There are these things called gear ties and they are about 4 inches long and rubber coated wire basically. It’s like a reusable bread twist tie but it’s long enough to put one end on the BB and one end on the cable.

I ordered these 18mmx16mmx1mm o rings from Amazon in the hopes of fixing this issue. The smaller size (16x14x1) still slipped out when warm so I went up a size. I just installed them today and they fit my bubbler well. They should work for the bb too.

Depends on your waterpiece and height of bb. If it comfortably reaches as is you're good. I made mine just over a foot long, but my wires have a pretty thin and flexible silicone insulator. Those look a bit beefier, so longer wires might actually make it heavier or more unwieldy than you'd like. Wire's cheap tho, and soldering is quick. Here's the wire I used if you want something lighter and more flexible.
