you can buy fireplace safe paint on amazon, the stuff I've seen is black but it's possible they sell it in white. Regardless, if you're worried about it not being the correct paint you could paint over it with the fireproof stuff?
Wouldn’t worry about it. A have seen warranties of these types of fireplaces that specifically state the warranty doesn’t cover “cosmetic hairline cracks”. Monitor it or get a cast iron fireplace back if you are concerned.
Here is an example:
Weird. I just posted this link elsewhere, but maybe throw some decorative bulbs in? (Im not obsessed with them, i swear! Theyre just neat. )

They are a mineral wool used as fake embers. They don’t burn, what you saw was just some residual gas burning off after you turned it off, totally normal. You might see a small flame for a minute or so after you turn the unit off. The embers do look pretty worn out, they don’t last for ever.
You can buy a new bag and replace them with new ones if you want to freshen it up a bit. Just make sure to break the embers up into really tiny pieces.
Yeah I am starting to lean towards getting a blower of some sort. It seems like Fasco brand is the one to get. like thisI have been trying to find pictures of what are in those blower boxes like you have. Is it insulated to keep the noise down? Anything else in it besides a blower?

Well that definitely doesn’t look like the right type of sand. Did you use regular play sand? It looks very coarse. The sand used for gas logs is very fine. The whole burner should be filled with sand covering the tubes completely.
You will need this type of sand for a gas log burner. That bag will be enough for what you need.
Vacuum that stuff out and try the sand ilinked. I think you’ll find it works much better.
I don't thing vinegar would take off white haze ..try somtking like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001AWFLHY?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details
I have a similar setup and these seem identical to the existing fans. I will know more this weekend when I replace them. Fasco 50747-D600 Centrifugal Blower with Sleeve Bearing, 3,200 rpm, 115V, 60Hz, 0.52 amps https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0099CFJW4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_YQZ31B1CWEZEHQRXCDJT
I actually purchased this fan back in 2018 from Amazon. I work in industrial automation and we have access to a lot of different fans. Most fans are relatively the same, you just need to choose the best one for your application.
My fireplace was located in the fully underground and insulated basement. I didn't want to get the basement too hot so I only installed a single fan for my application, it flowed enough air to heat it quite nice.
You will most likely find the instructions in the bottom left of the fireplace. See here >> https://www.screencast.com/t/4KGmMlhOenJ
Just remove that panel and you should see them stashed in there.
That worked, thanks! I’m not sure why I didn’t think to check that. The unit is pretty old, though, so it looked like the replacement part (a small hood that jutted out for venting) was no longer available, but I did find an adjustable hood (link below) that worked with some finagling and bending out of the metal on the sides! Thanks for the support!

Probably the closest you’ll find in the US/Canada would be HomeRight Electro-Torch C900085 Fire Starter, Charcoal Starter and Lighter, BBQ Smoker, Grill Starter, Chemical Free Heated Air with Built-In Blower

Just set this behind my fireplace and had it boot up with some wifi plugs. Had a pretty realistic fireplace noise and plays for like 5 hrs I believe.
Well TIL Selkirk made fireplaces at some point.
That’s a SIT 820 Nova valve. They come in a few different variations but they’re very available and pretty much any SIT valve should work. I’m surprised a repair guy wouldn’t already have one on his truck. A quick Google will find you a bunch of them.
So I have this thing incoming: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08D7BL1SY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Kind of new to fireplaces, could you suggest a better replacement part?
You just want an open fire ash pan, like this - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Inglenook-Black-Ash-Pan-FIRE127/dp/B0071L0PME/ref=asc_df_B0071L0PME/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=266233417601&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=9880032356936421103&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&...
Not really going g ti help with heat loss though. Open fires lose more heat than they spit out. Far better off replacing it with a stove
If you know make/model look up refractory part number and try to source it. Hard to tell from the photo, but they're just surface and not full cracks, repair it with https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00917DM9O/ Otherwise replace it.

Moving forward, make regular inspections and as soon as you see hairline crack forming, patch it up. Will give you a life-time service.
I have a similar issue and until I can do something a bit more substantial, I opted to use this sleek surge protector to have a low-profile flat cable routed on the wall and the surge sit on the mantle.
This method would help remove the dangling cables and provide surge protection.

These are great but I also found masking tape to work too if it’s out of site
They sell this tv shelf that fits too ( I believe we got an 8 inch ) Mount-It! The brick should be re set with fireplace mortar.

The wood stove insert looks to be in rough shape and the chimney don't look right either, were they running it without a chimney liner? Maybe. If you want a wood burner I'd look at getting a new wood burning insert and chimney liner installed.
Gotcha. Something like this? https://www.amazon.com/HY-C-SC1313-Existing-Dimensions-Galvanized/dp/B002YGGRSW/
