Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover. I know some folks balk at the religious side of his financial philosophy or his advice on investing, BUT his core message - creating an intentional plan for your money and life, has been life changing for me.
Boundaries by Dr. Henry Cloud. This is another book recommended by Dave Ramsey. It's more in-your-face-biblical, but it's thesis is huge. If you feel like your family and friends take advantage of you, or you're enabling bad behavior with people close to you, Dr. Cloud's book helps you understand that it's ok to say no and how to create appropriate and healthy boundaries and still love your friends and family.
An Astronauts Guide to Life on Earth by Col. Chris Hadfield. Hadfield is a well known and highly praised Canadian Astronaut who outlines his way of thinking and approaching challenges as he tells the story of his career as an Astronaut. His way of thinking is a complete paradigm shift for most people and I think it fits in really well with this sub.
*The Millionaire Next Door: The Surprising Secrets of America's Wealth*y by Thomas J. Stanley. OK I know this one sounds more like a door to door sales pitch than a beneficial book but it was on the New York Times' bestseller list for a long time. It was written in 1996 but still holds almost all of its relevance. This book is about a lifestyle change in regards to your finances and spending habits. It totally shatters your perception of wealth and the wealthy and it gives you a fresh outlook on your relationship with money.
Ditto both of these. Total Money Makeover is an excellent blueprint complete with 7 "baby steps" to walk out of debt and start intentionally telling your money what to do.
As someone who has averaged 100 books a year for decades, I frequently point to Boundaries as one of the best, most life-changing books out there. You don't have to agree with the theology to find that the truths are applicable to everyone.
And this is the perfect place to put a plug in for Booker T. Washington's autobiography Up From Slavery, another hugely inspiring book that makes you feel like you can tackle anything.
The colors are pretty rough, the button would look better with a sans-serif font as opposed to serif, the border is too large, and the button text isn't centered. I'm not a fan of the current one. You could also do some cool stuff with CSS to make it 'clickable' like this. I would caution against the current banner. Who's doing your CSS?
I would suggest a couple of books to help get you on the right track.
