It’s not an immediate cure for the scars but I have found that these scar reduction sheets can reduce the look of scars that are up to 20 years old. I was given some a few years ago after gallbladder surgery to help with the scars and they really helped. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00DQ37QLE/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_QdPyFb5Y2X6NQ
You can get some very expensive scar reduction creams which work very well. Bio oil is completely rubbish. Depending on where your scars are and how big they are, I would recommend Cica Care scar reduction gel sheets. They are available on Amazon and you cut them to the size you need. You wear them overnight and if possible all day. Then wash them off with soap & water to re-use. They reduce scarring up to 20 years old.
I was given the Cica Care gel sheets from a friend after my gallbladder surgery. They reduced my surgery scars really quickly.
Consider adding the UV sleeves as advice to your post. They are significantly cooler than a hoodie and with a t-shirt over them, you won't be able to see scars on shoulders or anything either.
The ones I have are a bit small (Amazon order and seem to be Asian sizing) so they only really comfortably go up to my elbows without feeling too tight but with a men's style t-shirt over them (the short sleeves are longer) they work fine still. And even as a female it doesn't seem weird to wear a men's shirt. Many women i know prefer the cut of them. 🤷♀️
Something like this is what I mean UV Sun Protection Compression Arm Sleeves - Tattoo Cover Up - Cooling Athletic Sports Sleeve for Football, Golf & Volleyball https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RZMTCDW/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_A9DVK6JS5QYDEBVPTVEZ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Although they do make whole shirts out of the material too these go with whatever you already own, plus with black ones it isn't going to be obvious if a healing cut bleeds.
I have seen a few peoples SH. I usually wear sweatshirts, but I dont typically care if people see my scars. If I wear a short sleeve, and I dont want to draw attention I just put an athletic sleeve on.
I cut on my left arm as well, and face the same struggles of getting too warm at work but not wanting anyone to see my scars (or lately my fresh marks 😬) and what I've found that works out pretty well are like those long sleeve fingerless gloves. I've got a bunch of sets like this and I just wear them not over my thumb so that they go from my wrist to about the middle of my bicep and then my short sleeves on my shirt help cover the rest, then I'm not too hot and not feeling exposed. Hopefully it'll work for you as well. sending lots of love and understanding
I think I may have been a little too harsh. I run a mental health charity so I tend to dismantle my own/trustees ideas so we don't mess up and make things worse.
I would most likely have thoughts about cutting again if I saw a 4-day streak on your app. But, I also have a 53-day streak going on Duolingo and a 977-day streak going on Daylio.. so I know how addictive they can be.
A worry of mine would be (as a user and if I were developing the app) if the streak gets broken and you have to start again then where would that leave you mentally? I think I would abandon the app and keep cutting (has happened many times with Duolingo over the years). I'm not sure what could replace a "streak/days since" feature though and to be honest, it's been the most helpful for other things I've wanted to achieve. There's also level up features you could add like thos on Habitica, although I imagine that would bloat the app if it wasn't the main focus.
