Check out YouMove. I signed up for beta but haven't tried it for awhile so I can't give you a useful feedback, but it does utilize your sensors to figure out the exercises you're performing

But...as other poster said...Google Fit is probably the way to go. These other two haven't been updated in a while.
I don't know the answer to that. My daily tracking works without any intervention. I set it up a long time ago, and can't remember. I have two system apps, Daily Tracking, symbolized by a sneaker, and Google Fit. In addition two variations of Google Fit show up on the watch, Fit and Fit Workout. Opening the latter gives a laundry list of activites. So, I guess if you choose a workout the activity will be logged as such.
I also have YouMove installed for tracking workouts, although that's for working out with weights. Finally I have Interval Timer a very simple app, for setting up timing intervals. It is just time, rather than pulse, based. Set up how long the pause is supposed to last, and the number of repeats. It will only vibrate, not sound a chime. Oddly, it doesn't show up on the Play Store when searching from the watch, only when searching from the phone. However it installs, and works fine.
What is it that the Polar app can improve on?
What I need from a weight lifting app is counting the reps of the exercise, and the time under tension. Would you know if Progression can do this? I tried Youmove for the rep counting, but it wasn't reliable enough so most of the time I had to enter data manually, and then it sort of defeats its purpose, creating a nuisance. It would skip a rep, or two, or get the exercise wrong. One time it didn't count during the barbell set. Then when I had to go to the restroom it started counting. Ha, ha, cracked me up.
