I use this cheap hand plane that I got on amazon. It works well and is $20, so a great low cost way to dip your toe in
I use the bite mount it’s actually way more comfortable and secure than I thought. I have an adjustable lanyard around my neck in case I drop it. Haven’t needed it yet. I made the mistake and got one of the snorkel ones first because I thought it would be more secure, but there wasn’t a way for me to keep the water out of my mouth.
I’ve used a handplane mount and the mouth one tends to have a better angle and less splash, but when it comes down to it, you’re still inches above the waterline.
I’ve also considered this dog mount or something to your back with a pole, but it seems more trouble than its worth.
I use one on my right hand, I got it from Amazon, I'll share the link. I use it as a way to thrust into the wave as well, it acts like a big paddle but can hinder normal swimming unless you turn it sideways so it glides through the water when setting up your stroke. If you do that, you get an even more powerful boost to your swimming speed. Takes a few rides to get used to, but once you do you'll take it with you every time you go! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FCHF8LX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_GK35RSJ0453TPZBV41R1
