Aww. What a sweetie. You can tell by the look in her eyes that she loves you, and she was tired.
I know it was hard, but you did good.
If you go over to... I believe it's /r/freeebooks, they have one on there you can download today from Amazon for free. It's all about coping with the loss of a pet.
My maltese has been on galliprant and it's been a life-changer for him. I also occasionally give him some of this hemp oil:
PB Pets Hemp Oil for Dogs and... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FR968ZR?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
hope your little guy feels better
my maltest loves rope toys! (he's had the same one since day1) also he's obsessed with these from amazon
It seems way to big, but my Maltese loves these giant alligators. Its pretty funny to watch her roll around with it trying to squeeze every squeaker. https://www.amazon.com/Outward-Hound-Squeaker-Squeaky-Multi-Squeaker/dp/B001WAFT80/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=alligator+toy+squeaker&qid=1597694957&sr=8-4
Depends on your dog and their temperament.
We had a pure bred maltese (since passed away) that when she first came to live with us - had no issues. My wife and I both worked office jobs that required us to be away from home 8-10 hours a day. We had an extra bathroom the dog stayed in. Had food, a constantly circulating water fountain, all the bedding she could use... and a "Fresh Patch" to potty on. Totally spoiled.
She had no problems, all day, every day. We'd leave her, she'd just sleep. Occasionally moving about and getting what she needed and going back to sleep. She was normally a low energy dog (she was about 6 years old at this time) and would have slept all day anyways. No issues ever (we had a camera in the room with her).
Then.... something happened. We don't know what or why... but she was no longer ok being home alone. She'd lose her shit. Be it 10mn or 10 hours, very unhappy. Even took to shredding the box the fresh patch came in.
Eventually we moved, started working more remote. Covid. We even got her a sister (Maltese/lo chen mix) to help her separation anxiety. You know how much that helped? They'd just sit there and alternate freaking out / barking at the door. So... I guess that was an improvement?
Pumpkin isn’t bad for them and can be great for a sick tummy. That doesn’t sound like too much. And diarrhea is a concern, but I think it’s the lesser evil and will mean she’s on the path to re-establishing balance in her gut. Also, the vet can provide probiotics.
For overall maintenance, I recommend https://www.amazon.com/Instinct-Freeze-Natural-NatureS-Variety/dp/B079Z4MZTG?pd_rd_w=bukhH&content-id=amzn1.sym.deffa092-2e99-4e9f-b814-0d71c40b24af&pf_rd_p=deffa092-2e99-4e9f-b814-0d71c40b24af&pf_rd_r=GSA5WDWP2DHJBE9MH09C&pd_rd_wg...
Loki has a sensitive tummy and a few of these in his food really make a difference as a way of maintaining balance!
Yes I did towels pver the cage as well. In the end, I bought this and have no regrets. It’s this one!! My friend found it on Facebook marketplace for $70, brand new!! So a total steal❤️. The quality is really nice, wheels around so easily, collapses to fit in my car and I can do it all one handed with pup in my arm.
Not sure how to share a link but I bought it off Amazon it was 3 little dresses for $13.99 https://www.amazon.com/Princess-Dresses-Striped-Dresses-X-Small/dp/B093Q9LZKT/ref=mp_s_a_1_17?crid=3IVFV8AVHXBNE&keywords=dog+dresses+for+small+dogs&qid=1666661002&qu=eyJxc2MiOiI5LjMzIiwicXNhIjoiOS4wMiIsInFzcCI6IjguMzkifQ%3D%3D&spr...

This is the one I bought, I like it! It has a strap to clip their harness onto for safety
This is the one that I used to fly on Delta Airlines. Please be sure to reserve a spot for your dog in advance.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000633ZOY/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Here's the one we used to fly with our Maltese and Yorkie last year. The Maltese is around 7.5 lbs. They both seemed to be fine (except when our flight got delayed 2 hours!). Like one of the other posters said, you will need to remove them at security, so keep a leash handy.
Yea! I bought a brush on sale on chewy when he was a puppy and it the best brush I've ever used. None of the wire bristles have ever fallen off.
I got this when it was 3 bucks. I use the angled side for detangling mats and i never use the straight side.

Be careful with coconut oil though. I find it to be a great health elixir, but Loki has a sensitive tummy, which is not uncommon for the breed. Coconut oil can be hard on the tummy for Maltese!
Whatever you choose, I recommend adding these in when the tummy needs a bit of extra fiber https://www.amazon.com/Instinct-Freeze-Natural-NatureS-Variety/dp/B079Z4MZTG?pd_rd_w=oGGak&content-id=amzn1.sym.bc622850-a717-4d94-96c3-7cc183488298&pf_rd_p=bc622850-a717-4d94-96c3-7cc183488298&pf_rd_r=SNBCHSS61GP6R54ZG8EH&pd_rd_wg...
They are full of great things like sweet potato, pumpkin, and freeze dried raw food. They also make good treats!
These two products are so great!
I sometimes just use the neat microfiber cloth but often if they are really muddy or dirty I do both. Mud buster microfiber cloth
Thanks for the welcome and I never heard of the water bottle thing. Dory drinks from a regular bowl but Im constantly cleaning her eyes because i dont want her to develop tear stains. Shes 2 1/2 years old people can not believe how she has no stains. Its a lot of work though! I also take her to the groomer every 5 weeks and in between grooms I bathe her with this shampoo that helps whiten their coat. Here's the link :-)

Hiiiii there! I got her denim jacket from Amazon. Today is my first day on Reddit so I'm not sure if links work but just in case, here is the link to the exact Jacket. In the picture she was wearing a small but she is now 10lbs and I bought her a new one in a size Medium. Please post pics of your yorkie in it, I'd love to see. And amazon is great with returns if it doesnt fit. Happy shopping :-)
Didn't think it was but it actually is!! it was a gift I found this one on Amazon looks the same https://www.amazon.com/Votuleazi-Backpack-Pocket-Harness-Cartoon/dp/B09KTTF1W4/ref=mp_s_a_1_9?dplnkId=202a657f-38bb-4e85-94fe-318bf101f230&keywords=dog+backpack+harness&qid=1655220588&sr=8-9
Not sure what to put on the wounds themselves but you could do one of those puffy soft collars to prevent licking while not limiting her otherwise. Like this.
Yes! And my boy loves it. He sits so happily and calmly in it and loves looking out in the world!

Yes!!! Sorry, I don’t know how people make the links shorter, but I literally bought 10 of these and have one in every car and my purse and basically every room of the house LOL. I have my mom hooked on them now too.
Is he neutered? Can you have someone take him out once a day? For now keep a diaper on him when you can't be home. We have used these in the past and they are great, washable and comfortable for the dog. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0183H0Z38/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
Often chewing paws + stains combo are from food allergies. You could do an elimination diet with her. And what a good hearted person you are to take her in, anything you might need advice with I’ll be happy to help you if I cannot , I have 4 Maltese and lots of friends with Maltese.
About the diapers, I have these two in hand just in case we go to someone’s house with my brat girl as she marks. These are disposable and really really good.
This one is smaller

One of my boys always seems to know immediately if I even touched scissors even though he can’t see, lol.
This is the omega 3 supplement I’m using now. It was recommended by my vet. Besides other health benefits, it’s supposed to promote healthy skin and a silky coat. The dosage is one capsule per 20 lbs. I just poke one and squeeze contents in my dog’s food. I’ve never been bothered by any fishy odor with this or the previous brand I used.
You might want to just check with your vet first.

I will say that with time both my boys had a LOT less problems with matting. It gets easier. 😃
Yes, it was definitely a game changer for me when I started using a travel Wet Brush. All my expensive brushes became obsolete, lol.
These two items were also very helpful. Still have and use both after about nine years.

With the comb I hold the hair at the skin with one hand and work on the mat a little at a time. But mostly I find it less stressful to just cut the mat out. It usually doesn’t even show but it will grow back, right? Better not to stress out yourself and your dog. These scissors are perfect for that because they are very small and have the safety tips.
It also may be helpful to give your dog a good omega-3 supplement. You could ask you vet.

You likely don’t need the sod grass. There are trays that that the training pads can be placed in: https://www.amazon.com/Awesome-Potty-Holder-Small-Medium/dp/B08BC7G5RJ/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_sspa?crid=1T4SZSFLXXXYA&keywords=dog+training+tray+potty&qid=1637195707&sprefix=dog+trainibg+tray%2Caps%2C127&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5...
My dogs use them consistently. It took time and daily practice to get them accustomed to using them but now it’s no problem.
Hope that helps 🐶🐶🐶🥰
Look for a puppy trainer that uses the Ian Dunbar approach. He also has videos that you can buy, and he also is on the learning site udemy.com I'm of the opinion that I want my dogs to bark when there's a stranger approaching the house. If it's a huge problem with your mum, you may have to resort to anti-bark collars. Though to me that's a last resort, and I personally hate them.
You can reduce the barking by reducing the stimulation, so make sure there's no windows they can see out. I haven't done that, my little one likes the stimulation so I let him look out the window.
As for preparation, visit a vet right away. Make a relationship with a clinic and they can help you advise on all sorts of stuff for the puppy. They can also advise on the risk of parvovirus in your area.
Make sure you have a good size crate, teaching dogs that their home and safe spot is a crate is really great, you can put it in your bedroom at night so that they are sleeping with you and know you are there. Especially for a puppy, it's pretty essential. Watch out for chewing, initially you're going to have to keep and eye on them all the time. It may not be a bad idea to get a harness and leash and start conditioning them to wear one, and it helps you keep them out of most mischief.
Potty training wasn't too difficult with ours, we used pee pads and started taking him out every hour, and immediately after meals. Once he was safe from parvovirus (the vet will give them a vaccine if the breeder hasn't) Taking them for regular walks also helps a lot.
I won't kid you, puppies are a lot of work, but I found them fun, and I just adore dogs. Ours didn't really become a lap dog until he was about a year hold, now he's a velcro dog and just loves being near people.
I got it from Amazon, the link is here:
Infrequent baths and a leave in conditioner fixed my girl’s dry skin. Oatmeal shampoos are best for soothing, and whatever doggy conditioner is fine, but don’t just use a 2-in-1. If she gets a poop butt, I use lots of wipes or just run her butt and tail under lukewarm water. I hold her belly up and scoot her under the tap, and have a soapy wash cloth in the other hand
In case your buddy needs a Christmas gift too:
Etna Folding Pet Cot Chair - Portable Round Fold Out Elevated Cat Bed - Water Resistant Paw Print Cushion - Papasan Chair for Small Dogs https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08TL5WGQB/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_8JGXC8S8BGHMWZ1G7F8Q
I found that a step in harness like this one was the best option for my girl. She was very bitey and it looks like you’ve got that too. I put it on the floor, hold her around her shoulders, plop her feet in, and quickly get the Velcro wrapped before I let go of her body. She didn’t get the chance to turn and nip me, I wasn’t choking her so there was no distress, and eventually she grew to associate the harness with positive reinforcement
She was extra tiny, so we didn’t have a choice in using another style at first. It was so quick to get on and protects her neck when she pulls, so I haven’t gone for a different type yet. I used cheap ones from Amazon when she was very very small, but Puppia makes these in cute patterns as well! We walk almost exclusively on a collar instead of harness to avoid pulling but I still prefer this style even when she’s calm
I used these suits on Amaxon and they are a lifesaver, the belly bands were really constricting and I used cheap newborn diapers turned sideways.

I got my little girl in autumn, and my health affects going outside down the stairs, so I trained her to an indoor potty with potty pads under the fake grass for all of her business.
I think the breeder had them accustomed to pads.
Now she will not go outside at all.

Wow that pup went a long time if she slept all night.
We have to get potty break at 11pm and are up ready for play potty and breakfast at 4am with our 12 week old.

Most definitely! On a daily basis I use a tear stain comb which is a small metal (but with blunt ends) that you use to brush away the tear residues. You can find it on Amazon or a pet’s store. Every now and then I will exchange the comb for a cotton pad with saline solution and wipes everything off. (Saline solution was recommended by a vet when Coco was younger.)
I have found this method works great! 2-3 times a week using the saline solution and the comb for most days. The comb is really easy to use, much simpler than cotton pad. But every now and then there are some residues that it cannot remove; whereas using saline daily could also dry the sensitive skin around eyes. So switching is the best way to go at least for Coco!
I like the Gooby brand. It doesn't put any pressure on the trachea either. It didn't seem to cause mats but their hair was very short. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FO0YESY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
