If they were going to go all Americaneese, they should have fixed the Spellotape and SPEW references to be more American as well.
Best edition, IMO.
I read a book called "Conversations with J.K. Rowling" back in the day that may be the book you're talking about. It's on amazon. Good luck on your search! https://www.amazon.com/Conversations-J-Rowling-Lindsey-Fraser/dp/0439314550
No, the ones in Amazon are original word for word. So there’s the American version and the UK version, maybe they were referring to that. The UK version is different from the American version. Some words are different, due to expressions, the British ones have more typical British expressions like cookies vs. biscuits and they also have different grammar, like more commas, punctuation, etc. Also the in the UK the first book is : “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” and in America it’s: “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”. To be honest I don’t think the change was warranted but oh well.
But yeah you can buy the original word for word American version of the books on Amazon. Here’s a link:
https://www.amazon.com/The-Harry-Potter-years-1-7/dp/B01GFJ19J0/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?keywords=harry+potter+book+set&qid=1669579424&sr=8-5 ( this is the traditional cover art, they are hardcover and come in cool trunk to store them in)
There’s also other editions with different cover art. They all have the same words it’s just the cover art that varies.
You could also chose to buy the UK version on the Bloomsbury website although that can be expensive because of shipping: https://www.bloomsbury.com/uk/harry-potter-box-set-the-complete-collection-childrens-hardback-9781408856789/ (these are also hardback)
The sad thing is they are not the original UK cover art do the books. The original cover art has been discontinued but you could them on eBay but they sometimes retail for higher than the newer edition books, as they are coveted.
There is also an illustrated edition of the books that si really beautiful you can also find it on Amazon or the Bloomsbury website.
Yeah, I second the Pottermore notes. They're a lot of fun and especially good for backstory on some of my favorite characters.
You can find them on Amazon too, here's one example - https://www.amazon.com/Hogwarts-Hardship-Dangerous-Pottermore-Presents-ebook/dp/B01JLXETNK/ref=sr\_1\_1?crid=1KYL3870UEPU6&keywords=pottermore&qid=1663022132&sprefix=pottermore%2Caps%2C127&sr=8-1
The book although costco currently has the whole set for sale

That's the one I have - And I noticed none of the issues. I'd recommend it without second thought. I love the art on them and while the box is fine, I don't keep the books in there.
Congrats on your all books.
I am a big fan fan of harry potter. i have seen all parts of harry potter movies.
I am a writer. I created an action/adventure novel. My book is titled "Steve's Legend".
Read It here "Steve's Legend" is an excellent option for kids.
For OP and anyone else still looking, I'm not sure how audiobooks are with licensing but where I live https://www.storytel.com/ has the Stephen Fry audiobooks. It's a monthly subscription based service with unlimited access to the audiobooks when subscribed.
There’s two versions, one by Jim Kay and the other by MinaLima.
The Jim Kay ones are up to GoF - https://www.amazon.com/dp/133831291X/
MinaLima published the first book last year, CoS coming out some time this year - https://www.amazon.com/dp/1338596705/
Both look amazing but the art styles are completely different. The Jim Kay books are larger in size (like a coffee table book) while the MinaLima book is a regular book size. Jim Kay’s art is a bit darker while MinaLima is brighter. And MinaLima has interactive illustrations which are pretty cool.
The illustrated editions are still being slowly released. They are really lovely. Here's a box set of the first 3.
Goblet is also out but not in the set for some reason (looks like it's out of stock on Amazon right now, though) and Order is scheduled to be released some time this year.
Are you by any chance a student? If so, you may have access to library databases and academic journals. There are a good amount of academic papers on Harry Potter but a lot of them are behind a paywall, but as I said, students often get access.
That said: this book has a bunch of different papers compiled: The Ultimate Harry Potter and Philosophy: Hogwarts for Muggles.
