You mean this one I found in under a minute on Amazon and you can have next day? https://www.amazon.com/Sunex-421mss-4-Inch-Double-Square/dp/B002YKFUAY/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?adgrpid=58647307120&dchild=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw0rr4BRCtARIsAB0_48Mf3wj7dYitaYDcUH1VKoNqLRInojYAme7ObeRvcH6CazEY1eubdksaAkrqEALw_wcB&hvadid=410061119729&a...
You aren't going to be able to do any troubleshooting on this until you get a set of gauges. Here is a cheap set that will get you started:
https://www.amazon.com/SINOCMP-Hydraulic-Pressure-Gauges-Couplings/dp/B07DRJJHMQ?th=1
These are just high pressure grease gun lines with gauges, you may have something around your shop you could make fashion this out of.
this is what you want, all you gotta do is put on the top shoe with the big spring, hook the bottom shoe into the spring and seat it, then use this tool for both of the smaller springs
I use these for Cummins and Volvo trucks ( I can get size and actual part number of mine if u want). GEARWRENCH Heavy-Duty Oil Filter Wrench 4-1/2" to 5-1/4" - 2321 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000JFN9MM/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_ARRA329N0DVXFY3WZV3P?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
For smaller filters like on automotive stuff, hydraulic filters etc I use these. https://shop.snapon.com/product/OFW4KT
I pretty well exclusively use these for all push lock plastic fittings. Sometimes theres no hope though and you need new fittings and/or lines.

I gave up on nitrile gloves, especially now since they are 50$ a box I now buy those fitted cotton gloves that have just the palm and fingers dipped for general stuff. Anything to do with fuel, oil or grease I use heavy duty rubber gloves.
I go through a pair a week of these
Tiger Tool U Joint Pullers | Heavy Duty Class 6-8 | The Original Inventor | Made in North America https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002UNP8M/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_ZYQCNSGVPKXEABSS9QTG
Those u joints can be a major pita for sure. If this is the last one you plan to do just keep hammering and use a bottle jack to push in each direction. If you plan to see more in the future buy a puller they are 100% worth it.Don't worry about breaking the flat part off I know you already did. You will need a new u joint today anyway.
Grab an oil sample pump and some 1/4inch tubing and get it through the dipstick here is the pump Oil Analysis Sampling Pump - Accurate Oil Extraction of Various Engine Oil https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083QDRHCV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_5PAQSAQGD91N8KRT3S1R?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Take the opportunity. This tool is handy. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009W9BT0/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
But actually most fasteners aren't that huge unless you're doing suspension work or heavy equipment. I did most of my work in school with a half inch ratchet and two rails that go to like 25mm and 1". I got a sunex deep impact set and a 1/2" nitrocat impact gun, and a tekton big wrench set. Also a precision instruments brand torque wrench, 1/2", does several hundred foot pounds. Got their inch pounds wrench too. Don't forget a long 1/2" breaker bar, pry bars, crows foot bar. And leave your adjustable wrench at home where it belongs, other than that rigid one I posted. =] All that said, I later realized I want to work on sprinters, so I don't need that big of tools anyhow.
Awesome! Thanks for the info. I already have a good portion of the listed items and don't need the rest until fall, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to keep an eye out for good deals on the rest in the mean time.
If I can trouble you again, I've been reading "Troubleshooting & Repairing Diesel Engines" and "Heavy Duty Truck Systems" as a means of getting some familiarity. Are there any other sources you would suggest as far as books/websites/forums?
