When doing heavy duty painting in the past I wore one of these 3M respirators with a set of these organic vapor cartridges
Even with using intense oil based paint I couldn’t smell it at all with the mask on. You can use the same face mask and sub in N95 filters too, it give a nice 100% seal for sanding.
There are full face masks so you don’t have to wear separate goggles!
Highly recommend the love to dream swaddleup swaddles. They are foolproof and hold bbs arms to where they don’t startle but can chew their hand and move a little. I’m sure some babies hate them but we were very happy and will purchase again.
Add some larger size clothes and socks! Baby will grow fast and it’s nice to have cute outfits to look forward to. Most people just think about newborn sizes.
Also bandana bibs like these are amazing. My kid wore them 24/7 (except when sleeping) to catch all the drool. They work ok as bibs for baby food too.
I think that underwear is super personal. I have friends that hated anything on their stomach so they wouldn’t have liked these.

First time around for me but so far I’m liking this one from Amazon. It has a detachable back support part. And you can flip it to still use your own head pillow which I prefer. The washable cover is very soft. INSEN Pregnancy Pillow,Maternity Body Pillowinsen maternity body pillow
To the hero that posted the review of all of the different maternity pants, thank you. I bought the Motherhood Maternity Leggings and they are awesome. I got them last night and put them on this morning and loved them as soon as I put them on. They are nice thick cotton material, they stay up, no saggy crotch, and have back pockets. I need more already, love them.
Also, thanks to those who mentioned Down Dog prenatal yoga. I downloaded it this weekend and did a couple of yoga routines and another this morning. I love the customization and the routines. I will definitely end up paying for the membership to continue on. I've been doing youtube videos but I hate scrolling through and still not finding the thing I want to do today.
Oops sorry! We have this one. It lasted 3 years before needing a new battery. https://www.amazon.com/MotherMed-Thermometer-Floating-BathTub-Swimming/dp/B01N4I19UX/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?crid=2FBA64688NFC7&keywords=bath+thermometer+baby+safety&qid=1644284085&sprefix=bath+th%2Caps%2C64&sr=8-5
Something I didn’t know before having a baby, when they’re an infant you have to take their temperature rectally. When he was older we got one that works on foreheads or in the ear.
If your bed is big enough, it’s glorious :)
I got a Leachco last time and am using it again. It is soooo comfortable

I got this one. It is massive but I am obsessed. I like that you can unzip the top and kind of reach in and redistribute the fluff. Plus the cover can be washed. I cut a hole in a pillow case and slid it over the place where my face goes just so I can wash the whole thing less (really feel like it’s just the face area that I need to wash frequently!) but I absolutely love it. From my experience as a STM, I think you've still got lots of time to prepare. Personally, I didn't start buying anything until beginning of 3rd trimester. All we really needed with my first was a carseat, a crib (or bassinet), a sleep sack (and for a summer baby, probably not at the beginning), a baby bath and shampoo, a thermometer, diapers, butt cream, and a few pajamas and onesies (that's literally all I dressed her in for the first month or two). For myself, I needed nursing bras, washable breast pads, nipple cream, and overnight maxi pads. I really found this book very helpful, as it gives you basics on how to care for a new baby - and for me that was a good way of knowing what are the essentials to prep ahead of time.
Absolutely!

I love the company. They're small and in the US (as I am too), they have a lifetime warranty. We originally got their "Tony Robin" one, but the waterproof lining made a noise when he rolled, and they let us exchange no problem. I love that it could flip for infant to toddler, our son is 16m old and used it for probably a year now and it still feels/looks brand new. Their customer service answers you so fast and they're really personable and kind. I compared it with Newton a lot, and they whole breathable thing seems like a sham TO ME because I even though both are waterproof, I still put a waterproof mattress protector on it, just in case, which seems like it would defeat the breathability.
I loved it! I’m so mad I didn’t keep it, now that it’s 40% more expensive. Strongly recommend. Just a PSA that these maternity skinny jeans from Levi are awesome! I don’t have quite enough of a bump to need them yet but they will be great for early pregnancy.

The brand is called Safe Catch! As mentioned I buy it from Costco, but here’s a link on Amazon:
I used Sky Organics Shea Butter during my pregnancy. Not sure it helped as other pointed out that stretch marks are genetic, but it sure did feel nice on my ever stretching belly. It smells great too. 16 oz is more than enough for one pregnancy. I used it even after I gave birth just because it was so nice on my belly.
Levi’s makes some baby bump jeans that have a smaller panel in front. I have the bootcut ones, but they make other versions too. I’ve found them pretty comfy, but sometimes the elastic folds down and I have to fix that.
I’ve only bought the regular ones from this company but they are buttery soft and hold up well in the wash. Plus phone pockets! They make a fleece lined pair that I’m thinking about getting too.

I didn’t want to buy a bunch of maternity clothes that I would only wear while pregnant and never use again. So I bought the maternity belt below to extend the life of my jeans/pants during pregnancy. It’s surprisingly comfortable and can stretch to the extreme so it’ll be useful until the very end of pregnancy.

I like the cheap maternity leggings from H&M for cotton/Lycra type. Buy them a size big though because they shrink! Yup, it’s not fun. I started using this nasal spray last week and it’s been helping out a bit. Doesn’t go away completely, but does clear it out for a little while.
I posted asking about pregnancy journals on here a few weeks ago. I got some good recommendations and ended up getting this one from Amazon:
Pregnancy Journal, Black and White: A nine-month journal to document every important pregnancy milestone https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GSMK226/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_2K1JV5QR3NA3XG0VRH3V?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I like it's style. It's not too "corny" which is something I was trying to avoid since I'm not really a write down my feelings type of person. There is one page about writing letters to your baby which I didn't really care for so I'm just going to remove that page (easy to do with the spiral binding).
If you're still in need of learning about the process, I read The big book of birth with my first and found it really helpful to go through the mechanics of labor and birth and various options. The reviews say it leans towards unmedicated options, I don't remember that specifically but that was also my goal, so maybe that's why. In the end I was all sorts of medicated, haha.
I really agree with everything here except I loved the SwaddleMes and just got them really tight! I would not have been able to do that with just a blanket because I am all thumbs.
People will say “my baby hated the swaddle and fought it.” But then you learn that they only tried twice and gave up. KEEP SWADDLING and the baby will get used to it.
Formula moms: give it a shot with just doing room temp water to start out to make your life so much easier. I would just keep my formula measured out in these things in his room with fresh water in the bottle ready to go for overnight feeds, or in the diaper bag. No need to worry about waiting to heat it up or a baby refusing a bottle because you’re in a situation where you can’t heat it up. He was so used to it room temp that when my bottle leaked out all of the water in the diaper bag (F YOU DOCTOR BROWN SO MUCH) he actually took the formula cold because I had to buy a bottle of water from a machine in the mall.
Related: some people like Dr Brown bottles. I think Dr Brown is Satan. Regardless, a dishwasher basket for bottle parts is chefs kiss and I used a Sterilite small drawer container on the kitchen counter to hold bottle parts and formula dispenser cups.

My first pregnancy my boobs went from a b to d by week 8, I stupidly went to VS and got sized and bought 3 new bras, only to not fit a week later. So, I bought these

And I NEVER STOPPED WEARING THEM. They're so comfy, they stretch and support. I tried the target nursing bra by auden and it was so stiff I never wore it. These also even fit the days after birth when my boobs were so big I thought they'd float away. I did try this brand in another type but it came too high and was more like a sports bra, these are still like a bra, only comfortable.
I got a few simple summer dresses from PinkBlush and wore them to my shower and a few social events. I tried to get combo outfits so that part of it I could wear while not maternity (like nice regular cardigans/shawls paired with a maternity tank from Target). Target, Gap, and Macys really came through for me.

I am from the US but I did a quick Google and it looks like you can get Kindred Bravely bras in the UK! I lived in them for my first pregnancy.
With my first I read and really liked The Big Book of Birth. It's written to present multiple options for birth and explain the process.
https://www.amazon.com/Belli-Acne-Control-Spot-Treatment/dp/B00I9MZZTC this helped me with my chin acne! I’m sure you can put it on your neck. It is pregnancy safe spot treatment. However idk if you should put on your belly, I’d ask your doc!
I'm not much of one either, but I did want to have something as a keepsake to remember the more important parts of pregnancy. I ended up buying this journal. It has weekly entries and extra pages for things like pictures of your first US, keeping track of baby shower gifts, and listing name ideas. It also has a page to write your "how we found out we were pregnant" story. It's great if you want something low-effort. It's also gorgeous.
Oops that's because I can't figure out how to link! Here it is: Growing You: Keepsake Pregnancy Journal and Memory Book for Mom and Baby https://www.amazon.com/dp/1944515976/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_CB912WTCYKM4H6HWSW7V
Not a huge diary/journal person either but I had the same desire to record this time - especially in a physical notebook. I definitely want to remember the ups and downs of this crazy time and I get teary every time I think about my future kid wanting to page through it 🥲
I looked at a few different journal options and ended up with this one. I felt like a lot of journals were too flowery/girly for me personally and this one is pretty straightforward with simple but thoughtful writing prompts, plus places to stick ultrasound photos! I also like that the binding allows for easy flip thru/writing and it's easy to take out pages Im not going to use (i.e. at the beginning there was a page to tally who in your life thinks you're have a boy or a girl). I'm happy with it so far!
I'm not into journals or diaries either, but wanted to do one for the pregnancy. Seemed like it would be cool to look back on. I bought this one, it has a short section for each week starting at week 6 were you can write whatever you want. It also has highlight page for each trimester and a page for all the major dates like day you found out, first appt, first kick etc. So far I really like it!
I have two things that I will bring to every baby shower that I swear everyone needs - baby bum brush and this wipes dispenser. These were life-changing to me, little else was, haha.

This trimmer is fantastic.

It has a detachable part too which was my go to because that way I can adjust it based on how big I get AND in case I still want cuddles from my husband haha
Seeing as some of us S+TMs are already busting out the maternity pants, I wanted to recommend these to my friends here, especially FTMs! I wore these all throughout my first pregnancy. You basically just wear your regular pants unzipped/unbuttoned, then put the belly band over them. No one can tell, and you can wear your regular pants a lot longer! I still ended up buying maternity pants too, because your girl got some thicc thighs in the third tri, but I was still glad I had the belly bands. They also work for the weird postpartum “literally nothing fits me” stage.
If you use Amazon, you can find them there. B6 Vitamins
This one was recommended to me in my first go round and it served my purposes well, but by the end the huge one would have been nice!
