I got an armrest organizer like this one: https://www.amazon.com/YEE-PIN-Compatible-2016-2020-Organizer/dp/B08JGXZDQD/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=kia+niro+organizer&qid=1622762389&sr=8-5
It won't change your life but it's pretty useful!
this is how i address the void... and i gave up on air mattress... you can get a trifold mattreess or the teton XXL cot mattress or a 1 inch latex topper if memory foam is too hot for you
Dash cover. Mine is light colored and causes a huge glare when driving. I bought a dark colored dash cover and can see much better.
Over backseat trunk organizer, like this one.
If you have kids, a backseat trash can.

Sometimes it's the cable length that matters. Long cables tend to not work for some reasons, so it's better to stick with shorter cables. I use this cable and have no issues with it. https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Powerline-Certified-Samsung-MacBook/dp/B07213D35X/ref=sxts_sxwds-bia-wc-rsf-lq2a1_0?cv_ct_cx=anker+powerline&dchild=1&keywords=anker+powerline&pd_rd_i=B07213D35X&pd_rd_r=fec460a1-7d38-4cff-9fee-68f3a894...
Also perhaps it could be an issue related with your phone port?
This seem to fit according to what I read on Amazon

Strongly recommend getting one of these, it really helped organize the center console. Here's the amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GNDLZBP I think I also saw them on ebay.
This is the hitch we bought. You’ll need to cut a little notch out or the passenger side wing of the hitch and a 3 inch notch out of the muffler guard on the Niro.
It was relatively easy. Took about an hour total.

Congrats! I just purchased a Niro too, although the HEV and I went with the Maxliner floormats on Amazon, just got them yesterday and they fit great. I also picked up this Center Console Organizer and so far I like it too. Crossbars came with mine, but I haven't put them on yet. I'll either wait until I need to use them or my wife gets annoyed that there is a big box taking up room in the garage. hahaha
Do you have a PHEV? If so, a spare charging cable like this one might be nice. That way you can keep one in the garage and one in your car. My spouse really likes this wall-mounted holster for the charging nozzle that we keep in the garage. Beats leaving it on the floor.
Probably more practical than cool suggestions; hope that's OK.
Put LED bulbs in there. I've been really happy with these in my 2020 LXS and haven't had any issues. The light output is whiter and brighter than my Lexus IS250 F Sport which has factory HID.
Yes I've driven my Lexus facing my Niro and it doesn't blind oncoming drivers and I have yet to get a single person flashing their high beams at me. When I drive my Lexus I get the occasional person that flashes so I flash my high beams back.
If you get these make sure when you rotate them in so the LED is vertical as that mimics the halogen filament and it gives you the same light pattern that works with our projectors
I charge nightly with 110v. No problems at all. I use an outlet in the garage and the electronics pack stays dry, but the plug lives outside on one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FC9M4YF/
I run these in my 2020 Niro and ran them on my 2017 Niro. No issues. When you install them make sure the Fins are vertical so the LED pattern mirrors the halogen bulb. Get zero bright/ dark spots that way and you don't bug any other drivers. The bulbs come with a mini Allen key and you loosen it and twist the bulb a little then lock it back. You'll see after you put the bulbs in the housing if the Fins are vertical or not and which way you need to adjust
Super annoying android auto issues have been plaguing me since I bought my 2020 Niro HEV. Similar to you, it does not happen when others plug in an iPhone to my Niro. The android auto issues happened with both my old Pixel 5 and my new Pixel 7
The only thing that helped some is getting a very short, high speed, and robust cable for connection. With this cable I get maybe 1 disconnect every other day, compared to 5 or 6 disconnects in a 30 minute drive. It's a very annoying issue still, I'm considering the motorola wireless android auto connect cable to get around this issue.

Here's the only cable that has made any improvement for me (although like I said, still not %100 perfect)

Yeah I would not upgrade trim packages for this. I used this in a rental and my phone got so hot that I stopped even putting it in that nook. Ended up being a huge pain because I’d put it in the center console and then forget about it.
Also, they sell these for $20.

Leave a trickle charger in it. In wintertime I plug our RV 12v batteries to this.
If u are worried about surge or fluctuation. Got a line conditioner.
This is for the trickle charger NOT your ac car charger.
Me too, really love how well they work.
I got these https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HCZ4VCH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This seems to be the one to use on the Niro, people on the message boards are putting this one in after someone tested several different brands and posted how they worked on his Niro. I put it on mine a few weeks ago also and it's been working great.

CPlay2Air worked for me in our 2019 Niro PHEV and then 2022 Niro EV for ~1yr until a firmware update bricked it. This one has been working in our Niro EV for several months.
I’ve been told that won’t happen in an update ever. I bought this wireless adapter and it works well. Ironic, isn’t it, that the step up in monitors shut us out of wireless CarPlay? CarPlay Wireless Connection,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B091YWGY2T?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

For the price it was a good solution for me and cheap enough to gamble on if it didn’t work for all my uses. I’ve had it for a year and so far so good. I only attach them when I need to use them though.
I use this one. It will run level 2 if you ever have that setup in the future, but it comes with the adapter to run level 1, 110 standard US. Plus, it's 25' long, so you may not need an extension.
RainX Latitude are the best! I drive 33k miles a year and I count on them. They make the rain bead on your windshield so it's so much easier to see in rain and snow! My Niro is actually a 2020 but the cheap Rack I bought says it fits 2017-2021. The bars can be moved forward/backward to accommodate boxes of different sizes.
This has happened so many times to me, it’s a new battery too!
it usually happens when I haven’t used the car for a week or so. I have one of these permanently in the boot -
I already have some headrest hooks that I love and 10/10 recommend. There are a ton of variations, but I like how these you can hang something on each side. I’m not a sparkly person but it is fun to see the tiny rainbows on my ceiling
I was browsing tiktok and found a seat gap organizer with cup holder which I really like since the front center console isn’t great.
This is basically the tissue holder that I have. I keep a box of tissues in the trunk and refill it from that, it fits about…an inch of tissues at a time
Not OP, but this is what I bought for the center console insert. It works great.
IDK why but I can't edit my other comment. Here is an example of a tray, though the one I'm looking at doesn't seem to be available online.

A little different approach: I bought this second $200 charger:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Y7HPKB6/
The original Kia charger stays at home in the garage for easy night charging. The new charger has a black carrying case that stows nicely on the floor of the backseat behind one of the front seats. It blends in well with the black interior.
This keeps the trunk pretty clear for groceries and stuff. On the rare occasion that we have >2 passengers, I throw the carrying case in the trunk or leave it in the garage if I know I won't be charging the car away from home.
Here's some more information about two of the above issues with the Niro UVO entertainment system:
It can easily be done by yourself. I make sure to do it myself after every oil change (7,500 miles). Make sure the gas tank is close to empty and add the additive right before filling up your tank.
I believe dealerships charge close to $80 for something as simple as unscrewing a bottle and putting it in the gas tank. The additive can be bought at any auto parts store for under $10. Here it is on amazon for $16:

I actually got it from Amazon. I’m glad I have it but would have preferred one that went all the way to the windshield and not left a small strip of dash exposed as there is still a minor glare.
Looks like there are more options now on Amazon, a lot cheaper and even with free returns. There weren’t many options when I got mine.
I've been very happy with this one for my 20 EV EX: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZCKWQNY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Good quality, appropriate spring-loaded action, stows away in the trunk floor as I trust the OEM model does.
Are you using a level 2 charger now? Your level 1 (the one included with your car) isn't going to go any faster than it already is.
Have the electrician install a NEMA 14-50R outlet. Then your parents can use something like this (https://www.amazon.com/RVGUARD-Adapter-14-50P-TT-30R-Female/dp/B085H8PPJL/) to connect the RV to the outlet when they visit.
This also gives you the option to go to a proper level 2 charger, and future proofs if you to go a full BEV.
This what I used for my 2019. But I also just throw it in my purse. It works fine. But yes, you need to drill.

We use something called "dulling spray" in the film industry for just this. It can be sprayed on, it is clear, and you can wipe it off with glass cleaner. Won't work for high touch areas, but for that strip it should be fine. If it starts to kick again just give it another shot.
Solved! It turns out that I needed to use a different LED fog bulb that was Canbus error-free. Thank you to the other users who replied and led me to pursue this approach as they reported that they did not have any error using the LED bulbs that they used in their Niro.
For the benefit of others, here is the fog light LED that DOES work with a Kia Niro 2017 and does NOT generate any errors: LED Fog Lights for Kia Niro -- No Canbus Errors -- Works Great
Alternatively, I could have used the original LED fog lights that generated the error but insert an inline resistor. The solution is less ideal, as it unnecessarily draws more power than needed for the LEDs. Still it is a decent workaround. Here's the link for the inline resistor which did work:
LED resistor which solves the canbus error when using the wrong led bulbs.
Thank you! That is so helpful to know. I'm going to try a different LED that claims to be canbus error free. Maybe I was just using the wrong type of LED. Can you send me a link or picture of the fog LED that you used?
For clarification, this is the product that MAKES an error:
No worries my bad on the phrasing
Regarding all weather's, I know people always refer weather techs (they are great) but they're also pretty damn expensive. I ended up opting for Max Liners on Amazon. They work perfectly and I got ones for the trunk as well. I'm in CA but got these cause we got to national parks and hike a lot. They were excellent in the winter when we road tripped to Tetons/Yellowstone. Super easy to clean as well.
I have a 2020 PHEV, site says it doesn't fit the PHEV, but it fit the front and back like a glove. I have had Weather Tech and also Husky Liner in my other cars. IMO, Not worth the extra $$$ for the Weather Tech. In the rear, it seems to help to put it over the OEM mats for better fit.
I paid $129 for the front and rear set linked below. It doesn't look like Husky Liner has it for the Niro.

Been meaning to buy a cargo box for road trips, but for some reason we haven’t been taking trips this past year...
Welcome to the family. I love my 2020 LXS. I got mine same color. It's beautiful. I highly recommend you upgrade your headlight bulbs to LED. Been using these since September and they are bright and no issues at all as long as you ensure the LED goes in vertically
Pretty inexpensive but for the price - they’ve done the job:

Just did a road trip in my (new to me) 2017 Touring. This fit perfectly! I just didn't fill parts 5 & 6. Also had to lay with my head at the trunk end and feet towards front, which made it easier to get in and out too. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B088CRV46T/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I'm under 5' so I found this to be a great solution. Also, in the event you accidentally kill your 12-volt battery, there's a reset button! Was a lifesaver when my husband "turned on the car" and we found ourselves with a dead battery at 1am on top of a mountain! Happy car camping!
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0163AKGNG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fab_JviGFbW0Q3PS9 12 gauge, 25 feet. But full disclosure, my first one showed some burn marks in the plug, so I replaced it. That's also when I added this adapter to relieve the stress at the outlet. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001R0RNWK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fab_4xiGFbD4Z50D4
I use one of these. However, because the Niro's charger plug has a right angle, it gets pretty tight and ugly inside there. In fact, the plastic casing has started to split at the seam, so I may move to a new one from the 4-pack this year. The white box on the charger with the data screen seems to be weatherproof. (Mine's been outside for two years in all climates.) If there's a similar protector to this that will more comfortably hold the connection, someone please share it. Also, unless your outlet is very low, I recommend using a right angle connector for your extension cord to take the hanging stress off.

EDIT: I finally found one that claims to accommodate right angle connections. I may need to get one of these.
The Niro is picky about USB cables for Android Auto. Whenever mine wear out it stops working. My solution was to buy a dedicated USB cable for the car and I make sure to never bend it or take it out. Haven't had issues in 3+ years both in my 2017 LX and 2020 LXS.
yeah I bought one dedicated USB cable just for my car and still getting the same issues. Got this one off Amazon
Congrats on the new (to you) car! I got this cargo cover from Amazon and it works fine on my '17 hybrid; it fits right into the two little cutouts in the trunk.
Big recommendation: Get the OEM spare tire kit. You don't want to be stuck with a nail in your tire and a frustrating flat repair kit in the rain on the side of the highway.
I wound up buying the OEM spare tire kit through Amazon. We make some fairly long trips through areas with very spotty cell phone reception. I'd hate to be stuck with a blowout and not be able to get roadside assistance.
I bought a 1 foot cable from microcenter last year since my original usb c cable broke.
They also have them on Amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D7PM3S4/ref=cm_sw_r_em_apa_i_rpM6Eb9X0WY0E
It isn't the cheapest one, but you could shop around.
I picked up this nice case from Amazon - haven't had an issue since and I have a toddler who used to love making the car go wild. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07DXNM1QQ
I got these: MotorFansClub Cross Bars Crossbars Fits for KIA NIRO 2017-2019 Baggage Luggage Roof Rack Rail https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RQS6T51/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_CCxeDbJYCAY7Y about a month ago. Quick and easy to install. Fair amount of noise above 30mph though, so if you're not a fan of wind whistle, maybe not a great option.
Haven't actually put anything on them yet, but have a Thule cargo box we're hoping will work for an upcoming camping trip.
Hi. So I’m getting a portable one only. :) And I think the current outlet I have is I think 50amp (cz I saw it written on the Nema 6-50 outlet).
