Right now I would just start taking a daily prenatal (with folate) and CQ10 for egg quality. Do you best to get a lot of sleep, eat well, and drink a lot of water-- normal health guidelines. There's a great book out there called It Starts with the Egg that has a lot of tips and suggestions on how to get the best results, but here's a fair warning that it may just turn you into a paranoid fool about everything you touch (and eat out of plastic for instance).
Since you've already done some cycles with Gonal-F you're already pretty used to one of the medications itself, so really just start getting in the mindset that you'll be doing 2-5 injections a day (depending on your protocol) and you may be uncomfortable, but the process goes by pretty quick (less than two weeks).
Overall just lean on your partner and put your mental health above all in this journey. If you need to pull back from some relationships for your sanity, do it.
Best of luck to you!

We did PGT-A and PGT-M (for Zellweger’s) and seeing the report was sad but also relieving to see how much tragedy it helped us avoid. I already had two chemical pregnancies before starting IVF.
Our first round, we sent 4 embryos for testing and 0 were normal. Second round we sent 6 embryos for testing and 2 were normal. Theoretically, had we not tested, 8 out of 10 of these pregnancies would have guaranteed ended in heartbreak with more chemicals/miscarriages or a mid-term termination (or child that dies within 1 year of birth).
34 at time of egg retrieval for reference with no significant fertility issues. Currently 5+6 from the first FET. I credit our success primarily to acupuncture which I did twice a week during FET prep (also during stim but you’re past that). I also took some supplements the acupuncturist recommended (linked below), and took bromelain supplements (what’s in pineapple) for 5 days beginning the day of transfer.

I’m in IVF cycle one, so I am definitely not the best person to give anyone advice. What I can share is a few of my goods and bads.
The first thing I wish I’d been aware of was being more in communication with my nurse. She always seems incredibly busy, and in my opinion drops the ball. The main example on this, is I wasn’t given (and didn’t ask) for a medication list. I ordered the meds she sent into the pharmacy. I really wish I had gotten an exact list from her, because for whatever reason she ordered items I don’t need. I am so fortunate to have coverage for meds, if I didn’t I would be more vocal about spending money I didn’t need to spend. If I have to do another cycle, I will get a list before I order my scripts. I read a lot of posts here in this sub. People are so knowledgeable and it helps a lot. After seeing it suggested on this sub, I bought an organizer for the room temp meds. I refill it as needed. It helps in the moment to not have to dig for things. I got it on Amazon: Sunxenze 12'' Three-Layer Clear... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08337751W?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share It has been pretty helpful. The last thing is I really wish I’d had the option to take time off for the week around egg retrieval. Mine will be sometime this week. I am really uncomfortable and the thought of performing my physical job this week is quite daunting.
This is absolutely a marathon. It’s stressful, taxing on the body, expensive, and exhausting. Having partner support is key.
Wishing you the best of luck!
You're using a heating pad, right? One thing that I've found that really helps is using one of those shiatsu massagers. I just kind of angle my butt/hip over it and let it go to town to work out the lumps. It helps so much.

My clinic recommended TheraNatal Core Preconception Vitamin by Theralogix. I also did CoQ10, specifically the one by Sports Research on Amazon. CoQ10 by Sports Research In my case it improved my egg quality from my first retrieval to my second. Your clinic can tell you the recommended dosage.
Hi. So sorry you are going through this. Yes - you can thaw and rest your remaining embryos. Definitely consider the following - ERA - Emma / Alice - ReceptivaDX (BCL6)
At your age in theory, more than 70% of your embryos should be euploid… but the only way to tell is by testing them…
Then there is other bloodwork which can be done. I recommend reading this book: Is Your Body Baby Friendly?: How "Unexplained" Infertility, Miscarriage and IVF Failure Can Be Explained https://www.amazon.com/dp/0978507851/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_4MO9Eb1E24Q4M

Sure thing! Link..
I use this to do my shots, love it! No need to really prep or take time with it, just push it down, pop the needle in and use the PIO, I also use it for my lupron depot shot.
Yay! The cheap theragun is so helpful too!!
Also to help desensitize for the PIO shot area I use this little buzzy friend. I did the shots myself and this little friend helped me get through them.

Have you thought about the Fair Play deck? Some men need a visual aid to see the imbalance of domestic duties. It's a deck of cards which each represent the domestic tasks from managing your friendships to doing dishes. You take out ones that don't apply to you and can make a few if you're missing anything (like managing fertility benefits or tracking down cheaper medicines). Then you together distribute the cards to whoever does that task the most. At the end you can see if your silent tasks equal your partners silent tasks and redistribute tasks so it's more equal.
There's a book by the same name that goes along with it but isn't necessary.

I just did my first injections tonight (based in Chicago) for IVF but have done IUI with an ovidrel trigger before. Different protocol but what helped with the injection the most was the “shot blocker” that my pharmacy gave me with my medicine. I absolutely did not feel a thing with any injections (ovidrel previously, and today gonal-f and menopur).
It’s a little piece of plastic with pokey bits that distract you from the sensation of the needle— too much info for your brain to tell what’s what. You can get them on Amazon in big packs, but I wouldn’t say they’re worth the price. Ask your pharmacy, maybe, to see if they have any available. https://www.amazon.com/Bionix-ShotBlocker-Pain-Free-Immunizations-Injections/dp/B08VS34SQ5
I will say, the Ovidrel (or maybe the combo of that and progesterone) made me pretty unhinged emotionally for like three days. Everything made me cry and I’m usually pretty stable. I have PCOS and it also made my ovaries very very palpable and sore, I couldn’t even wear my baggiest jeans without it feeling like they were pinching me. Invest in some soft pants!
Good luck!
I love this book for so many reasons. It explains the process so well, and is inclusive of all genders, families, and pregnancy/birth methods.

The app Noom was the first and only thing that has ever helped me with emotional eating. It's an educational weight loss app based on science and really taking into account the psychological hurdles, not just telling you "do this, do that". It's kind of cognitive behavioral therapy in an app. I don't mean to sound like an app, but the money is really worth it. I reached my goal weight almost effortlessly after years of trying. Good luck!

Was a great short read for me. I saw it recommended several times on one of these subs.
4AA is pretty perfect (grading wise).
Have you done an RPL / Autoimmune Panel yet?
do you have any uterine polyps, fibroids, cysts or other internal growth that could hinder implantation and growth of any embryo?
do they also put you on E2 for FET?
did they check your TSH levels btwn 4-6 weeks when it can spike due to pregnancy?
I read this book and it helped me pinpoint what was going on in my body.

I'm reading this book right now (terrible title). I had 4 miscarriages, IVF has been unsuccessful so far, so I've been continuing to look for answers.
The doctor that wrote it looks at the role of possibly hidden immune issues preventing successful pregnancies, and it seems to have a lot of promise.

thank you so much for the encouragement.
here is the light i used.. it’s a bit awkward because it’s like an actually light. lol
but I needed something fast and it was the only 830nm I could find for quick delivery to Canada
anyways, it seemed to have helped me so no complaints.
and honestly, i bought another 850nm therapy belt device and I preferred my clunky 830 device better.

I had my 12th PIO shot last night. Unfortunately, it does get worse because you're injecting in a very small area.
I asked my nurse if it's possible to inject in the arm (like a flu shot) and she said no because that muscle is too small. She said it's possible to do it in the thigh but walking will be painful. I've also heard horror stories from women who did do it in their thigh and they said it hurt so much!! I did also ask her to draw circles on me before starting PIO and today she said I can go 1 inch further away from the border of that circle so that makes the area to inject a little bigger.
I do 20 squats after the injection and before the massager. I heard that can help spread the oil too.
I don't have a theragun but have the heated massager like this and it is painful to massage the area after the injection but I try to endure as much as I can. I wish I had better news and I am also in a lot of pain. I also can't imagine doing this for weeks but I keep telling myself it will be worth it.
My beta is on Wed so don't know yet if it worked. My nurse did say that if I get a positive beta and can't endure the PIO shots, we can talk about doing suppositories only.
No I did that by reading Is Your Body Baby Friendly?: How "Unexplained" Infertility, Miscarriage and IVF Failure Can Be Explained https://www.amazon.com/dp/0978507851/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_4MO9Eb1E24Q4M
And my OB ordered all tests for me
I've been taking this one. Just found it on Amazon
It is a little spiky disc thing that you press into the skin around where the needle is going to go in. All of the little spikes trick your brain and make it nearly impossible to discern when/where the needle went in.
I struggled to justify the price initially ($15 for a tiny piece of plastic) but this has been a huge life saver throughout my many weeks of PIO. Definitely worth exploring!
It’s sucks and it’s the worst and I’m sorry you’re going thru this. Get this book. It explains all the tests. Ask your OB or PCP or any dr you know To write these lab orders!

I recently decided I wanted a way to memorialize our failed transfers, and have purchased a small jewel box like these for our three failed transfers. I may eventually put inside them some words about how I felt for each transfer and maybe a name I had picked out. It hurts sometimes to see them and sometimes it is a comfort to have a treasure that represents something so precious to me.
Yes this book is the Bible of RI. It explains everything and each test - written by Dr Alan Beer of Beer center http://www.repro-med.net/ waitlist is about 2-3 months (it’s all tele appointments) But you can ask your OB, PCP for lab orders to run the tests or order them yourself using Ultalabtests.com but you’ll need an RI to help with protocol if any of the results come back abnormal! I hope this helps you pinpoint the issue and find answers!

Yw! I actually ended up doing a fresh transfer but had originally planned on freezing and doing PGT testing. I know you’re not trying to get pregnant now so your plan will be different. Like someone else mentioned, freezing embryos has good success (in terms of maintaining integrity after defrosting), especially when compared to freezing eggs.
I got this DHEA (DHEA 100mg | 200 Capsules |... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07N7QGYQ7?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) but please know I can’t say this is a great one just discovered it through my own somewhat brief research. I think it helped though and also the fiber and vitamin d. Apparently basically everyone has low vitamin d. Oh, and I was taking a prenatal as well.
Good luck on your journey!! I thought it was interesting you said your mom got pregnant at 38. My mom had me when she was 38.
Yes so buy and read this book! It explained everything to me.

I haven’t used an auto injector before, but they do have injection training cushions on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Intramuscular-Injection-Simulator-Education-Educational/dp/B07W5KSKRQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_8_sspa?crid=3GIA85G4VOPJL&keywords=intramuscular+injection+training+cushion&qid=1652830896&sprefix=intramuscular+injec%2Caps%2C10...
…also, just thinking outside the box…I watched a YouTube video demonstrating a breast biopsy once, and they used a half a boneless ham for the demonstration…that may work for practice injecting.
I would recommend these salty lemon sweets that I ordered for after my egg retrieval: https://www.amazon.com/Himalaya-Candy-Lemon-Flavour-628MART/dp/B07G4WNS22/ref=sr_1_1?crid=ETMX02C2D5CN&keywords=salt%2Blemon%2Bsweet&qid=1652317650&sprefix=salt%2Blemon%2Bswee%2Caps%2C317&sr=8-1&th=1
They're salty, sour, and minty at the same time and are marketed for "sports". Tastes really good too. I found that sucking on them periodically was very refreshing and was much more preferable than chugging Gatorade.
I would say don’t fret over tiny things. I was in a constant paranoia during my first stims and freaking out at every little detail (ex. Omg I pushed out more than a drop from the syringe before injecting!!!!). I am in day 4 of my 2nd round and cannot be more relaxed about it lol
This is a matter of preference but I have my husband do it and I read out each step along the way and crosscheck with him.
Also I use an underpad to just keep the prep area sterile and to make the clean up easier (I just fold everything in to the pad and toss).
Best of luck!!
Wow, I'm so deeply sorry you're dealing with all this. This resonated with me, as I myself was in his position, and my wife in yours, she's a fellow Endo warrior. Even though I was able to come around, I still regret putting my wife through that.
What helped me was reading about others in similar IVF journeys. One that I recall vividly is Get A Life: His & Hers Survival Guide to IVF. This one has some funny moments.

I ordered these two books off Amazon Mediterranean cookbook for two IVF meal plan
I’m picking and choosing recipes from each. The IVF meal plan has an actual weekly plan you can follow but that’s a bit more prescriptive than I like so I’m using recipes but just in my own order and timeline. I did find that book informative
I think generally you want to think lots of fish, vegetables, and high fat dairy. Tonight, we’re having grilled chicken kabobs with onion, cucumber, and tomato and with tzaziki sauce on the side.

Not as effective as jergens but definitely safer!
Yup, about six months ago somebody posted to this sub about a research study on infertility and mental health and asked for participants. It consisted of weekly self paced readings from a workbook called The Mindful Self-Compassion Workbook: A Proven Way to Accept Yourself, Build Inner Strength, and Thrive https://www.amazon.com/dp/1462526780/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_H6V1HG42XP1Y04WNS1T0 If you Google the book you'll find that it comes with free downloadable meditations that walk you through each technique. The program was to do a 30 min meditation daily and complete 3 chapters of the workbook weekly (they collected data weekly on your mental health and I fear I screwed up their results cause when I started I was doing quite well but towards the end I had a series of delays/issues and my mental health actually got drastically worse). I did enjoy the meditations though.
Oh!! I am super scared of needles too!! Here are a few things I do..
My husband gives all the shots. I prefer intramuscular injections because the tummy feels just too sensitive to poke.
I apply cold pack before and after the shot
I use shot blocker to reduce the impact of the pain (Bionix - ShotBlocker, for Minimized Pain from Immunizations & Injections, Great Alternative to Numbing Creams, Use at Home or On-The-Go, Safe for Kids, Easy-to-Use, Reusable (5 Count) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08VS34SQ5)
I keep reminding myself that it is just a matter of a few seconds and the pain will not be there
I also keep reminding myself of the end goal and that it will be worth it all.
Hope this helps you!! Sending positive vibes and air hugs your way ❤️❤️

Yes I got pregnant btwn ER and FET for baby #1 (also previous MC when I was 40) My RE said it’s 2-3% of patients this happens to bc all the stims can kind of kick your body into doing what it’s supposed to do - like a catalyst.
Definitely get an RPL panel done and read this book and maybe there’s an underlying issue that you can pinpoint and try to resolve.

If your partner can be in the room have them take pictures- if you take the valuim before, you might not really remember much about the transfer. Our clinic let us choose the music in the room so maybe have a song or two in mind in case your clinic does that too. Take it super easy today and for the next couple days. It doesn't really change anything (from what my clinic says) but will help you to know you're taking care of yourself. Watch funny shows- my acupuncture clinic recommends laughing as much as you can in the first-week post-transfer- especially in the first day.
You've done the hard part- getting to FET. Today will be pretty easy by comparison. You've got this!
Oh, I also recommend the Mindful IVF app- they have meditations for transfer day and the TWW. I like this one but there are lots of great ones. Note this one you take 3 pills a day. Definitely read the dosing on any you look at to ensure you are taking the amount needed.

Another option would be to use a Yeti or Stanley insulated tumbler filled with ice and keep that with you throughout. I'm suggesting these brands specifically because they are the only ones I'm aware of that truly keep temperature (I once had tea survive piping hot in a Stanley thermos for 48 hours during a camping trip).

Hi Busy! Good luck with your cycle. Not sure exactly what your protocols are, but between my vitamins and actual oral meds, I am taking 16 pills a day (a few of them at very specific times.) 😵💫
This pill organizer is the one purchase that has helped me stay sane, especially when some days I would play the “I can’t remember if I took my XYZ pill” and would then have to count every pill in the bottle to confirm. Huge so it fits all the pills with ease, and with the daily breakdown, it’s nice to throw only whatever day you need in your bag when you’re on the go.
Good luck!

I found cheaper alternatives and I was really happy with them! I really felt more in control having everything nice and tidy, so I definitely recommend it.
It was easy to get it setup for stims and has switched over to FET perfectly.
Has an ugly logo on the front but some Goo Gone took it right off. I used my cricut to make it fun.
This was my husband’s idea! Keeps everything where it needs to be without rolling around and we can give it a second life as a cooking tray once we’re done with it.
For meds in the fridge I got a vegetable crisper, which also can be used once we’re done with it.
I’ll edit momentarily with a picture of my setup.
I had 3 before trying IVF. We only got 7 eggs and only 3 were able to get fertilized. All 3 had chromosomal mutations like Trisomy 13.

Transfer buddies here!! My girlfriend and I (👩🏾🤝👩🏽) will be transferring on the 9th for our second FET as we have not yet had a baby come to full term. 🤍
I wish everyone a happy cycle and I hope you get the results you have been working towards 🙏
We are beyond hopeful and really just leaving our hearts open for whatever happens this time around. as much as anyone can that is.
My girlfriend received a shot blocker with her egg retrieval kit and she has had me use it on her everytime we do any shots, it will help with the feeling of needle when it goes in. (Might be hard though if you are one of those warriors self administering.)

Massages are so vital! And remember it is an oil so heating the vial up slightly on a heating pad or in your bra/ armpit (we wrap in a paper towel) while getting your other supplies ready for the injection helps as well for it to spread. Also try to not do the same spot over and over again to try and reduce knots from forming.
You've got this!! 🤍

And they have made a huge difference in how I feel daily. I also take iron supplements and do strength training 3x a week! Hope this helps.
Working out brought on my period for the first time in months. I’ve had it consistently since working out.
I did Acupuncture my first round (and prior to egg retrieval) but after that failed I ended up ditching it because another appointment just felt overwhelming and I ended up just not being able to relax during appointments. If it will ease your mind, do it, but otherwise I don't personally think it helped for implantation. Even the treatment they do after / before is just to "relax" you.
I drank coffee (you can have up to 200mg of caffeine even when you're pregnant), worked out as normal (the general prescription is not to change anything too drastically before/after transfer) but tried to also get a couple good walks in. Some things I changed this time that are kind of 'floofy' medically was that a month before I started taking Super Vitamin E and Probiotics. I read some things about how probiotics might be helpful, so I figured...why not. I also started drinking pomegranate juice, eating whole grains, salmon/good fats like avocado, and eating 3 brazil nuts about 2-3 weeks before (and I still did until I got my 2nd positive beta), and did the whole 'keep your feet warm' by wearing comfy socks/or uggs daily after transfer.
Have you had a positive pregnancy before? I never received a positive before this 3rd transfer, and after my 2nd failure I did the endometrial biopsy to check for chronic endometritis. I ended up having it, so went on 2 weeks of antibiotics. I still wonder if this is what was causing the failures. I also did a hysteroscopy but they didn't find anything. I didn't do the ERA because I was doing a natural cycle, and my progesterone levels have always been good, and I have never needed pessaries or PIO. I also double checked my thyroid because it was a bit elevated at the super start of my IVF journey, but it ended up going down... so who knows.
I highly recommend this. https://www.amazon.com/VIKTOR-JURGEN-Massager-Electric-Kneading/dp/B087DYPFBZ. I massage each side of my booty for the 20 or so minutes it runs for each night and it helps tremendously.
Yeah, I always joke to the friends that are there with me, and know my kids origins, that we sure got out moneys worth in that. It will literally be myself and 3 other moms, and strangers will point to my oldest and say “well we know whose he is”. My youngest a little less so, but regardless, they are both absolutely my kids.
I’m gonna give you a future book recommendation to help explain egg donorship to kids, cos I’m assuming from your statement about joking about choosing donors, you are like us, and plan to be pretty open about it. It was weirdly hard to find books that address it, and a few were terribly gendered and just eek! But this one, while not directly addressing egg donorship, it explains how babies are made in such inclusive terms, it covers it, and all different kinds of births and families, yet is still toddler appropriate. I was so grateful when someone gave me this recommendation.

Get the shot blocker and coldest ice pack
Ice for a good 10 minutes ahead of time. I did lupron and menopur in the morning and lupron and follistim in the evening.
Go REALLY slowly when injecting the menopur and follistim-like take 2 minutes. Going really slowly helps it to hurt and bruise way less.
Also, I thought follistim and menopur hurt less on my tum, but that may just be personal preference.

Things that will be helpful along the way.. Idk where she is but “just starting” makes me think she is going through her egg retrieval soon. Since she’ll be poking herself with needles frequently, a cute little ice pack, an eye mask for eventual headaches (like the cooling kind that you can keep in the freezer - I recommend this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001HTYJLO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_GTRYZ7KMXGTJN7E8HVKN )

This thing. I'm not in love with it or anything so something else might be better for this use case
My clinic recommended warming the area with a heating pad for 5 minutes before and after the injection, and massaging it for a few minutes after. I bought a heat massager to use afterwards. We went for a walk afterwards too because I have read that exercising the muscle helps to prevent it from stiffening up.
Also, we do the injections with me lying on the bed on my stomach because that helps me to stay relaxed.
Definitely double-check that you're injecting in the right spot! A lot of people do it too low and that hurts a lot more. This video was super-helpful in finding the right spot.
With doing all of these things, the only thing I felt was a tiny prick when the needle was going in and after that I had no pain at all.

I'm about to heat into my first FET next month and I'm going to look into something called a Synera patch - it's apparently even better but is stupid expensive (like everything else w/ this wretched process....) but I was really starting to lose it this last round and I'm not sure how well I'm going to handle 10 weeks straight of the PIO shots so I'm thinking I might up the ante as it were.
And also - you are TOTALLY right - it is SUCH bullshit we can't just take a pill and I COMPLETELY agree w/ the other poster who said it's likely some patriarchal bullshit and if men were the ones having difficulty getting pregnant I can damn near guarantee we'd have a million solutions, all covered by insurance, all painless and easy. GAH!
I'm proud of you for trying something different and seeing if you can power through it. Just remember - you ALWAYS have the choice to stop if you want to! Good luck to you and your wife - sending you both hugs and support from another needle scaredy-cat.
Yes 100% silly cat videos! But I’ve also found a few fidget cubes from Amazon are helpful while watching something. I never thought I’d be into them but they give my subconscious a little something to do to burn up that stress energy. Also I highly recommend not just any adult coloring book, while those are great, try looking into querkles on Amazon. There’s something so satisfying about finding and coloring in all of a specific number. They have a few different themes but being a cat person I’ll like this one. https://www.amazon.com/Querkles-Cats-Thomas-Pavitte/dp/1626867925
