It will work, but you don't really need AAWireless on an Android based headunit. You can just install HeadUnit Reloaded (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gb.xxy.hr). Depends a bit on the Bluetooth on this unit, but the beta version has native wireless AA built in.
My trick for directions is to install a second copy of Google Maps with Island 🥳 Comes in really handy for any situation where you need a second copy of an app! You can even have the "Island" on your phone signed into the same or different Google accounts (I use this to keep work stuff separate from personal as well.)
I bought a wireless charger off amazon that works great. i have it in the console of my car so it's out of sight.
if you're interested, this is the one.

I used this one to determine the channel with the least interference but honestly that will change as you drive.

Channel 165 has been rock solid for me.
Why would I spend ~$100 on a wireless adapter if I was going to plug my phone in, anyway?
Regardless, I found a workable solution by placing a little 1.5" USB-powered fan inside the console next to the Qi charger: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DXS86G7
If I remove the case while charging, it keeps the phone cool enough to charge and the phone charges at about 1% per 5-10 minutes with navigation and media streaming going.

I bought this for my Honda CR-V so that the cable isn't sticking out too much from my USB port. Just make sure your port would have the angle going the correct direction.

I bought this cable on amazon.it and this is the result on my Volkswagen T-Roc.
Works like a charm.
Also useful info if you're trying to do something more complicated with trusted networks instead, AAWireless triggers on the Bluetooth connection not the WiFi connections, so ExpressVPN trusted networks does not work for this purpose and Tasker profiles have to be more complicated to consider Bluetooth connections as well.
I don't think the head unit is setup to utilize Android Auto. Simply having Android as the OS for the head unit doesn't mean it will run AA off your phone. You would probably need something like HUR to get everything working.
I used one of these wired Chinese dongle and AA works

It's one of these. Connect one end to the HU's USB and the other end to the phone and AA will pop up. Some dongle can ran Carplay if you have Iphone.

I have had the same problem. I have found that the USB cord makes a lot of difference for some reason in the GV80. I have to run with USB passthrough on and these cords from Amazon seem to work best in the GV80:
Hopefully this helps.

You can try a USB splitter such as this which passes through the data pins from one connector whilst splicing in the power pins of a secondary input.
You could then test it out with a cigarette plug USB outlet and if successful, hardwire it behind the dashboard.
