Thank you so much!! I got the pattern from the book Zoomagrumi 8, and I'll attach the Amazon link for the book below! All the animals are so cute in it, this guy is my second!

Pattern from this book I used worsted weight yarn with size E hook, black copper wire for the glasses, safety eyes, and glass beads as her earrings.
Have you tried bamboo marking pins? It's hard when things are that small but you can use the pins to help you keep pieces in place while you sew. I think for your first ami this is really fantastic!

My Crochet Doll is a book I've used many, many times. The book includes the base doll plus every article of clothing you could want. I also recommend Beth Webber's blog, By Hook, By Hand She has many, many free patterns and her doll game is just amazing. A true talent.
I bought these specific ones and they have worked really well. Am still using them up and ones I put on well over a year ago are still on just fine. I did originally try and put the little washer on backwards at first and thought they weren't secure but figured it out quickly.
These are the ones I bought off of Amazon. They also come with little noses and a tool! They are working great for me so far! And I would say $10 for 462pc assorted (sorted) sizes is a pretty good deal. Esp with the little organizer case they come in!

Yes and no? My partner got me this book forever ago and the pattern came from it. It seems to be unavailable on Amazon but if you can find it anywhere else, it is a super cute book!
I did find the artist’s ravelry and she’s got some patterns available on there. She does have a slightly different version of my melody on there. 😊
I use foam wrapped hair curlers. You can get them at the dollar store. Work great!
they are safety eyes from amazon !

Yarn - La Mia mercerized cotton 3-weight assortment
Hook - 2.5 mm only
Notes - I added an ear for the doll (6 sc in mr, ch, turn, 6 sc in first row). I'd also try to find a way to affix the mustache better so it stands out more on the face. I had a problem with the jacket sleeves fitting too tightly and being too short. I extended them by starting with a chain of 20, and making 11 rows of 18 HDCs (the pattern calls for 9 rows of 12 HDC). I also did a single border of SC around the edge of the jacket and sleeve ends, as those edges were somewhat wavy.
I just searched Amazon for "dragon safety eyes". Here's the ones I got.

I’m not sure if the pattern is available online. I used a pattern from a book a friend got me!
This one is very outside of the box, but my boyfriend gifted this to me a year ago and it is my most used tool.
Scissors are scary with amigurumi because if you accidentally cut the doll, the whole thing falls apart.
Clover Pendant, Antique Silver 4.9" Height, 2.5" Length, 0.4" Width https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000WV1YC0/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_QHKN4FRW73341YZG4TJ4
The pendant above has little "hook" areas with a sharp blade on the inside, so you can cut any yarn right up against the body (necessary for amigurumi) and it will not cut any other yarn on accident. You also cannot accidentally cut yourself. I rarely ever use Scissors anymore (only for cutting big ribbons). It can be put on a chain/yarn strand and worn around the neck even!
I’m so flattered! I’ve only done little projects for friends and family so far -this one comes from a kit Star Wars Crochet https://www.amazon.com/dp/1645176010/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_navT_a_X7YX9TCS61C24JJETGEJ and I found a really helpful tutorial on YouTube the first time I did it
It depends on the style. If it’s a “realistic” pikachu - like this arbok looks like the official design - then it would be the same price. However I also do chibi versions that would be cheaper. You can see chibi pikachu here: https://imgur.com/a/WdGWH5D this is handheld but the design can be scaled up like this: http://aminoapps.com/p/isbrp3w this would be £30 ($40). Postage would be on top of these prices. I have time to make a chibi but am currently too busy to design a pattern for a “realistic” pikachu.

I always change up the design a bit for face detail but try to keep everything close to the pattern
I wish I would have used a smaller hook to get tighter stitches, but now I know for next time.

I like these. Most sizes you'll ever need, full hook, and they're ergonomic so they're helpful with wrist pain and carpal tunnel.

I have always found the poly pellets online, like Amazon.Poly Pellets Sometimes I can find them at Joanne's in their doll section.
It's from a book called Crochet Cafe
Thank you for all of this - I have used only acrylic yarns thus far, so it may be that I've just chosen yarn that isn't well suited for the end product I keep expecting. I suspect as you've noted that I may also keep too much tension on my work; it's something I'm learning to improve ever so slowly.
That being said, the fabric pill shavers may be a nice alternative - I like the lionsbrand and some of the others I've used and I'm not totally willing to give up on them yet!
Thank you both for the advice - I'll look at trying cotton yarn soon.
And thank you - I love Ollie's transitions. This is Lionsbrand's Landscapes series, Boardwalk color. It's gorgeous, but very tough to work with, particularly with a smaller-than-usual hook! It's basically just individual strands, which is why Ollie is so particularly fuzzy, I suspect. https://www.amazon.com/Lion-Brand-Yarn-545-201-Landscapes/dp/B00KKVA7AM
More info: Pattern is from Carla Mitrani's book "crochet iconic women: amigurumi patterns for 15 women who changed the world" I used acrylic yarn and safety eyes
