I second the special detergent. For pieces that are entirely black, you can always refresh them now and then with fabric dye. I also like using dye because it helps make more of my clothes similar/the same shade of black.

I've thought of doing the same thing and wondered if anyone else was, lol. There's so many interesting, gothic earrings and few plugs or gauges. Currently, I have hematite plugs, which I like but also recently looking for ways to mix it up. The plugs have gotten a lot of compliments and I've not seen them in anyone else's ears.

Straw or fabric (wide brim) hats for hot weather rather than traditional wool. Quite a bit of heat escapes from the top of the head.
Looser linen clothes - especially if you sweat, it's going to rain, or it's so humid the air is soup. Linen wrinkles like crazy but dries so fast and keeps you cool.
Parasols!!! Best way to keep cool is bright portable shade with you. Bonus tip: add a clip on fan to have your own breeze! (amazon link)
Lots of water, plus the occasional electrolyte drink. Frequent stops anywhere that has a/c. Frozen treats & drinks. Or, if you're brave, hot tea. The wisdom shared with me was drinking something hot makes everything around you seem cooler.

Try looking up pictures of goth icons, especially Daniel Ash and Jonny Slut who popularised the deathhawk. Nik Fiend might be good inspiration if you like that unconventional look. You could probably work in some flared eyebrows, maybe some solid blocks of eyeliner.
I definitely recommend looking into Some Wear Leather, Some Wear Lace: A Worldwide Compendium of Postpunk and Goth in the 1980s because there's so many styles you can use and try out, that were used by the original goths and post-punk fans back in the 80s.

GS115 is also a great brand for kids pants that are probably something your kid would like, they have sorts too that look similar to Tripp. It is my go to brand for then my kid wants some cooler looking pants and they are pretty cheap.
