Lua is very used by the gaming community in some engines but also mostly for embedding, as its very light and integrates amazingly well with C.
Also it's very simple to get started and very fast to start scripting, the syntax is very easy and clean. While javascript, even with ECMA6, not so much.
If you have any doubts with Lua, I do recommend the official Lua Manual, it's one of the best manuals out there, goes straight to the point.
I always liked the idea of Pac-Man, but never liked playing it, so I made Puckmaze.
Deliberately minimalist, with a touch-friendly way of controlling the yellow blob, and set in randomly-generated mazes.
Its not the most sophisticated, but this did the job for me: https://www.leshylabs.com/apps/sstool/
PNG files are what you are after....
You can see my app. It did the pretty explosions: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmail.james.abela.Binary_DMZ
Much better! Two more items for feedback:
1) The hearts (lives) should be bigger, maybe even double in size? I didn't know I was running out of lives, I couldn't figure out why the game was ending
2) You should really add some sound effects, just some beeps or pings when the balls collide. You can make your own sounds for free here: http://www.bfxr.net/
Cheers.
I recently ported my polymorphic solitaire engine to Corona Play store link here and the thing I spent the most time on was trying to put a vaguely material design front end on the thing. I recently read somewhere else that Corona needed some material design support (and, by extension, the equivalent for the Appleistas). It would be nice if the community could rally round and do things like that, as it may let Corona tap into a wider range of more modern app development. I'd rather that than having to switch to Flutter.
It's a lovely idea, a couple of years ago I spent a week making an app to help my students learn binary. You can download it for free at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmail.james.abela.Binary_DMZ
I was thinking at some point to open source it, would that be useful?
