Grab some Easy Off yellow cap heavy duty oven cleaner (or any oven cleaner that contains lye), a heavy duty trash bag, some latex/rubber gloves, and a mask. Go outside and put the piece in the bag. Spray the crap out of the piece. Seal the bag and let it sit for a couple hours (it’s recommended overnight). If you put the bag in direct sunlight it will make the cleaner work better. Then hose it off (still wearing gloves) and rinse it in soapy water. Give it a rinse in a 50/50 vinegar/water mix to completely inert the lye and BAM your piece should be back to new!
Best price at the moment for the 26cm 5.5qt with shipping to USA is with Amazon Italy:
https://www.amazon.it/Creuset-Evolution-Casseruola-Rotonda-Coastal/dp/B0136W025Q
"Evolution" is the European name for the "Signature" range. If you mark the order as a "gift" then Amazon will ship it in a huge outer carton that the pot will rattle around in. If you don't mark it as a "gift" then it will ship in its own packaging with a ton of sticky labels stuck to it.

Edit: ALSO, it is NOT recommended to use BKF as it is gritty and will eventually dull out your enamel. Best to use Easy Off yellow cap. The chemicals will only react to the carbon crud on the piece and will not harm the enamel.
This is my absolute favorite! This also explains the how and why cast iron works, and it ranks cookware by brand and material.

Grab yourself one of these Tala silicone spatula/spoons: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tala-Silicone-Spatula-Wooden-Handle/dp/B00537PJG0. They're based on the original, old-style Le Creuset spatulas; some people find them a little small, but they'll be perfect for your 18cm pot and they're great for scraping the bottom and sides and very useful for getting the last bit of sauce out of jars.

Wow, thank you--I was searching all over! I mostly use it for soup and chili ... and I've even baked bread in it! I love fondue so I'll have to do that soon :)
Looks like a poêlon, see here: https://www.amazon.fr/Creuset-Poêlon-Avec-Couvercle-Diam/dp/B0000DGQXS
On this website the seller in the description dates it as from 1980 https://fr.shopping.rakuten.com/offer/buy/3875262556/poelon-avec-couvercle-le-creuset.html
These days in Europe you can still buy the pot (called ‘caquelon’, and without the lid) which is used to make fondue!
I got it on Amazon -

I really don't think you can go wrong with either. I love my braiser and it's one of my most used pieces. I only have the 3.5Qt, but I'd suggest going the 5QT if you can handle the size and weight of it.
If you go that route, I highly recommend Wini Moranville's digital book: The Braiser Cookbook which was created around LC's braiser. You can find it on Amazon for a couple of bucks. She does a lot of French cooking and it's superb.
https://www.amazon.ca/Braiser-Cookbook-irresistible-braiser-great-Tromantina-ebook/dp/B00AQZ41I6/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=wini+moranville&qid=1611064227&sr=8-2
If you still want to braise, but want to go the dutch oven route, I highly recommend the "How to Braise Everything by America's Test Kitchens", and most of their recipes recommend using a LC 7.25QT round dutch oven., so you have that wider surface area to braise, but still have the higher sides.
You can totally use a braiser with many of these recipes as well, but they use a dutch oven in the book. It's been an amazing resource for me. 😊 Not only recipes, but great detail/photos of equipment, cuts of meat/veal/fish/shellfish/veggies - basically how to braise anything. I think you'll find you'll do a lot more with your dutch oven than just soups/stews if you use this book. It certainly broadened my horizons 🥰
Just my opinion, (so take it with a grain of salt LOL) but knowing what I know now after reading that huge braising book I mentioned above), if I could only go with one option, I think I'd still go the with the larger sized French oven as it is still the most versatile. If you can swing both, though, then by all means get both (I'm sorry, I am an enabler 🤣)
Good luck with your decision and do let us know what you end up choosing and the colour 💖
What I like about the Deep is that I can fry / sear meat without making my cook top a mess. I'm very heavy handed with stirring and frying, lol. I just made chicken adobo last night from this book, and it was really good! I've also done a vegetable soup that was a family hit https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/182112/carrot-potato-and-cabbage-soup/.
Just got this book, and am excited to try out some recipes "The 5-Ingredient Dutch Oven Cookbook: One Pot, 101 Easy Recipes" By Lisa Grant. I'm still a bit of a novice when it comes to the DO.
Congrats on your new DO!!
Twins with you! I have cerise, Caribbean, Marseille, deep teal, marine, ombré grey, flame, rosemary, indigo, fig, emerald and oyster. I want all of your colors too! My flame piece is this one https://www.amazon.com/Creuset-L2599-202-Enameled-Raymond-Saucepan/dp/B01HQSCHVI/
Le Creuset sells a cream cleanser with a mild abrasive (similar to what is in ceramic/glass cooktop cleaner or liquid barkeepers friend). It does a really nice job of cleaning the muck and marks off.
https://www.amazon.com/Creuset-Enameled-Cast-Cookware-Cleaner/dp/B01AXZ6E8I
In addition to what has already been said, I think it can also be messy to use. May be a good option if you’re keeping honey in the fridge )my friend does that for similar reasons), or if you’re using for another purpose, such as sauce, condiments, vase. You might consider this option, Which is not Le Creuset, but is completely sealed. Hunnibi Honey DispenserI was pleasantly surprised to find it works beautifully and also looks pretty on my counter.
Here’s a handy comment I have from back in the day:

I ended up buying a couple glass/silicon rim universal pot lids from amazon. They fit better than metal lids in my opinion because the silicon isn't rigid and so there's more tolerance to accommodate slightly different pot/pan sizes (less rattling around!). And I have a lot fewer lids to store.
Salvageable? It's possibly cleaner than the one I ate lunch off today.

But that's just burned on grease. Scrub it with a stiff brush and hot water to get most of it off then use it.
I bought a set of these to use on my skillets (nonstick & ECI) that didn't come with lids. They work great.

No, but I ended up going with this 8qt Artichaut DO for a little cheaper! There's a couple as of this moment

It's a 7.5 qt chef's oven (with glass lid), classic style (I don't think they make it in Signature), and Amazon had it for like $169 last week, if I recall. QVC also sells it. This one looks like it might be Marseille.

My collection is small but mighty. In order to have space to buy a couple more pieces, I bought a small corner shelving unit from amazon. It only has 4 shelves, because I needed something that would fit under the pizza peel and splatter guard I already had hanging on the wall. If there had been nothing in that corner at all, I might have been tempted to buy the Lodge cookware stand, which would give me the opportunity to buy more pieces. :)

Another good choice for the toaster oven is a 3.5 quart round wide Dutch oven. They sell it at Amazon but I only in cerise and flame.
https://www.amazon.com/Creuset-Signature-Round-2-Quart-Cherry/dp/B008ADR6R4/
Amazon price drop on the Cerise 4.5qt (24cm) to $250 USD. It's normally $345

I have a similar one that has concentric circles instead of straight beams along the inside, but yes, that's a good one. I also like this one to wrap around the outside of the round one, in bigger pots.
The only silicone roasting riser I DON'T recommend is the Prepara one with the leaf shapes - they're hollow underneath and an absolute b!tch to clean. Like, three times through the dishwasher and then I stood at the sink individually soaping each leaf twice cuz the cooking fat didn't wanna completely come off even with Dawn. Ugh. Never again!!
The 3.5qt round wide DO fits in my toaster oven. It's 12.5" handle to handle you can put it in diagonally. It's 5.5" tall with the lid.
Be sure and measure the diagonal dimension of your oven because you can fit these pots and sometimes if you put them in with the handles diagonally.
They sell it on Amazon it says risotto pot on the box. The diameter is 24cm. I've only seen it in cerise and Flame.
https://www.amazon.com/Creuset-Signature-Round-2-Quart-Cherry/dp/B008ADR6R4
https://www.amazon.com/Creuset-Signature-Round-2-Quart-Dutch/dp/B00B21BU82
I've seen dimensions on both Williams-Sonoma and lecreuset.com that were wrong so you have to keep that in mind. Sometimes they are giving you the diameter only of the pot without the handles, other times they're giving you the dimensions with the handles, sometimes they're giving you the height without the lid, sometimes the height with the lid, sometimes they note that sometimes they don't, and sometimes they're just wrong. But you could always return if the dimensions they are showing on the site are wrong.
I also found a 2.75 quart round wide in an outlet that fits in a toaster oven. It's a classic model, 22cm in diameter. They had it in the outlets in chile red not too long ago.
I think the 2.25qt braiser may fit too, but I don't have that one to confirm the measurements.
Also, is this Le Creuset Enameled Cast Iron Signature Braiser, 5 qt. , Caribbean https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089H19RYS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_2PV2WWTFTET6THHNGY3Q link legitimate? It ships through Chef's Arsenal but comes up in Le Creuset store.
Do you think the TNS glass lid would fit this pot, even though it isn't TNS? I did find this one.
Le Creuset TNS Glass Lid 22cm https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B004WNIJH2/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_MPH6KS8475RKYY4SPW0Z
The ones with stems are far more common but I did find this old Amazon listing:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/creuset-Set-Egg-Cups/dp/B00AZZDKMU
I think the stem-less ones were perhaps just a fairly short production run, or were older from before the stoneware range became so prolific.
Given the age based on handle wear, I doubt it's a fake. Fake Le Creuset is a more recent event.
Looks like they replaced it with this model where the grill is built into the lid:
I don't remember what terms I used when I found the little people, but was looking for something to replace the little plastic pieces that come with them. I found the carrots when searching for silicone pot lid lifter since I remembered that was how the first ones were listed.
I'm not sure they are necessary, but they sure are cute.
Thanks! I found them the other day when going down and Amazon rabbit hole. I like them much better than trying to use a kitchen towel on a gas stove.
9-12 adults and 8 kids sure sounds like a houseful! I'd definitely go for the big'uns then, or, if you want to be able to cook for your family without the crowd, consider getting two largish pieces pieces the same size, like the 9 qt rounds - that way you only use them both when you're feeding everybody, and just keep on in the cabinet when it's immediate family + leftovers not.
Just make sure you measure your oven width. Two 9 qt rounds may not fit side by side, but perhaps two 8 qt ovals will fit side by side and front-to-back. You likely won't be able to stagger full DOs on the racks vertically, though braisers are a possibility.
Also, for accessories, consider getting a Frywall for when you're searing - it minimizes splatters very effectively - and a silicone roasting trivet for the braisers and DOs, to keep the meat elevated - it boils if it sits down in the braising liquid.
Just in case you can’t find one, you can leave the tea loose and use a strainer as you pour into cup or you can use tea balls https://www.ebay.com/itm/202863587226?_ul=MX&chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=21527-161791-684379-7&mkcid=2&itemid=202863587226&targetid=1301274261534&device=m&mktype=pla&googleloc=1001773&poi=&campaig...
Or
It’s this sponge—it’s soaked with some cleaning agent, so all you have to do is moisten it.
I’m not in the US myself, so I actually used the German version of the product, Meister Proper Schmutzradierer, there may be a local version where you live, too.
The other sponge I used was a regular one with an abrasive pad.
The blue pan is actually a deep round grill, so no lid!
And the hooks were found on Amazon
Basically what u/OhGod0fHangovers said.
(These are past results of two pieces from when I first bought them)

Griddles are smooth... this is a grill pan.
Compare Le Creuset's skinny griddle vs their skinny grill.
I’ll let you in on my dirty little secret… I put mine through the dishwasher 😱
I’ve been doing it for years and they come out gleaming.
I use this detergent:
(Pack of 6) Cascade with Phosphates Professional 85oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PT0324C/
And I use rinse aid.
I clean mine in the dishwasher and they come out sparkling. I don’t prewash my dishes or pans either, I just scrape off any big bits of food and then stick ‘em right in the dishwasher.
I use this special dishwasher detergent:
(Pack of 6) Cascade with Phosphates Professional 85oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PT0324C/ (this is almost a 1 year supply for me)
And I use a Cascade Platinum Power Dry rinse aid.

Really depends on what you use it for, for small batches of sauces, custards and other such sticky foods, or where you wont fill it anyway, it indeed is so much easier to use a stainless saucepan or saucier. But for small soups I prefer the Le Creuset.
I got this one https://www.amazon.nl/CREUSET-professionele-handvat-ovenrood-gietijzer/dp/B01BSNGDE4/ref=sr_1_5?__mk_nl_NL=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&crid=21UT2UIBCYUE7&dchild=1&keywords=le+creuset+sauspan&qid=1606054465&sprefix=le+creuset+sau%2Caps%2C371&sr=8-5 and the pouring lip does help, and the wooden handle stays cool. I can not imagine to use the metal handle with a towel to tilt it, it is way to heavy for that. Tilting the wooden handle is difficult enough if you have to scrape it out it just gets really heavy. For soup its fine, as it empties quickly.
But a DO will be heavy too in this small size and then I would go for one with handle anyway as a DO is even more difficult to empty as it will have the tendency to sag and food will spill on the other side handle or more risk to burn your knuckles while grabbing it firmly.
These are the ones I got:
The price is $5 higher now than when I got them. There’s many others just like them on Amazon, packaged in single pieces, 2 packs or 3 packs. I only got the 3 pack because the price difference was negligible snd they had faster shipping
None of these are actually “on sale”. It seems like this site just increased the MSRP to make it look like a bargain?
Here is the 4.5 qt Dutch oven on amazon for $212 instead of 300. It’s the same for pretty much everything else I checked

I found the idea of "pellet hardened non stick" interesting, so I bought one pan, loved it, then bought the set.
Ordinarily I use the cast iron, but there are days when I don't have the juice and need to go lightweight.
I got a similar rack on amazon. Here's a link to it but it looks like its out of stock. Was only $60 when I purchased it https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00005Q5GB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The current version of this color is Meringue. It's really cute, so hopefully you would prefer it.
If you go to the LC website and find the "shop by color" pull-down, you'll see there's a slider to "discontinued colors". Dune is in there. They don't have any Dune colored stuff for sale but if you click on "Dune" you'll see some samples of the color. Move your mouse away and that page will be gone though.
Here's an Amazon page with a 'Dune' product on it though, so that might help. It's a 5.5 qt, which might be comparable to your 26 cm pot.
