I have the High Tech Speed Proton 500 flush mounts on my 2014 model. They are super, super bright. Here is a pic: https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipMzBq0msDQtCvuJ_LnIWTLMb0JEPQQbFK4AxkFOdUfFfSUm4DMcJhqi56wu177Fvg?key=Nl9IZERzQVRUQkhMRzI1bkZhenJBMXlRLTdFYVpn

I'd recommend a different switch though. This is a double switch, one momentary for my garage door opener, the other one is push on/off for the lights. It's perfect for my needs though.
The wiring is pretty straightforward, the lights are only 10w each so I didn't use a relay.
I tapped power from under the fake left side air intake, there's a plug that's intended for the oem handgrip heaters, it's 12v fused from the factory. (TwoWheelObsession pointed it out in his video installing self-canceling turnsignals, he's a YouTuber if you're not familiar)
Since I have no intention of installing heaters, I just cut the plug and spliced into the factory wiring. It's also switched with the ignition, so no worries about leaving the lights on by mistake.
It's probably best to simply use a fog light relay/diagram similar to this one and run your own wiring directly from the battery.
https://images.app.goo.gl/aUvz3tiRYbQcsrR68
The wires for the handgrip heaters are very short, and taped/ziptied to each other. Honestly, if I could start the installation over I'd probably do it that way instead.
By the time I realized that would be easier, I had already cut some wires and tried splicing into the higbeam switch. Which was my original idea, make it so that when higbeams were on so were the foglights.
I was unsuccessful in utilizing the factory higbeam switch, so I just bought the switch linked above.
These will make the standard mirrors functional.
They extend the mirrors ~35mm and visibility is fantastic. They still look like stock mirrors - but functionally they can't be beat.
I really like that suspension, full exhaust and a good ECU flash is done on this bike with 8k miles...I do all maint. at home so mileage isnt too concerning.
However, I could get a 2017 with a few small mods and the better 2017 fueling/throttle response from the factory.
Here are the bikes in question....priced them down to 6,000 for modded out 2016 and 6,300 for the 2017.
Both have stabilizer.

This was the closest but would still need to have an adapter made to line up with the holes under the seat. The other one I tried would need something to make the turn indicators fit.
You can buy a matching set, ignition, gas cap, and seat lock for pretty cheap. Looks like ebay and Amazon have them for ~$35.

Lights are plenty bright enough to fill in the dark area while cornering with the 2017 headlight, but not so bright you'll be blinding everyone on the road.
They're mounted using the two hex bolts under the headlight. I made zero modifications to the bike other than installing a switch.

Yeah, I get that, but I'm looking to see if there's basically a plug for the exposed cable vs having to jump it with a wire or worse, a paperclip. For example, they have them for PC power supplies
Found it on Amazon, should be This one
Not much of a windscreen since those don't work for me anyway (at 6'7/201cm). I just wanted to have something that makes it easier to wipe the bugs off. And I also think it compliments the lines of the bike a bit better.
If you zoom in you can see the bracket that mounts on either side to the passenger pegs.
The brackets have bars that extend out either side and slip inside a spot on either bag to hold them away from the tire. Then they just have plastic buckles that hold it together..

I’d say, go with these if you’re looking for a bargain.

Yeah the GoPro adapter is annoying and honestly not that great. I’ve had a myriad of issues with finding somewhere to put it as well as loose connections ruining the sound quality. Pretty frustrating to say the least. For mounting purposes the best thing I’ve found is a purpose built case with an extra slot under the camera where the adaptor fits. You can get the cases pretty cheap on Amazon like this one
I used these with good results.

These are brilliant. It doesn’t seem possible that an item this cheap (US$17) could work so well but it’s awesome. I wouldn’t have a motorcycle without one now. There are several testimonial videos on YouTube which is how I found out about it myself.

After a bunch of research, there's many benefits of switching over to lithium. It's spendy compared to a lead acid battery that is stock.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079VQM394
This is the battery I purchased, if you use a trickle charger, you will need to check if it is lithium capable, that and the price are the only downside of switching over. Otherwise, local parts store is your best bet.
3 years is normal lifespan for the lead acid battery. you're about that time on a 2017
I use the stealth mirror on the left and this bar end on the right.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000K7OFYA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_7loUk4oCn3X8L
The bar end lets me see everything beside and behind me, while the stealth just covers my left flank. I used to have bar ends on both sides, but they get in the way of hanging my helmet on the bar end. Now I can hang my helmet on the left bar end.
Mine makes very little difference at highway (motorway here) speeds. I don't think it'll do what you want, so leaving this as an FYI in case you were tempted
I have this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T2G7MMD/

They spread your arms out a little more and the hardest part is lining up the little holes you have to drill for all the controls to mount into. Also keep in mind there won't allow any bar end stuff. And here's an Amazon link they are referred to as the protapers contour high. Pro Taper Contour Cr High Handlebars - Red https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M9IB6PE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_QCkYCb16QXWBD
or you can just get a plug from Amazon and paint the top black
I got these, front and rear. I like them because not a lot of aftermarkets give the option of a running light. The rear signals also have a third wire to tap into the brake wire, so you get red running lights on the rear, that light up when you brake. They're also bright as hell. Only had them on for a week or two, so cannot speak to their longevity, but they seems solid. Front left has a problem cutting off the running light when blinking, so it blinks white and amber. Currently talking with support about the issue but it's not a big deal.
Flyscreen Shield this is the Amazon link. I got it for the looks, does 0 for wind protection, but I'm sure that's obvious by looking at it!

Kolpin 92185 Geartector Mitts Black
Jokes aside, buy some snowmobile gloves and heated grips. The gloves should have thinner palms and heavy outer layers.
For the heated grips I have been very impressed with the tusk lock on one's. Their about 50usd. Got mine from Rocky mountain atv Mc but you can probably get em anywhere.
Mirror Hole Plugs These are the ones I'm using
The levers are short style branded "Ride it" on Amazon

They're pretty good for the price. I've had them for about 4 months now, and they haven't faded and fit well. The metal feels just as good as my CRG levers I had on another bike, but the clickers are not as easy to adjust. They work just fine, but definitely a set it and forget it sort of thing.

As for the windshield, it works really well. It's the OEM Yamaha Sport Screen. I commute a lot more than I thought I was going to and it helps a lot with getting buffeted by the wind. If you're just carving canyons and around town it's not worth $200 (I got mine on Ebay for $80) but if you do a lot of highway at 65+mph it's worth it. I'm 5'10" and it pushes the wind up to my shoulders when sitting up straight, which I prefer, but does make wind noise more pronounced. Not unbearable but like anytime you ride long miles definitely worth wearing earplugs.

I’ve had this one for a year and a half and it works great. Has straps to keep it secure and it’s fairly adjustable position wise.

My horns were only $30. I gotta fight semi trucks every day on my commute, so this is the only thing they sometimes pay attention to.
don’t wax a matte finish - it will get glossy ;)
there are some special products for matte coats, but it’s generally more prone to damage than glossy ones. i’m using this one on my night fluo 2018: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B00JAYJ1NE?ref_=pe_3044161_248799201_302_E_DDE_dt_1
works well (it feels like a wax coat on a glossy finish) but I don’t have any long term experience.
I have a 14 orange, too. These have just enough orange, but not over there top. I really like them for a warm weather glove.

I've used a Nelson Rigg cover for all my bikes. Sold my ST1300 this Summer as well but kept my Falcon Defender cover. I have the Large and it's far too big for my FZ. That Dowcover you're looking at seems to be a similar product in construction. I love my cover.
Just last week I picked up the Nelson-Rigg UV-2000 half cover in Medium and its been working great keeping dew, rain, and sun in the summer off the bike. Fits the FZ perfectly.
Oh yeah I forgot they are programmable! Another benefit. I did purchase the TST 3-3 signal plug converters and crimped them to the proton 500's wiring. That's the only downside is that the protons don't have connectors built in, so you either have to crimp them or solder them
M4 slip on here too. I bought it and installed it two days after buying the 2017. Best money I've spent on it so far. $380 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K36BUGO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Akrapovic is a great option too! They sound just as good. FYI you'll need a grinding wheel or saws-all to cut the old pipe, and thermal paste (or whatever it's called) to seal up the new one
All i know is, ive never seen an Akra like this...I'd stay away. I recommend the M4 slip-on or the Akra full system (the slip-on doesn't say it fits the FZ-09, but it might)
Yeah they are only for the front. I have the motodynamic integrated taillight. Also have the motodynamic fender eliminator which gives you the option to also use your stock rear signals or aftermarkets
If you click that link and scroll all the way down you should be able to choose the fz-09. The only other thing you would need is this but that's only if you want the running light to stay on. You can either solder the wires together or use crimp connectors which is what I did
not the first guy but I use the same setup and can't understand why people use the U-bolt bar mount when this option is available

Find something like this

Not sure if fz and mt parts are interchangeable but just search "lowering links"
Also, you don't want to adjust your suspension for height, it's for rebound and damping. You want to calibrate that to your weight.
I havent taken it outside yet, but it pretty damn bright. Its also a spot light and not a flood light.

They're also pretty cost effective.
Highly recommend the Motodynamic fender eliminator (tail tidy) and Motodynamic integrated taillight. Installation was simple, especially for a dummy like myself. The fender eliminator comes with a really bright license plate light too. Also, they are both relatively cheap

Personally, I don't like the look at all. It's also not as throaty sounding as I like. I'd put out the extra $54 and get what I have.
Yeah just grab an allen key and take out the one and only bolt that holds it in. It's underneath the rubber button towards the tip of the muffler on the swingarm side. If you accidentally drop the bolt inside the muffler it's no big deal you can fish it out in under a minute with one of these
I used: GPS Speedometer because it was the only one that offered a white background.
I also used DigiHUD and found the same thing but only around 66kph (it was too dark so I pulled over and found the first one so i could test at 100 ^^^130 and read it with a quick glance.
Lead up:
Before I had the tank bag / app I did notice that traffic was crazy fast, I'd merge in and even the slow lane was 10 over... I figured it was just a good ride but then i pulled up beside a Civic and found that his HUD said ~120 and mine said ~130...)
