I got a net on Amazon for the top. Put it up with hooks and cable ties. Works pretty well. My hitting distance is 12 foot and this net comes out 10 feet....managed to hit over it twice unfortunately. Might look to extend it eventually or else move my hitting area closer.
Sides, I used full length cheap curtains which I put blackout lining behind to add weight..they have yet to be tested but i can't see them failing.
For the window insulation is this what you are talking about?
Similar experience. Started hitting foam balls in the yard and basement. I got a 15'x10' net on Amazon for around $40 and hung it in the basement. Got a used R10 and cast it to a 50" TV I had in the basement via an older iPad my daughter doesn't use. Hitting off gym mats with industrial carpet on top. Need to get a proper hitting mat, but this is very useable until I get an impact screen and monitor.
I attached this to my projector downrod...look up "pinspot light"

Here's a cheap laptop with a 3060 card and 16GB ram
This one is slightly better future proofed with a 3070 card
I have Windows 11 on my desktop that runs GSPro and I had two WiFi cards. I used WiFi 1 for the PC and WiFi 2 for the MEVO+. In my case, sometimes it worked, but it wasn't reliable and the MEVO+ would drop offline just as I hit "the perfect shot" =). I regularly had dropouts of one WiFi network or another. What I am doing now works well. I bought this device from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010S6SG3S?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details. It hooks up to my WiFi, then I run a Cat 5 LAN cable from the device to the wired internet connection on the PC. The MEVO+ gets hooked up to the WiFi and both the PC and the MEVO+ are happy. The PC thinks it's on a wired connection which frees up the WiFi. This method has worked for me and the TPLink device is relatively inexpensive. Some people have successfully used two WiFi networks, I just found it to be unreliable.
It all depends on your setup. I bought a 10x10 net on Amazon and have been hitting on it outside stretched between two poles for 3 years. In the winter I use it in the garage wall to wall in front of the garage door stretched with bungee cords. I have since bought a sim enclosure and still have that net behind the white screen I hit into for support.
Best Buy had a deal on this gaming laptop for black friday and cyber monday. Currently priced for $799, and I got it for $479.
It just arrived today so I haven't done anything setup wise, but if it runs 1080p then I'm psyched. I'm setting up my sim in the garage so I don't need 4k in my mind.
I also bought this inexpensive projector on amazon with a $25 coupon again, because I can get by with lower quality in my own mind.
All in, projector/laptop/garmin r10/impact screen I'm well under my limited budget I arbitrarily set at $1500. Time will tell if my "you get what you pay for" mantra will karma boomerang me with this setup.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MPWNHI8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
I have the 4k/4000 lumen version because my setup is outdoors. Bought it used from Amazon as well and it's working fine after a year.
This! I found one of these local on offer up for $15 bucks. Here's a link if you want to research, lots of diffrent brands and sizes.
Not sure if it will work with the Rhamsodo, but I got a little Peltier cooler with a fan for my iPhone when I was using my R10.
I use the Mevo+ for a similar setup. I have this net: https://www.amazon.com/Cimarron-Sports-Training-10x10x10-Masters/dp/B00AU31HDG along with the impact screen. I just leave it up and let it weather the elements. I'm in CA so at most we get is some rain, but it's held up fine.
I ended up doubling up the curtains since they felt a little thinner than I wanted, so there's 4 total pictured. LINK
Moving blanket shredded really fast for me.
What I learned with some of the nicer nets - they put a fabric sheet in first and it protects the net from getting shredded by ball spin.
This one has worked pretty well for me
You can get a California King 1.5" memory foam mattress topper for like $60 on Amazon, then cut the pieces that you need. I bought the inserts from Carl's Place with my enclosure, but the mattress topper would have probably worked just as well for a lot less. California King is larger than regular king and it is now actually cheaper. Carl's pieces are cut like triangles and they "sit" between the tarp and the EMT/Frame...they are not attached to anything. This solves the problem with the bungees also needing contact with the frame.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07993G5JB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
Yep, works like a charm. I did the same thing. I use these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005OTYXDM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1
But after a while the foam inserts in the top row start to crumble. So I'm going to replace them with sprinkler system drip lines with a slice in the center to "snap" the shafts into.
You guys are crazy with the 220v heater, ha. Natural gas is cheaper and heats up quicker in my experience, it can be a tougher install though.
I run a vent free natural gas in my garage (440square foot) and it does awesome and I barely even notice an increase in my consumers energy bill: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GWH1HHZ?ref_=cm_sw_r_apin_dp_P1EFYXWKK44TA0P8FR7E
As others have stated... it's pointless without insulation though!
Turf is still out for review... I'm not sure of the quality of it yet. Someone posted it on Golf Simulator Forum at some point...

I'm honestly not 100% confident it is going to hold up. Only time will tell. It was a bitch to glue down. I ended up having to use contact cement instead of super 77 spray glue.
Hockey netting, the item I bought is gone but this seems like the same thing: https://www.amazon.com/Netting-Replacement-Barrier-Multi-Sport-LaCrosse/dp/B07DR87LPP/ref=sr_1_18?crid=1749E11RZH5WG&keywords=Hockey+netting&qid=1667358466&qu=eyJxc2MiOiI1LjIxIiwicXNhIjoiNC43MSIsInFzcCI6IjQuMTYifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=hoc...
I do want to frame it so it's tight and not drooping all over, but Ive been lazy.
These are ceiling rails

Yes, thanks. Decided on that. This one right?
I don't have a BLP but my Skytrak stays off the hitting mat for this reason. Can you move closer to the edge of your mat and have the launch monitor sit off the mat? It's pretty easy to find a foam tile or raise the surface I'm sure. As for the mat moving, if it's on concrete that's finished or polished? Is this a situation where you move the mat into the Sim area to hit then put it away?
Here's a 3x5 solution on sale for 11 bucks over half off. Good luck!
I went with this one. I saw several posts with it and fit the price point and look I wanted. For my Skytrak it really seemed to helped miss reads with drives and putting. Easy install, took all of 5 minutes with a ladder. I took about 10 minutes to decide on position and facemement so I wasn't getting the light path in my eyes every time I went over to my laptop. Something I wanted to share with anyone doing design plans. My ceilings are 9ft and it's several feet out of any swing path. Good luck.
side note my kiddos also use the space to watch moves or play while supervised and the multi color function lets them spice up dance parties
Not sure if this would work for your setup but I bought this and I mounted it on the side of a ceiling joist (it's in my unfinished basement so the main floor joists are open). The fixture is at a VERY slight angle because it can't point perfectly straight down because the bulb makes contact with the joist, but you would never know. I like it because the light is essentially hidden.
I bought this a couple weeks ago which I saw was a recommendation from the guy over at Gung-Ho Golf. I like it because there is a soft edge around the spotlight circle. At about 10 feet off the ground it creates about a 5 foot diameter circle.
Old ass wireless keyboard+trackpad I had laying around from my old HTPC setup. It was cheap and worked great. I actually still use it on the all-in-one pc in the garage when I have my buddies over and am sitting my recliner so I don't have to walk over to the computer.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005DKZTMG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Nope, my buddy and I did it. My furnace and water heater are in the basement against the wall that butts up with the garage. We put a t in the pipe going to the hot water heater and used a flexible natural gas line to run to it. Luckily my buddy owns a plumbing company and gave us all the parts to do it. This is the style line we used: https://www.menards.com/main/plumbing/pipe-fittings/flexible-gas-pipe-fittings-accessories/pro-flex-trade-flak-jacket-csst-tubing/pfarct-0125/p-1507530493827-c-9529.htm?tid=-6764290620905794737&ipos=21
One thing I would recommend... the built in blower fan sucks and does not distribute the heat well. I mounted this oscillating fan above the heater and it does a great job keeping the whole garage warm... plus it's nice in the summer to turn on when we're hanging out in the garage.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HXQUUHM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I kicked around the idea of putting a mini-split out there so I have AC in the summer... but cost and effort weren't worth it (I'd have to run a a 220 line to the garage $$$ and would probably have to run it all winter to keep warm). So next summer I'm just gonna throw a cheap AC unit in the window... I've got two 20amp circuits out there so that should be fine.
Saw this on another post here it is happy with it easy to set up. It was $30, and and took 3 minutes to install after I picked the area I had set up for my hitting/launch monitor.
Gorilla Grip Rug Pad for Carpet... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HDL5B5C?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I've tried several items, and this works perfectly if you set it and don't move the top mat much, otherwise it starts to unstick (fibers and pueces of turf start to get stuck to it). I used it perfectly for months and then I rearranged things multiple times and it stopped working after that, bought a new one and it's been going fantastic again.
I guess they may not work on a pad but I used trampoline stakes to hold mine down. Also protected area with trees and a building next to it.
For a screen, I picked up one of these and outside of having creases from being folded has been fantastic through a few thousand balls. Gotta add your own additional gromets but that isn't hard or expensive with a kit from many places. Smallest size is still over 8' but you could measure and add your gromets inside to the size you need. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B09K3ZFZSQ/
I was having the same problem - losing charge while plugged in. I was using a light duty extension cord(16 gauge) with the oem charger. I contacted FS and they recommended trying a different charger. It's 6' long so it eliminated the need for an extension cord. I haven't had an issue since, although I'm still not sure if the issue was with the oem charger or extension cord. Someone also recommended using a heavy duty extension cord but I the new charger was the cheaper option.
Had to deal with a hurricane, here is that I used.
I have a retractable screen so I got some tarp clips and used different length bungee cords from Lowes. Links below for the before and after and how to get the clips, Good luck just took some fiddling to figure out where to add tention.

I bought this one (twice). A bad golf shot and no protection ended the first one but I liked it so much I bought absecond one: Optoma GT1080HDR Short Throw... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W62S2SJ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Is there a specific firestick needed for this? This firestick amazon page seems to suggest that the micro USB is "for power only".
Just another thought on your setup.
I got a cheap projector on amazon like this one for my cheap home setup.
It works very well with my ipad or phone to use with the r10.
For the level of resolution the garmin or e6 app have you dont need much more.
Would work well for a budget build i think.
Since you already have a projector, a cheap option for a little more immersive sim experience is to get a 10x10 golf net with a photo backdrop(link) in front of it and hang them from the ceiling. That's what I used when I first started and was surprised how durable it was.
Fiberbuilt grass series mat 7x4.
The landing area is 1” rubber gym floor mats covered by fake turf from Home Depot. Links below.
Unpopular opinion: These generic amazon mats are the best you can get, not just for the money either. They don't hold up great but I love hitting off mine still.

If I had to do it over again I'd buy one of these and cut it into hitting strips.
Dumb question but can the pvc go through it? I have a pocket on my screen but my problem was that when i went to roll it up it just slid around.. Regardless, I used these and they worked great and allowed me to roll the screen up without it slipping about

same here...I've got GoSport Rubber Tee, but they feel much bigger than a wooden tee.
Helped me on my plank vinyl floor a ton. Locked in place. I am sure it would do as well on carpet.
I bought this adjustable mount: link. My garage is only 9’ 6” tall, so this drops below the Net Return top valance but above my impact screen.
This is what I bought. https://www.amazon.com/100PD-Commercial-Pocket-Sliding-Hardware/dp/B000BD6B7W
Not too many lefty sessions but it takes 4 seconds (just slide it with a club in the air to the other screw on the left) and then back after that person hits. Nothing else to do.
I do leave the stickers on when I play. It has to be a bad mishit to hit the stickers as they're way off center. But it happens and they've been a little scratched but not enough that I've had to replace them yet.
try a wifi extender. i used this one for my detached garage and it works well. if it doesn't work, return it for refund to Amazon

If he added string to it and a tie down method then I would think it's ok.
Personally I prefer the lightest material possible and that's this.
I just got this one yesterday. Cheap and fits the iPad Pro just fine. If is was trying to keep my iPad up in a hurricane I’d pick something with wider legs, but other than that I can’t complain for the price.
I got this net on Amazon and hung it from a couple hooks in the ceiling. I did a lot of work on my wedges when I first got the Skytrak and tore a hole in the net after a couple months. I reached out to the guys that make the net about the hole and the owner got back to me, apologized up and down and sent me a free replacement. He was super nice and I love the net, so I highly recommend to anyone who's looking for one.
I bought this one off Amazon. I got a MEVO+, but this works great to hold my Ipad and my projector. It is on wheels so very easy to move out of the way in my garage to make room for my car.
I did it myself. The new machine was this one for $430. I ran a new outlet from the outlet that was used for the original door. I just used cable staples to staple the cable to the ceiling. I glued my gym floor mats over it. Works great.
I installed the new opener myself. I'm not super handy but had a friend help. I called a mom & pop company who said they would install it for $200 if I ran the power and bough the unit beforehand.
I used acoustic foam tiles for the walls and ceilings: 50 Pack Acoustic Panels... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VDTR22R?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
And for the transitions to the screen I used: JBER Column Acoustic Wedge Studio... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08QVG8NZD?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
We originally glued them all but the acoustic tile glue didn’t really hold, so we ended up stapling them into place. The staples are invisible unless you are looking for them. It sounds weird but it looks great and everything stays in place.

I finally succeed on wiring the photoelectric switch to disable the garage door while the impact screen is lowered.
I just need this photoelectric switch which has a NO(Normally Opened) and NC(Normally Closed) circuit. (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073WV169V?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details)
There are 5 signal lines on it.
On the video, bottom white cable is coming from 110V output and I wired the contact output to the new 110V outlet on the top of the video.
The Garage door opener plug will be plugged on the top output.
If the screen lowered and the sensor detects it, the power will be blocked to the upper outlet and the garage door will not work.

I went with the Uneekor EYE XO for the launch monitor and love it. I didn't have enough room for a radar based system and wanted easy lefty \ righty play since I'm LH and my wife and most of my buddies are RH. Plus the accuracy and data points from the EYE XO are incredible. (I'm surprised how much I refer to the high speed camera footage of the club through impact.)
All that said I am a lower handicap golf addict whos' played for over 30 years and always dreamed of having a sim in my house which probably inflated my budget quite a bit! LOL
Thank you for that, appreciate it, gives me a lot to think about here moving forward. Need to start with finishing the side mount garage opener and a heater in the garage (insulated but not heated yet). Great idea for the side mounts, were those motorized to or do you manually roll them up (I assume it's something like this https://www.amazon.ca/Photography-Background-Non-Woven-Television-MOUNTDOG-Black/dp/B07G2T252V/?th=1)
What did you end up choosing for your launch monitor? I really want the Uneekor but obviously a big investment. I dont know if Skytrak is the way to go or if something like the Mevo or Garmin R10 would work well enough in the garage. The goal is obviously to improve but for now just need to swing and play more then worry about some other dynamics.
I tried a lot of things. These are my absolute favorite. 2” For simulator, 2.5” - 3” for actual course. I have been using 1 on the course now for 6 rounds of golf. I’ve hit hundreds of driver on my sim and never broke one. 24 for $18 or so.

I personally use Kinovea as the swing analysis software. It's free and works fantastic for my needs. The recent updates add automatic swing capture recording based off of the ball impact as well as file storage/management. Additionally, I have recently ordered https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DWXRKNL?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details to try out as I have read good things, so will be setting this up very soon. I currently only have a camera setup behind me (down the line), however I am looking to add a second face on for the side analysis as well. If this camera works out I will likely grab another.

Apple TV would work best but it depends on having good wifi (access point in same room) or Ethernet. I would just run a long hdmi cable or use an Ethernet to hdmi converter. I installed some tvs in an outdoor patio area for a restaurant and these worked great over about 20-25ft. I used cat5e, cat6 would work further but more expensive.

Here is a link to a rail system that would cover up to 6ft. Bolt the rails to the ground, make a mounting plate that bolts to the bearings, and mount your monitor to the mounting plate. Then you will need a hard stop at each location for righty and lefty, and also a shaft locking mechanism to lock it into position.

I bought 3/4" foam tiles from Amazon. My putting mat and my turf line up exactly and the feel is great. It is about the most cost effective way to go. This is from Amazon Canada but I'm sure you can find something similar if you're US. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B074DSQF13/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Here's some pics.. Definitely not as fancy as some of the ones around here! https://imgur.com/a/Q3wTYRL
This is the ceiling net, the ugly colored square is separate, so I was able to leave it off thankfully - Club Champ Golf Practice Net https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002M0VQY/
The net works pretty well to control sky balls. It still contacts the wood above and makes a loud sound on many of the shots, but they either get hung up in the net, or fall straight down. The net drops lower now than shown in the pics, but it actually works better that way to slow down the ball.
I haven’t seen many big ones- I know the Galileo net has onelike this
I’ve had the Dura-Pro Perfect Reaction 5x5 for a little over a month and am very happy with it so far. Haven’t hit on any of the more premium mats (fiberbuilt, CCE, etc.), but it’s definitely nicer than any range May I’ve ever hit off of with better feedback.

This is a super low end projector that I got with the intention of someday upgrading. Honestly in a dark room the image is pretty good and I am projecting onto a photography backdrop sheet not any special screen.
The key feature for me was the horizontal and vertical keystone.
Be aware that this projector has a pretty long throw to get a good sized image. I had plenty of room in my garage to mount it back far enough but its something to be aware of.
As for a mount I am using two 2x4 scrap pieces and a an extra piece of plywood I had laying around.
If you have a bigger budget I am sure other projectors offer both keystone adjustments.
I actually found it elsewhere on this subreddit, it's this one...

works pretty well.
Country club elite mat from Costco hurts my elbow so bad on the first day and I returned it immediately. I bought "FORB Driving Range Golf Practice Mat" after trying in my kids' instructor's class and I like it a lot.

I love this! Thank you for posting. I've been a die-hard Optishot user for almost a decade and I want to build this project.
I'm hoping that you don't mind a few questions?
Did you simply buy the pi arcade kit and plug that into your computer? Or did you also need to purchase the pi (and if so, how did you interface that with your computer)?
I'm looking at this kit, but I'm unsure if your project also requires the pi?
Note: I'm in Canada, hence Amazon dot CA
Thanks again for posting this, and I look forward to hearing back from you.

Not trying to be a smartass or know it all, I learned this a few years back. You can delete everything after the "ref=" in an Amazon link. Just trying to help, the quoted part is all you need to post so it's not a wall of text.
Mine isn’t built yet but I ordered this

Caden camera bag I bought off Amazon. I’d highly recommend it!

Looking good! I also followed the gung-ho EMT plans and it worked out great. I ended up replacing the eyebolts with set screws and my foam insulation fits perfectly.
Also, the R10 hates bare concrete floors. I put grizzly grass on my entire 3-car garage and it vastly improved readings. But my long clubs are still short. SW-6 are pretty accurate but 5-D are 10-30 yards short getting progressively short. I ordered a Skytrak so I’m hoping game play improves.
Having a golf sim is so freakin awesome I think you’re going to have a great time!

There are 2 in a package, one for each end so you only need to order 1 package.
Does anyone know if it's possible to connect the USB cable going out of the controller to a Bluetooth dongle (then pair it with Windows) so it's wireless?
I would love this controller on the floor, but running the USB cable to the PC would be very difficult if not impossible (I'd have to tape the USB cable down to the floor so nobody trips over it.
Thinking I might try an 8bitdo controller on Amazon that fits in my pocket: https://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Gamepad-Turquoise-Nintendo-Raspberry/dp/B083GJQPZ4/ref=

How cool would it be to have that behind your hitting zone to line up your shot as you would normally!
P.S. I love the skin and simple button icons!
