Shameless Plug into this: We have a podcast (2 episodes so far) talking about motorsports in the New England region
https://castbox.fm/episode/Episode-1.-Thompson-Speedway-Road-Course-id3076926-id283811517?country=us
Also don't forget new hampshire motor speedway! I did a track night in america last season there.
Amazon also sells vinyl tape in a myriad of colors. Here’s one

I just bought a garmin external bluetooth GPS antenna, and that works perfectly on Race Chrono Pro for me. It really tightened up my signal on track, as my phone was obviously crap GPS. I believe it is 10 Hz refresh rate, so not too shabby.
Its small enough that I just have it securely ziptied to my RAM mount for my phone in the windshield, so it gets a clear view of the sky. Highly recommend.

> I was surprised by how stable the Tackform mount is.
Yup. I've got the headrest mount arm thingy (which seems to now be unavailable though). I kind of expected it to have some vibration given the length of the arm, but it's rock solid.
I really like the placement too - it gives a pretty nicely balanced view between inside and outside. example
What have you done with your routing that has your engine harness exposed enough to damage it?
That needs fixing, first and foremost.
Then, you can look into things like https://www.amazon.com/Design-Engineering-010473-Fire-Sleeve/dp/B06WVNXY8W/ref=asc_df_B06WVNXY8W/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=316840855162&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=17521260710424690824&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&...
Another suggestion is to also get a valve stem clip adapter, like this one. I added one to my inflator earlier this year and it saves a lot of time over screwing the fitting on and off.
For the paddock I’ve used a small tent like this for years and it’s been great. I drag it out in the summer as well just to have a shady spot to relax between sessions. With all my gear in it I’ve only had one or two days where wind was a concern.
I wasn't using a dongle. I was using a Qstarz BT-Q818XT 10Hz 66 Channel Bluetooth GPS Receiver to get the speed and track position and timing. The overlay styles are customizable in the RaceRender app.
to remove large globs of rubber on the wheels, wheel wells, i use a power washer and just plain water or soapy water.
for the rubber marks on paint or metal, use "Mothers Rubber Tire remover". Be sure to check for price, sometimes the price is stupid. $8 for 24oz bottle is good.
Barefoot running shoes are my go to. These Merrell Vapor Gloves have worked great, especially for my wide feet. Excellent pedal feel!

I use a gopro handlebar mount, mounted to a pvc pipe with 2 holes drilled it in to fit over the posts for my seat headrest. The gopro ends up sitting right in the middle between my driver/passenger seat.
Then I use a Veepeak obd2 reader with the TrackAddict app on my iPhone 12 to get vehicle data. The TrackAddict app automatically starts the gopro recording and records vehicle and fps data once I start moving. After the fact I use RaceRender to combine the video and data into an overlay.

I bought this mount for the GoPro (or for any device that uses that type of adapter). Looks like its not available through Amazon any longer, but I'm sure something similar will be out there. Nice thing about this mount is its very solid and can be adjusted to just about any angle you might need. And when its not in use it can be folded out of the way without too much hassle.
Beware on older cars with rubber slide pin boots, the purple stuff reacts with the rubber and causes it to swell and prematurely seize the slide pins. The silicone version is the one to use in that application.
I was going to suggest this!
We use one called the "superbrella", which is just a big umbrella designed to sit on its side with some extra fabric for protection. It goes up in seconds and takes a handful of stakes to secure to the ground, and has enough room for 2 adults and a trunk full of gear. Downside is it collapses like an umbrella so it ends up being about 5 feet long when packed up, but it fits in the back of my z just fine. Wouldnt work in a miata or something small.

I’ve used one like this for several years now, rain or shine. It’s large enough for a low chair and all of my track gear; tools, cooler, jack, stands, GoPro bag, etc.
One thing to watch for with this style sunshade is many of them have “windows” with the flap on the inside. So they aren’t really weatherproof as the rain can just drip inside. This one doesn’t have any windows and zips completely up.
I think I’ve only had two days out of the last 5 years where it was too windy to get it set up. Once all of my crap is loaded into it, it’d be pretty difficult to blow away.

I got mine from Amazon and it's held up for four years now (not that I think it's something that'd necessarily "wear out," but hey). The 80 ft-lb stick would have been closer to my final torque value (BMW says 88 and I round up to 90), but I intentionally went as low as possible. All I want to do when I'm reinstalling is snug the bolts up, nothing more. I'd rather come in well under final torque.
I just bought a kit with the impact you're talking about. I think it's still on sale but long lead time. I'm excited.

I just bought a 20v 2 pack kit with newer Dewalt 1/2" impact. 250ftlbs of tightening and 450 ft-lbs of breakaway for $200.
I don't think any car has a bolt or nut on it that requires more than this that isn't already cross threaded and will need to be drilled out.
Hoping it's a great deal. It's so compact and affordable it's kinda hard to believe it will do the job.

I don't have the radio link at the moment, but here is the antenna we had attached to it

Here's what I use:
I have my wife come out and we do the "Push! Hold! Release!" while I crack the bleeder valve. If you have the tires off already, it really only takes like 10-15 minutes maybe.
I use Track Addict/Race Render with a GoPro and a wireless bluetooth OBD2 scanner. It all pairs together and works really well to get lap times, course map and position, as well as throttle/brake pressure and Gs.
As for picking up more of the car noises vs chit chat, you can use a cheap external microphone connected to your video recording device (something like this for example: https://www.amazon.com/Movo-GM100-Omnidirectional-Condenser-Microphone/dp/B00N0EA3NC/ref=sr\_1\_8?dchild=1&keywords=gopro+microphone&qid=1628681021&sr=8-8) and put it like down in the footwell (more engine noise) or run it back to the trunk (more exhaust noise). It'll also cut down on the wind noise if you do this since the onboard mic on the gopro when it's up around the windshield or between the front seats basically gets blasted with wind coming in from the windows.
If you're running PowerStop's Z23s or something, you definitely are gonna get brake fade at the track. One of the biggest differences is the operating temperature those pads are designed for - and with cars as heavy as ours, we're really gonna generate a lot of brake heat.
When I took the Hellcat out on the stock pads when I first got it, it was bad enough that I was braking about 2 cones before the braking zone just because I didn't know if they were gonna be squishy or not. They gave me absolutely no confidence (they also were down to the metal after the first day).
My fronts wear much faster than my rears. In all honesty, I could probably get 6 or so track days out of my rears. But since they're so cheap, I just replace them all at once.
I don't have a track seat and don't plan to get one. One of the main reasons I bought a Challenger over a Corvette is the comfort it gives me when I'm not driving at the track. So personally, I'd just trade for a sports car with Recaros or something before I'd swap my seat. But, I do plan to put in a racing harness and just put the harness around the big, comfortable La-Z-Boy seats. I slide around a lot on track right now and I'm always bracing on the transmission tunnel, door, or deadman's pedal. I'd love to have a harness hold me tighter to the car when I'm on track!
I run Castrol Edge full synthetic 0W-40. I don't have any complaints. I change it every 3k miles - that's a combination of my track day frequency (about 2-3 track days on the oil) and roughly halfway between my manufacturer's recommended 6k mile / 6 month interval. I just figured if I'm pushing the engine this hard, it wouldn't hurt to change the oil more often.
Total cost of an oil change is only about $40, so I figure it's worth it.
No offense taken and I appreciate the guidance.

The mount in the video is a headrest mount that I found on amazon. It is shockingly rigid and the arm is adjustable in a couple of different axes.

I do many of the same things as others have mentioned here. Here is my setup: https://imgur.com/a/3LVJRS0 It's not meant to survive thugs with heavy cutters and such, but will deter folks without tools enough to keep them away. I try to leave the trailer at the track, as they generally (not always) have security or others around who won't mess with your stuff.
Another option (something I'd like to get) is a simple motion alarm. Something like this (from a quick Amazon search) https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Anti-Theft-Vibration-Motorcycle-Waterproof/dp/B0734QN8KR/ref=sr_1_2 I would say, wrapping the trailer in a heavy tarp, hooking it all up, locking it and putting the motion alarm on it should be fine in a decent part of town. At the hotel, if you pack your stuff wisely, you can always get a dolly and cart your expensive tool box/gear into the hotel room instead of leaving it out. Takes a bit of extra time/planning, but gives peace of mind.
Extra locks around the wheels and hitch are a good idea, as well.
Thanks for that. It has to be natural fiber and can't be synthetic right? Or fire will melt it to the skin etc. A lot of them are polyester. What do you guy think about this one https://www.amazon.com/Headshion-Skull-Cap-Multifunctional-Headwear/dp/B07P1FXRYV/ref=sr_1_20_sspa
Thanks a lot, I wasn't aware of that. I use it for track days and DD, I am a beginner at track days so is M1 good for me and I am not in the extreme applications? What qualifies as extreme applications? One session is 30 min and one track event is 8 sessions per weekend, I have done 2 track weekends with M1 oil, how often do you recommend that I change it? also to double check this is what I use https://www.amazon.com/Mobil-94001-5W-30-Synthetic-Motor/dp/B000COX0JM
