I have a fairly small kitchen, with many pieces simply too big for the drawers and cabinets available. Storage was a huge concern and so I basically settled for a stand-alone kitchen shelving:

There are cheaper and smaller versions of this available, but I wanted something that was built once, with plenty of space and no regrets later on. A lot of shelves are only 10-12 inches deep and 24-30 inches long, so I had to really search for something a bit roomier. I had a section of wall that was pretty much dead space for the measurements given, and this slots in very nicely.
This handles a lot of cookware, even oversized pieces because of the 14 inch depth (I have a 17 inch pizza baking circle that only overhangs a bit on each end but still totally reasonable to place on there). I have enough storage that I can even fit odd bits here and there depending on the need, like my 6qt instant pot.

That answer seems the most likely. Thx.
The only other possible hypothesis I’ve come up since my ask is denser vertical storage.
