As a kid, I had two hardcover books that were literally filled with only pages about magic eye stuff. There were no stories or text - just magic eye images. I think one of the books was actually a Disney book, but the other one wasn't. I had so much fun going through those! And I was really happy when I found this sub :)
Edit: Found them! Here's the Disney book, and here's the other.
It can be found here in scratch with insturctions or can be found here too (works much faster) but without instructions.
Yeah scratch isn't the best thing but I made it with it. I'm a god. JK it it isn't actually that hard. The reason I made this so everyone could play around with 3D text easily. Also to play with it myself. The math in the zooming is a bit off but I couldn't get it right. I made it in two days.
I got the picture by copypasting the text to google docs and put the font Roboto Mono. Then took a screenshot.
It's a flat image uploaded directly to Reddit's internal image hosting. Your app must not be Reddit-friendly.
The mobile app I use is called Relay for Reddit. Maybe that will work better for u2? :3
Again, this is made with my magic eye text creator in scratch. Edited it so there will be letters at the end of the line as it should. I forgot that in the earlier version.
And once again, the font is Roboto Mono (my favourite font) so the distances between everything would be the same.
Whoah yeah that's a weird one. I couldn't get it at first, wasn't even sure if it was a MagicEye but eventually I did get into the 3Dness of it, then saw a group of words standing out from the others on a different 'plane'... not sure I've got it all though.
Bit of a tangent but this book is amazing in terms of talking about how our visual systems are much more than just pixels being piped into our brain (eg specialised edge-detection mechanisms which are better in peripheral vision etc)

That is quite possible. You would need sufficient control over your binocular focus to lead both eyes to fix on the object simultaneously, and for the combined images to appear 3 dimensional to you.
Are you able to perceive depth while viewing through either a pair of binoculars or a viewmaster toy?
Can you see well enough out of each eye that you can read text with either eye closed?
