It also took me awhile to find swim wear I'm comfortable in.
I recently bought this swim suit! It's not cleavage revealing so I feel more comfortable in it. (The cut also reminds me of Namaari's top from Raya the Last Dragon so that's a extra plus).
The challenging trail at Hawk mountain is fantastic! Definitely a fun rock scramble if that’s your thing and aren’t afraid of heights.
If you search All Trails there’s a loop called “Kelly’s Run Loop” (I think this is the link) that you can extend to the Pinnacle (a neat overlook of the Susquehanna river). The trail has a bit of everything: beautiful field, fun and somewhat challenging creek crossings depending on the weather, and some elevation. You do need to take a side trail further north to connect to the pinnacle though. Parking is better at the nature preserve for Kelly’s run than it is at the Pinnacle.
The Kelly’s run trail also connects to the Conestoga trail system, which from what I can tell has some very challenging elevation and rocks. I want to do this but not physically up for it yet.
I’m also interested in more recommended hikes in the area! I’ve just used All Trails so far and their rating system for difficulty is a bit hit or miss.
Its these men's pants I got on amazon. I needed a pair of warm pants to hike in in the winter, and much after trial and error I decided that none of the ladies options thrilled me. So I bought these recommended from a guy friend. I seriously love them. They're super protective, warm, and flattering. Today's hike was in 31° weather and I was warm as a fresh cinnamon bun.
In case your thinking of getting a pair, for reference, I'm 5'5" and 165lbs. Typically wear a size 12-14. Standing up, the W34 L29 fit me perfectly. Sitting down can be a bit tight, but only in the rump area and its completely manageable.
This is excellent. Thank you for the recommendations! If you're anywhere near Philly and elevation/scrambles are your main concern but you still want a long challenging hike, consider the Green Ribbon Trail in the Wissahickon. Its lanscape is very diverse, taking you through dense woods and along side manicured lawns, under and over highways, and throughout it all you can pick out historical remnants of the old industrial belt that the park replaced.
I use alltrails too but, as you know, its better painting a picture of what to expect than actually providing accurate stats. For instance, the Green Ribbon Trail was more like 13 miles than 12 when I completed it. I also highly recommend getting out to Mount Minsi and it's sister Mount Tammany. Its got beautiful vistas at over 1400ft that payoff after a tourist-manageable hike of only ~2-3 miles. Its challenging enough to keep your mind busy, but I've seen girls do it in flip flops and crop tops 😂 so if they can do it, anyone can. You can also choose to do a point-to point hike continuing on after you hit Minsi and, if you do, you get to see a good handful of other stunning vistas as you hike across the ridgeline.
Happy hiking!
