I am going to also suggest vet visit to rule out medical issues first. Also discuss with your vet whether a referral to a veterinary behaviorist is worthwhile.
Have you since had her spayed or is she still intact?
One thing that has helped some puppies or mothers is a Snuggle Puppy. Although, to be honest, I am not sure if it would make things worse for her if you did not preemptively change batteries on the heartbeat simulator and the battery ran down when you weren't nearby.
Did you consider getting a strong cage? I bought one for my 80 lb pitbull that kept escaping his normal cage. He tore up our couch and quite a few other things. I bought a 42” one from amazon. It looks like the other size is 48” but I’m not sure if that’s big enough for your pup. It has worked well so far.
Edit: sorry about the long unseemly looking link. I don’t know how to make words into links on mobile.
I really enjoyed this book which has a LOT about dog play and reading their cues:

Canine Confidential: Why Dogs Do What They Do
by Marc Bekoff
My dog only liked fresh water. Would only drink it if I had just refilled the bowl (and had watched me do it.... little diva). I agree, try changing the bowl material and size. Dogs also can taste water and can tell where it is from. It is possible your dog doesn't like your tap water? Might seem silly but maybe get a water filter for their water? Also you can try using something like this if you think it is the amount of water that your pup doesn't like. Do they drink out of the dish if the dish has very little water in it? Maybe they don't like their nose getting wet?
We found this to really help.

Do you have him on kibble? I’ve been reading that fresh/protein based diets contain more moisture and thus, satisfies a lot of that need in dogs. Seems to be the case so far for my 73-lb and 54-lb boys.
I’m sorry your dog is going through so much stress and anxiety. I cannot recommend this book highly enough: Cooperative Care: 7 Steps to Stress-Free Husbandry
I would also consider getting a dremmel and desensitizing/counter-conditioning him to thay instead of to the nail clippers, because he already has hundreds of negative associations with the nail clippers so they will be very hard to overcome.
I would also look for a fear-free groomer (and probably also a fear-free vet since it sounds like his anxiety is fairly broad) via Fear-Free Happy Homes:
I second this. Get a vet checkup to make sure there’s nothing medically bothering her.
If it’s the fireworks or thunder my sister got a “thunder vest” for her dog. It seems to help.

Just had this happen with my pup. Switched to a completely different harness, and no more collar around his neck. I also brought him to the vet for antibiotics and cough medicine. He’s high risk for tracheal collapse at only 7 pounds and 11 years old.

Eventually he looked forward to us leaving because he knew he would get his busy ball.
I have a lab/pit mix and I live in Wisconsin, so we understand cold and snow around here. I have a couple of different coats I use with my guy. He has the lighter pittie fur with not much on the belly.
When he gets cold, he tends to cuddle up against my legs when we are outside. He uses the red coat in the fall as he is getting used to colder weather and the blue one when it is really cold out. When we are out running around at the park he doesn't really care about the cold and I don't bother with a coat unless it is below 0. When it is below 0 I make him wear the blue coat since it covers his belly as well as his back and is water resistant for when he plows through the snow and the ice. I can't get him to do booties, but I use Musher's paw wax on his feet to keep the snow and ice from sticking to them.
I would definitely recommend a coat. Make sure to take good measurements of her. Like my guy, the chest is going to be your biggest issue. The coat may seem too large in other areas, but you need it to fit around the broad chest.

I have two Jack Russels, both wear sweaters indoors in the colder months and both absolutely love it. I felt silly putting them on at first as well but they are comfortable now which really is all that matters. Our favorites are these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RM14WNQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They are relatively cheap, easy to put on, and they have that ring on the back so they can even wear them for walkies when needed.
There are some behavioral aid toys (cuddling toys) which might be useful. SmartPetLove is the most popular, but there are some cheaper versions as well.

A peanut filled and frozen Kong might also help to reduce the anxiety.
I have a wooden based puppy toilet as I am disabled and can't always let my dog out, I didn't need to train her to use it as it was natural to her as it smells like outside, I would try that if puppy pads don't work,

The one I have is no longer sold on amazon, But something like this can also is helpful for them,
But when they do use it make sure to reinforce it
There are nutritionally complete vegan kibbles which are totally fine and healthy for dogs - it isn't cruel to feed a dog vegan if you use one of these products to make sure they're getting everything they need. This would be a great starting point. You can also make normal vegetables more appealing by cooking them and flavouring them with dog-friendly seasoning toppers.
Would it be possible to gift them sessions with a trainer in addition? I find in person help to be invaluable.
Besides that, Control Unleashed is a great book: https://www.amazon.com/Control-Unleashed-Creating-Focused-Confident/dp/B000UCF53A
I have a 6 year old American Bully and up until I got her last spring, she had had absolutely no leash training. She had never gotten walks at all and she pulls out of pure excitement. I tried a prong collar and she just ignored it. Someone gave me a 2 handled leash (linked below) that has helped quite a bit. When she starts pulling, I grab the lower handle and she's forced to walk by my side, at my speed, until she calms down. Lately she's pulling considerably less than she used to so I think its working but it may take time.
You can get a bench to place at the foot of the bed or even repurpose one of those bedside cribs for your dog to lay on.
If you want to get fancy, you can get an elevated dog bed with stairs to put next to your side of the bed. So you can have what you want (your dog next to you) while respecting your wife's wishes. Here's a link of an example of what I'm talking about {link}
I haven’t seen this suggested yet, is there a reason why you haven’t tried regular clippers? This pair is for large dogs and has a safety guard to avoid clipping too short. This might be the best option in order to get it over with more quickly, and avoid the sound. You could use a peanut butter mat or one of the other suggestions mentioned here, turn on some relaxing music, etc. Get him comfortable and just act like you’re giving him pets, or a little paw massage. Then discreetly just cut them one by one.

If this is a yeast infection you will not do much without actually finding the cause, they are opportunistic and forms from things like a lack of healthy bacteria. Something is causing it. The only thing you can really do on your own is medicated baths such as
This is anti-fungal and antibacterial. It will also clean and sooth. It is ideally down 2x a week. Your vet should have something similar so if you call them you can grab it from them, but you do not need a prescription to buy it online or at some pet stores/feed stores. (Do not buy the natural oats stuff, while those can help to sooth you want the stronger stuff with ingredients like Chlorhexidine)
But again, while this will help short term, you need to find the cause. If you have not already, you maybe want to ask for a referral to specialist. They can help figure out if it is environmental. If it is food allergy they can help on an elimination diet, but your regular vet should be able to help on that as well. And if it not a allergy at all then the specialist should be able to help further

These are the ones I bought. No idea whether they're the best or cheapest. Just putting them here so you can see what they look like
My 4 year old has been the same way for years (takes multiple pills two times/day) and pill pockets like these (Milk-Bone Pill Pouches Dog... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HEFT7CU?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) work wonders - he used to eat around whatever I put the pill in (peanut butter, cheese, etc) and he just gulps these down. Can split them in half and use half/pill too to make them last longer
This is the couch cover I have for my couch. I needed one that was waterproof, as my dog has urinary incontinence and occasional accidents, despite medications. The grippy backing sheds the first few washes a ton, but less with each washing. You'll also need to adjust the position frequently, as it has a tendency to move around (though I've seen this comment with all brands of this style). The company also sells stretchy covers that cover the whole sofa, but I preferred this look instead.
Dehydrated beets! They are a life saver. I have a GSD with terrible itchiness and this helps him a lot. I sprinkle a spoonful of the dried beets onto his food. I also give him Finn Allergy chews, but I would maybe check with your vet if these would be good for your pup.

Riker here: My new human get me one of these manatee toys and so far I haven’t put a hole in it yet! I’m 8 weeks 4 days today, and my gums are killing me! This toy is a must!
I agree that you should totally be able to throw your dog’s poop in that public garbage can, but if you end up holding on to it throughout your walk to throw it away at home, I’d recommend getting one of these. You wrap it around the leash handle and as long as you make a big enough knot in your poop bag, it will hold it so you can have your hands free. I keep one on my dog’s leash and use it all the time. It’s really nice not to have to wonder when you’ll find a trash can. When I get home, I toss it in my outdoor garbage bin.
Try one of these nail trim hammocks.
Suitical! It’s what I used for my dog for his neutering because I felt bad about him being in a cone all day so when he was with me he’d be in just the suitical and then at night we did both cone and suitical. It’s a bit pricey but worth it! Here’s a link: https://www.chewy.com/suitical-recovery-suit-dogs/dp/140885
My jack chi stopped eating her food when she turned two, but the company changed the formula. I started adding food topper seasoning to her food, just a tiny bit, and she eats no problem.

there are several flavors, my girl likes peanut butter a lot so I get her that one.

Maybe something like this? Unfortunately the best ones run close to $100, they last forever though.
You could do either. Or even a mixture. Usually wet food is more expensive than dry and you will need more wet food to meet their calorie needs. The most cost effective is dry. With our clients we usually just do dry or have them mix the dry with a bit of wet to encourage the dog to eat.
Tip: Start with getting a small bag of food incase it does not help or your dog does not want to eat it, it can be kind of pricey with large bags if you pet doesn't end up eating it.
At the clinic I work at we kind of do the same thing. Start with a parasite screen, try antibiotics, try probiotics. However the food we recommend is Royal Canin GI Low Fat. Sometimes the Purina one is still too rich in things the dog is sensitive to. You could ask your vet to approve a script and you can order it from Chewy.com or if your vet carries it then even better. They do have a puppy version of this food too, so ask your vet if that would be better. We usually have great success with this food.
An amazing product you should get for accidents like these are Kwik Stop. It is a powder that you take a pinch of and pack onto where you went too short. It stops it very quickly and you can leave it on until it rubs off on its own. Depending on how short you accidently go it usually doesn't re open after a few minutes. We have it in every room at our clinic because sometimes accidents just happen, it is not something to beat yourself up over. I have it in my dog/cat first aid kit at home even.
what about one of these?
If you don't treat your home with an insect growth regulator, the topical treatments won't do a lot of good. This and this are the best for treating fleas in your home. Follow the directions carefully and allow the product to fully dry before letting your pets back into the area. Also if the dog isn't on a preventive that treats tapeworm, you may want to consider that too. They can get tapeworm from fleas. If your dogs heartworm preventive contains praziquantel, they're already protected.
He’s young, so it’s unlikely. You can try getting him a cooling bed or a cot-type elevated dog bed like this if he prefers a cooler surface.
You know what that means OP... Time to blow through our paychecks on the fur childrens favorite stuff :3
We have water dishes that attach to the side of any crate and hold the bowl, this one to be exact.
You could try collagen sticks. They get kinda mushy as pup chews on them.
I bought these for my boys, and it took a good 2 hours of chewing before I took them away. In that time they had chewed through about 1/2 of the stick.
Block the area off with something like pet fencing, for example, to keep her from accessing that spot.
Same issue! She has dew claws so I HAVE to cut them but she’s a baby about it. She let me use these yesterday

I would, especially if he has skin issues. Whether he really needs it is hard to say. Some dogs don't mind the cold at all, others get chilly easily. It also depends on the temperature. But a dog of this size and coat type I think would definitely benefit from a coat in anything below freezing.
I'd also recommend boots for when it's really cold or for if you walk on salty roads or side walks. Even "pet safe" salt can be very harsh on their little feet! I put boots on my dog whenever it's below 20°F or if we're walking on the road. I can't give any real recommendations because I sewed them myself lol, but they're this style. Never tried the kind with actual rubber soles because I'm not sure my dog would like them.
Do you have a cone for your dog? I’d recommend the comfy cone https://www.chewy.com/comfy-cone-e-collar-dogs-cats-tan/dp/134255 You can take the plastic pieces out so it’s squishy. My dog had a similar size scrape which he wouldn’t leave alone, and it got a lot worse from the licking before we got him into a cone for about a week. Good luck!
I haven't personally tried it, and based on the ingredients I know it won't be as effective as something like OFF, but Vet's Best makes one that is safe to spray on your dig (who tbh nay not like the scent) as well as on humans.
It’ll take some digging, but there’s first aid books out there for pets, like this one https://www.amazon.com/First-Companion-Dogs-Cats-Prevention/dp/1579543650
If you feel embarrassed about asking way too many questions, you need to familiarize yourself with what’s “normal” for your animal and quick fixes in emergencies until you can get to a vet
When you go to the vet ask it it's OK to use 'Curaseb Shampoo.' The shampoo is used my many vet offices - it's anti-bacterial, anti-yeast, and anti-fungal. But first I think you need a diagnosis. Usually the vet will take a scraping of the lesions and send it to the lab for diagnosis. (BTW the seb derm shampoo sunniyam mentioned sounds like the Curaseb Shampoo our vet uses, it covers many different skin issues).
https://www.amazon.com/Curaseb-Chlorhexidine-Shampoo-Dogs-Cats/dp/B01LZB7VM3?th=1
First you need to rule out a UTI. Then they’ll do blood tests to check for other illnesses that could cause it. If both of those come back fine then the next step is medication.
I personally tried bladder supper supplements first and have had a good outcome with them - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07FTMQYGV?pd_rd_i=B07FTMQYGV&pf_rd_p=95577907-81d6-4161-9b53-adeca649e465&pf_rd_r=RWWHTMH9H2NEAJPH1YBP&pd_rd_wg=MuxMZ&pd_rd_w=iDuak&pd_rd_r=f070aaeb-98c3-4a72-b0fd-24246642b7f5
I am keeping a close eye on her but so far she has stopped leaks all together
I have had some really good success with a supplement. My dog used to leak when she was asleep and it came on suddenly when she was 2. Ruled out UTI and did blood tests at the vet. All fine and he said it’s spay incontinence.
These are the supplements: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07FTMQYGV?pd_rd_i=B07FTMQYGV&pf_rd_p=95577907-81d6-4161-9b53-adeca649e465&pf_rd_r=RWWHTMH9H2NEAJPH1YBP&pd_rd_wg=MuxMZ&pd_rd_w=iDuak&pd_rd_r=f070aaeb-98c3-4a72-b0fd-24246642b7f5
And I have seen a definite improvement and we’ve only been using them for a few weeks.
Like you, I am wary of the side effects of the hormone medication from the vets so wanted to try other options first. The vet said that I was fine to as there is no medical need to go on the hormone tablets, it’s more personal human need because I don’t want wee in my house.
My dog was nervous around strangers and was more at ease if I put him in his crate. If you’re dog isn’t used to a crate, maybe you could use a doggie gate to keep him separated.
I believe you’re looking for ideas on how to train your dog to be friendly with strangers. I can’t help with that. In the meantime you can keep everyone safe.
I just got to a place where I accepted my dog for who he was and modified my expectations. I’m not suggesting that that is the right step for you since I don’t know you or your dog. I wish you well. 😊
I believe chicken allergies are one of the most common allergies, but your dog may just be sensitive. You should look into Purina Pro Plan sensitive skin & stomach if you're looking for pro plan. They have lamb, turkey, salmon, etc. The reason being because these proteins are not as common, so they usually won't upset a dogs tummy. However, if you just want to try a different protein and not Pro Plan, I recommend beef. My dog loves it and chicken just wasn't doing it for her!
My dog of 15 years has been battling this and ear infections for years. I took him to the vet multiple times and tried all different kinds of medicines. They thought he may have a food allergy and we also tried all kinds of different diets. Ultimately, this ended up fixing all of his issues in just a couple of weeks. I had zero faith that probiotics would fix something like this but it did for him. It may be worth a shot. https://www.amazon.com/Grain-Free-Probiotics-Dogs-Constipation/dp/B01N6PQ02G/ref=mp_s_a_1_18?crid=QIVHUTVWQEAB&keywords=dog+probiotics&qid=1660392795&sprefix=dog+probio%2Caps%2C202&sr=8-18
That sucks. My vet sent me a list of products that actually work for teeth cleaning, and the only treats/bones that have been shown to work are Dentalife and Whimzees (that I could easily find from my local pet store/chewy).
He said that it should take them at least 10 minutes to chew on them to be effective. The Dentalife barely last 5 minutes but the whimzees last longer. If I recall correctly Dentalife were shown to be effective for just tartar or plaque (can’t remember which) And whimzees were shown to be effective for both.
Another product on the approved list (I believe it was put out by the VOHC) was Plaque Off Powder which is more cost effective and has been proven to work both for plaque and tartar. You just sprinkle a couple of spoonfuls on their food (I’ve done wet and dry but wet works better on my pickier eater).
I started a combination of Whimzees, Dentalife and Plaque Off and both my dog’s teeth improved (according to the vet). This is a good reminder as recently we’ve just been doing Whimzees and my bigger boy’s breath reeks, so I’ll add the Plaque off back in.
For reference, both are saluki mixes, male is 60lbs and female is 50lbs. Medium Whimzees work for her, but I have to get the large ones for him. The Large Dentalife are consumed in minutes and I only use them if I run out of Whimzees or need a distraction. I use two scoops of the Plaque off for her (tiny scooper provided) and 3 scoops for him. The small bottle I have is 60g and a scoop is 330mg (180 scoops) for $20.

They will scooting if it’s yeast too. I had a dog go through the same thing. The yeast was just all over her under carriage and backside.
Also this shampoo and spray works…

You’ll find the spray on there as well.
Puzzle feeders and snuffle mats are great! They work the brain and make them work for their food. Some statistics say 10 minutes of snuffling = 1 hour walk stimulation-wise.
Outward Hound makes ones that increase in difficulty so once they get one down you can move them to a harder one.
Also look into getting him involved with things like agility training or nose work. Yes, you will be spending time at classes, but it is more structured and will help get his energy directed appropriately.
my dog loves this benebone stick, it’s the only toy that keeps him occupied

Just bought the toothpaste gel. I already brush my pup's teeth and needed another tube soon. Maybe this will compound on the PlaqueOff powder and she'll look like she got a tooth bleaching!
That's more tartar then I would expect on the canines, given the back teeth I can see.
It's hard to tell from the picture if the gums are swollen or if it's just an optical illusion. If you rub your fingers on them, they should not be spongy at all. And, if they bleed, then it's off to the vet for a proper cleaning ASAP.
Otherwise, it's just like with your own teeth: You either spend some $ and brush now, or spend more $$$ and have more work done later.
I came across this on this sub. My dog has not been on it long enough for me to tell if it's marketing or not, but seems promising from the reviews. Maybe someone reading this has used it and can confirm/deny.

Try these They’re beef bones My Aussie loves gnawing on things and we’ve switched from nylabones to these. Tastes better and the dogs not eating pieces of “nontoxic” plastic.
My senior dog has no interest in toys, but does love food, so I have found any puzzle toy that involves food will make her happy. She likes a variety of Kong toys - the ball, the wobble, the oval one, where she can bat it around for treats. She doesn’t like frozen ones, and won’t use them.
I’ve tried bones, balls, sticks, chews, stuffed toys…zero interest.
Got this recently on a whim because I’m trying to get her to have any interest in soft toys, and she actually really likes it. It crinkles, tugs, squishes, squeaks and dispenses treats. :)
Worth a trip to the vet, but until you can get there I would recommend Malacetic HC wipes. Our dog has pretty bad allergies and it’s something we use every day to keep her skin healthy. It was recommended by her doggy dermatologist

Soft dog carrier approved by TSA (hard carriers can be unwieldy when trying to maneuver onboard) and “Licks” for dogs is a natural calming pill-free supplement. I used it for my dog on a flight across country. They worked really well on my mutt. She had a very sensitive stomach and did beautifully.
I have a dog who can’t take doggy tranquilizers, so at our vets suggestion we use this pheromone spray to keep him calm during fireworks. It’s not as good as a doggy Xanax, but it works pretty well. My vet keeps it in stock, but it looks like you can buy online directly.
Consider a bowl that clips to the crate, like this: https://www.chewy.com/midwest-stainless-steel-snapy-fit-dog/dp/50142 Then they can't tip it.
i bought this car seat for my dog after i got into an accident a few years ago and he ended up getting hurt with a dislocated shoulder and torn ligaments. the car seat works great and it gave him height to look out the window
I have a Kurgo dog seat (see https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004699SHW). It hangs off the car head rest, and allows the dog to sit up high and see out of the window. You attach a clip to both the seatbelt and the dog’s harness to keep it safe in case of an accident.
It works well, and my dog likes it. It has the added benefit of containing the mud, if you have a wet dog.
You could perhaps make something like this, but if you do, make sure you understand how they put things together to keep the dog safe in an accident.
next time remove everything from /ref=

My dogs really like these. They are pretty small, but helpful for training/when you need to give quite a few.

Fat tick, but can't see if the head is missing. Depends on how you pulled it.
I bought a few of these. I put one inside the poop bag, car, etc.. They get the whole tick and don't squish it, which is nasty.
I used this one + Witch Hazel from Walmart + Water. Can't recall the exact recipe, but probably from the top of Google results:
2 teaspoons of witch hazel and 5 drops of essential oil in 4 tablespoons of water
I have used Tramadol (pain), Methacarbomol (muscle relaxers) and anti-inflammatories. Also get flower essences to put in his water. https://www.chewy.com/botanical-animal-flower-essences/dp/236335. Wrap pills in ham (strong smell to stimulate appetite), CBD, also, cool pac around wound to help with inflammation & numbing. Be sure wrapped in something. So sorry this happened. You need to call the police or animal control ( sometimes they deal with abuse of an animal)
I have heard of this special wax you put on dog's paws to provide a barrier from extreme heat or cold.
We are in an apartment complex with tons of trees and shade, and we take our big boy to places where he won't be traipsing on hot pavement... But, I may try it this winter for the icy conditions.
For anyone that has a small dog, this is the one I got for my dog. He’s 10 lbs. I got the medium size because he’s about 15.5 in and the mat is 30 in long
The cooling mat helps prevent overheating. No need for refrigeration. It keeps them cool for 3 hrs. It automatically charges itself for 15-20min. The gel is activated by the pet’s weight. Can be used for indoors like in the car, furniture, floors, bed.
Do you guys have a cooling mat? I suggest getting one! My dog almost overheated so I invested in one. I got it from Amazon and also another one for my cousin’s dogs. It’s so cooling, I even got one for myself on the way now 😂 also turn on your fan too
Here’s the link. This is the large size. TheGreenPetShopDogCoolingMat - Large
Today was the hottest day in our area, almost 90
This is the trashy solution. Hey, you’re safer, especially travelling unescorted if you don’t exit your vehicle. https://www.amazon.com/Urination-Hand-held-Leak-Proof-Incontinence-Wheelchair/dp/B07XRM2YHV/ref=sr\_1\_7?crid=1972F8JR7RYWJ&keywords=ladies+portable+urinal&qid=1655836824&sprefix=ladies+porti%2Caps%2C126&sr=8-7.
Wear a long skirt and sans panties. Who’s gonna know? And your dogs certainly don’t care.
Source: y dog got a laceration over the eyelid once and this is what vet recommended:
Do not get something that goes on the ground or around a ground-mounted fixture. Find a trolley style one like this that you can put between 2 trees (or whatever) and enough tether to let the dog go under a shade. Also, clip it to the back, with a harness.
This is safer and gives the dog more movement, but remember that you shouldn't (cannot in the USA) leave the dog unattended, though. Even if it's your own home. Here is a break down of tether laws by state.
Here’s the link if you want to ask your vet about it Sileo
Something off the ground like this. Helps with airflow and its breathable material. You can always throw a cooling mat on top. If you have floor AC vents, you can place it over one for a bit of extra cooling.
it won’t completely stop it of course but I would recommend the espree deshed conditioner. The shampoo too, but the conditioner is more important. That and using a strong blowdryer to blow out the coat.
I have a German Shepherd who has developed some arthritis in her back hips that has caused her to be much less active and lose muscle tone, so she was also developing some weakness in her back legs. I did some research and found these supplements that contain some sort of green mussel called Perna canaliculus and it has been like a miracle for my girl! Within a matter of days she was back to getting on and off the bed without my help and within two weeks she was running around the yard like nothing had ever been wrong.
Obviously what works for one dog won’t necessarily work for all of them but I have just found the stuff to be a miracle solution for my dog so it’s worth a try!
