I’ll second this. We use a HDMI over CAT5 adapter for this exact purpose. It allows the NVR to stay on the rack in the server room and the “view” to be accessible on a 60” TV across the building (guessing a 125ft run) to keep an eye on the feed. I’ve had reliable performance out of this adapter that won’t break the bank. I believe they have a 4K version now too but don’t think the NVR is outputting 4K so is irrelevant anyways for us at least.

You can use PureVPN for this purpose as they offer both Dedicated IP and Port forwarding to unblock ports behind CGNAT. This is the right time to purchase VPN, as PureVPN is offering huge discount 88% off on 5-year plan $1.33/month here is the link
You could achieve this with a dedicated IP VPN that allows port forwarding. I use PureVPN for this myself as they offer both - and no I’m not affiliated with them before anyone asks. UK installer covering circa 80 commercial premises.
I would not recommend updating the firmware. Log into the NVR and check the error log for any recent errors. Most likely, the hard drive is failing and just needs to be replaced. Make a note of the cable positions (keep these the same if possible), then unplug and open the case. There may be one or two drives inside the case, each of which is connected by two cables. Remove any screws holding the drive in place. Remove the existing drive, and replace it with a new one:

I use primarily Hikvision cameras with SSS.
I have all of my IoT devices, including cameras, in a VLAN that is blocked from internet access. The Hikvision cameras do phone somewhere. It's been a while since I looked at them.
With that said, I would recommend the Reolink bullets. A two pack is cheaper than a single Hikvision bullet. I have two running now that replaced dead Hikvisions and I'm impressed. I bought the 410 model, but it appears they've been replaced by the 510. SSS identifies them properly and they work great. Again, I'm not sure if these guys phone home as I never checked. They're on my IoT VLAN with no internet access.

Wait! i bought this and replaced the stock fan - its so much quieter!! its lietrally a 10 minute job, so easy to replace.
Brilliant!! Thanks again for the help! :) I don't right now actually because I'm abroad! But I'll be home on Thursday and I can have a look! https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/6042297988/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_ZS6GPDWB9F8VXJX8KFGY
This is the one I have already actually!
Ok cool! Oh that would be much appreciated! This seems to be the equivalent of what I had!
No need for recording capabilities! I'm wondering if it is worth replacing the generic grey dome cameras that I had too.
Yes I'm looking forward to it. I have a couple of the Hikvision screens that go with it as well and will be mounting them in various places.
The one i found seems nearly identical: https://www.amazon.co.uk/KIMILAR-Adjustable-Doorbell-Replacement-Adjustment/dp/B078RGHKJQ/ref=sr_1_10?keywords=ring+doorbell+angle+mount&qid=1639946627&sprefix=ring+doorbell+angle+mount%23%2Caps%2C64&sr=8-10
Might give it a go
The bracket you listed should work. I did a quick search and found that the bracket size is 2.6" x 6.12" and the KV-6113 is 2.55" x 5.4. Assuming we are looking at the same bracket, here is a link to the one I found. Good choice on the KV-6113, I have 2 installed at my house and they are rock solid, I even use the access control (fob reader) Function on mine. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076KRKV8Y/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_navT_g_67958HX5M0N99JF248KC
I would sideload Tinycam Pro on a Fire TV stick and turn on the "Auto start live view on boot" feature.

If your adding a camera to the Hik-Connect app it shouldn't matter if you're not on your home network if the camera has already been set up. But if it's hasn't you first need to be on the same network as the IP camera then find the IP camera's ip address (you can use "Fing app" to scan your network or download hikvisions SAPD tool on a computer) and then open up a web browser and type in the cameras IP and activate the camera first. Once the camera is activated you have to tick the box that says enable hik-connect then it asks you to set a verification code.
