Me, it's probably most safe chat software on the planet for commercial use and heavily used all around the world by extreme journalists, illegal activity doing people, you name it..

Just tell me when and where to get it to Finland easiest and cheapest? Thanks in advance.
I want NONE of that. I dont want to set a PIN. That is pseudo-security. use an email adress and password..that would be safe. If you forget you PIN and unlock after 7 days messages are gone on any device.
The worst are the ppl behind Signal: just started the app this morning and cant use it as I forces the PIN. That's not nice or acceptable.
So, bye bye signal...it was a nice short time. Your code is terrible by the (load high number of messages on desktop), your infrastructure is not cool and your hiring policy is bad (https://signal.org/workworkwork/).
Signal has lowered the security. Signal has lowered the usability and UX. Maybe Wickr is not as secure though they claim differently: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mywickr.wickr2 https://wickr.com/security/
Just an example of why Signal is not secure at all: Befriend another Signal user and discuss politics. Other Signal user gets arrested and opens phone in exchange for less jailtime. Signal shows ALL messages binded to an mostly identifyable phonenumber. So what exactly is secure about Signal in the End? The PIN anyone can watch me enter just like my Android PIN? Laughable. The binding to a phone number and the ability for ANYONE to keep logs of chats?
I do no longer see why Signal exists. Surely in any echochamber the messenger is wrong, but WHY would anyone stick to Signal?
Completely agree. In fact, political correctness, is not a talking point and it closes all means of discussion. Comedians are the first to tell you that our PC culture has basically squeezed them out of telling good jokes; and when we start to limit freedom of speech, we are treading on dangerous grounds.
There are a few programs on Apple iPhone apps that have completely encrypted information, I believe it's called WickrMe used by journalists to send encrypted data that self destructs: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mywickr.wickr2
However, it's not in a forum status, and kind of a pain to use some times.
The strange thing about what's happening in America in regards to Homeland Security is frightening. As a legal immigrant and U.S. citizen, I came from a country that basically monitors it's citizens... all communication, phone call, mail. In fact, when I was younger and use to speak to my relatives on the phone, or mail gifts and packages, we would have to be careful about what we said on the phone because their government was listening in on our phone calls. Often times, we couldn't send or mail packages to our relatives directly through the country's post office and instead had to ask our friends who were traveling there to hand-deliver packages. Bribery and corruption was huge in there... I remember visiting, and my grandmother had to pay the local police thousands of dollars in order to keep them from spying on us.
I never thought I would see the day when I would have to be careful about what I say here in America online, on the phone, or not be free to criticize my government. Never thought I would see it. Every American should wake up, there are bills going through congress to limit your freedom of speech... the "Fake News" narrative being pushed by propagandist media is alarming, if not for anything that they claim to be the "ONLY SOURCE" of "real news". That is not only a bold statement to make, but it is a dictatorial statement. State-run media is what North Korea has, don't forget that.
In any case, I hope that there is some genius programmer who reads the_Donald and has the time to program something like this. I'm not a programmer, so unfortunately I can't help.
Most certainly privacy is imperative to a free society, and freedom from being monitored by our government.
