Yōdanji
(man, having links feels good!)
The biggest addition this week was a new Picnic mode, which is basically Hunt, but easier in the long run (folks not familiar with the game lingo - sorry!). Getting new yōkai proved to be more challenging for players than expected, and after 5 days of leaderboards filled with only starter yōkai I've decided to make it a bit more manageable by gradually handicapping enemies as the game progresses, at the cost of reduced score. Judging by the leaderboards these days, the job is done well enough (sidenote: global leaderboards provide cool feedback for developers).
Other than that, hotfixing embarrassing bugs in a hurry. Thanks to the roguelike nature of the game, some of them were mistaken for features. As in, doing certain things would cause item descriptions to disappear, which, to the players, looked like it might be an identification mechanic of sorts.
In other news, iOS version has been trudging along nicely. A couple of hints for posterity:
unlike Android, iOS default framerate is capped at 30fps, but that can be changed with Application.targetFrameRate
encoding music in mp3 gives massive performance boost
no "exit application" buttons as per Apple's policy.
After yōkai hit the bitten apple Japanese release should follow, but we will see about that.
Cheers!

Yōdanji got released! It even has its own web page now, albeit a very modest one. I feel like an engine that has been running at 200% for the last few weeks and now is finally cooling down.
In addition to the usual press release, I've posted in /r/roguelikes and registered the game on roguebasin. Decided against posting on Temple of The Roguelikes, for I do not frequent that place at all (hoping that one of the regulars will notice Yōdanji anyway). And that's all for big roguelike-oriented communities out there?
The response has been pretty positive so far. Things like
"...this game really surprised me with the creativity of the developer's implementation"
"...I really like the additional art and lore for each character"
make my cold, dead heart melt T__T
Curious bit is how differently people familiar with the brand reacted to Yōdanji being published by Kemco. While many welcomed something different from the usual repertoire of JRPGs, others proclaimed Yōdanji to be the worst title ever released by the publisher, or stated that they will not support another Kemco game on principle.
Next thing on the list is iOS version, then Japanese localization. Then Russian, maybe, perhaps? Would be a waste not to.
Google Play page for the curious. So pretty.
Cheers!

Yep, that's a new link because iOS version is out! It will be interesting to see how it performs and what users think of it on the other side of the great mobile divide.
Even before iOS release, Yōdanji got on Greenlight (careful there, the sound is rather bombastic), somehow? General sentiment on Steam towards mobile ports and a lack of preparations (screenshots with dpad in them, no promotional video) caused a lukewarm response at best, though. With most of that fixed, Yōdanji will hopefully get approved before the great and terrible Steam Direct arrives.
As for developing-developing, last week I've been experimenting with in-game light sources to spice up the looks a bit (that thing is live now):
pretty point lights being pretty
And this week has been mostly localization work with a whole lot of xml editing:
Cheers!
"Turn-based roguelike" is redundant. If it's not turn-based, it's not a roguelike :)
Anyway, there's Yōdanji.
There are a couple that stand out between the dozens of pixel dungeon clones:
-Yodanji (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=kemco.yodanji&hl=en): You choose between a decent number of japanese folklore creatures to play as, each one with different abilities. With the loot apparently only being consumables, it gets extremely repetitive after the first couple of hours and overall the game doesn't feel fair especially considering the hunger mechanic.
-Random Adventure Roguelike(https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.archison.randomadventureroguelikepro) Pretty much a text&buttons only roguelike, if you like grinding, this is your beach.
-Quest of Dungeons(https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.davidamador.quest_of_dungeons) May be one of the most accessible "pure" roguelikes you'll find.
