The one I have is an ebook from Signet Classics:
https://www.amazon.com/COUNT-MONTE-CRISTO-ABRIDGED-CLASSICS/dp/B00BG7L0SW
I have the illustrated e-book of the original 1846 Chapman-Hall translation from gutenberg.org
I also have physical books of the unabridged Robin Buss one, and the abridged Lowell Bair one.
I am working on a research project about The Abridged Monte Cristo, so I am getting books from inter-library loans so I can read them and take notes of which plot points and subplots are present, and which ones aren't. I also read children's versions and also the comics/manga/graphic novels. I find that it is possible to enjoy the story, and discuss it intelligently without needing to read the full version all the time.
Eventually, I will publish my findings on a website!
LOL, I had gotten a -4 rating on a posting (on a different thread) when I said that Dumas needed editing and his characters talked too much. JMO, but there are purists who love and want the full versions (of Les Miz, or TCOMC) and there's others who like lighter reading and getting to the point of the story. There's no reason for both sides to be hostile to each other and downvote people because they disagree on the question "abridged or unabridged"? There's enough different editions to satisfy everybody.
Did you know... "Hiedi" (sic) is ALSO by Mark Twain????

Same publisher, same cover art style. I suspect that they used a template for the Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer books and sort-of forgot to change the author name when it came to other children's books. So Monte Cristo and "Hiedi" (sic) still have artifacts of being by Mark Twain.
Seems like a quick-buck publisher. I highly doubt that their Monte Cristo adaptation is any good if they don't even take enough time and care to get the author right.
I don't know if it helps but I used a Google Sheet to calculate the Page numbers per chapter for the Penguin edition (Buss Translation).
I think I have done it correctly. I entered the starting page of each chapter beside the tentative reading date on your Reading Schedule and then just made a formula that subtracts the next starting page from previous.
I tried to log carefully but there may be a mistake. Someone could use the Amazon Look Inside to double check me if their inclined.
There is also some overlap that I noticed as I spot-checked a few chapters. For example Chapter 16 is like is like 9.25 pages and Chapter 17 is like 18.33 pages. So it's not perfect but maybe close enough to know how to budget our time over the daily readings.
Longest is 18 and change, shortest is 4 and average is 10.5 pages.
Sure, there are the thalia and amazon links, I hope they work: (and I hope "Vollständige Ausgabe" really means that they are unabridgrd :P)
