Nope. I actually ended up buying this on Amazon instead. I also found, even with the working probe, that the temperatures sometimes didn't update on the probe part of the app. I'm on Android so that could be the issue. Other than probe issues, super happy with the 1050.
These are the ones I use: Fire Starters BIG PACK 160 Squares Charcoal Starter for Grills, Campfire, Fireplace, Firepits, Smokers. No flare ups & flavor. FireStarter for wood & pellet stove.Waterproof robust squares https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084KK5P7G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_XS35S56NCJ9GH4GH1AJE
But I’m sure there are a lot of others that are good
That's the torch for my Searzall, which does double duty for all my lightin'-shit-on-fire needs - fire pit, fireplace, Weber grill, Masterbuilt. But I was just lighting a fire starter cube.
I'm in Canada and prices can vary wildly compared to the states. Amazon canada has the 560 cover for 85 dollars CAD.

So this isn't the cheapest option for me.
I bought this one from BroilPro on Amazon for my 800. It fits the 560 as well. It's very well made and very thick material. Fits perfectly. Not too tight and not too loose. The bottom can be clipped tight. https://www.amazon.com/BroilPro-Accessories-Waterproof-Masterbuilt-BPA268/dp/B09SZ2PBSS/
I'm currently the only reviewer on Amazon that posted a pic. There were no reviews when I ordered it.
I was a bit off about the price, still half the price of the mod: https://www.amazon.com/GrillPro-92375-Heat-Plate-Black/dp/B000XUETSQ
Here's a video of somebody installing it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CW0MQ-KUwa4
So here's my findings. YMMV
Material: PT1000 Highly Accurate Resistors
Google Search on "PT1000 Highly Accurate Resistors"
lots of entries for resistive, resistor, RTD temperature sensor, etc
So best guess is that it's an RTD 'thermister' style sensor.
What threw me is the fact that the plug on the other end is usually used for thermocouples. but apparently not always.
Anyway, all the usual and conceivable disclaimers apply. ymmv, ianal, ianai, ianawc, nmp, etc
Just get the starters from masterbuilt or a generic brand on Amazon. They’re pretty cheap.
I use these for my battery source. You gotta have enough voltage and watts. Mine is a cheap costco starter battery with usb out. Mine doesn’t provide enough watts for when I open the door over 500 degrees, so the door switch turns off the battery, no big deal, just hit power and power on 1050, good to go again. usb converter
I’ve lost power twice as well using a Halo Battery Backup as a power source HALO Bolt Compact Portable Car Jump Starter - Car Battery Jump Starter with 2 USB Ports to Charger Devices, Portable Car Charger - Black Graphite https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088VSPC5F/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_KW8F13HDAWKQ3GWBA2H5?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1. However when I noticed the power outage I plugged into the wall using an extension cord and all was well after that. I’m going to pay close attention next time when hooked directly to the wall.
Hello fellow UK gravity owner! Good to see another brit in here 😁
Can confirm I've got the exact same cable (link here just in case) and have been powering my gravity series 800 from am Ankr 10,000 mAh battery pack for months with no issues at all.
Only thing is, it does haven't latches on to "lock" in like the official cable does so I've had to tape the 2 ends together but it works perfectly. I just disconnect from my battery pack and then leave this wire coiled up against the control panel with a small bit of garden wire, also helps as then the wire is not then constantly pulling down on the taped connection. Can send a picture of what I've said isn't clear?
I figured it out tonight... I guess I could just delete the post, but I'll leave the fix here in case someone else needs it. I drilled out the rivets on the back and found that there is a "Thermostat Temperature Control Switch" that will shut off the electric current to the element when the temp goes over 150°C. And when it cools down it should reset, but mine didn't. (I confirmed this by bypassing that sensor and everything worked perfectly.

I found where I can buy 5 for $10 on Amazon.
Took me a second to find it but this is the one I have. Fits fine but a tad bit baggy. My only complaint is there's no way to know if it's backwards until you put it all the way on and it doesn't quite fit right. It's still in good shape and I ordered 3/2021.
I buy these, which are usually $12, not sure why they are high right now.

The biggest key to lighting the damned thing in my opinion is to REALLY get in there and shake the grate to get old coal and ash out. I was having a beast of a time getting my 1050 fired up, but after shaking this until the dust stops flying, it's all be much much better. Single light, every time.
Well....assuming I'm smart enough to A) give it 2 minutes to start the coal, and B) Remember to start the damned controller and remove the slides :)
I use the Masterbuilt fire starter squares:

I have not had an issue with them. I hit it with a handheld kitchen torch and have yet to have an issue.
Went through a few through Amazon before finally settling on these, which match the stock probe ambient, in heat, and in a cup of ice water.

I added one of these to the back of mine. It seems to add an hour or 2 to a hopper load with the slide about "half" open. As /u/liquidlouie says, though, the controller in/decreases fan speed to get to/maintain temps.
Pro tip: the controller and fan don't take that much power to run. A battery pack and a USB cable like this keeps you from having to snake an extension cord (if there's not an outlet nearby). I use an inverter attachment for Ryobi 18v batteries. I just finished a 6 hour cook (220 for 2 hours, 275 for 4) and used around 25-30% of the 3ah battery. The rotisserie accessory uses the same power supply, so I just got a 2nd usb cable and the inverter/battery combo run the both with no problems.
This is the link Tom sent me when I asked the same question. I bought it and it fits perfect in my 560. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VG6M228/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o01\_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I struggled with my 1050 for awhile, figured some things out and have gone flawlessly since then.
Shake the hell out of the grate before you put in your fire starter. Some of the ashen coals from before are your bottom layer and wont' light. Get them bastards in the bin.
As everyone has mentioned, pull the slides. Also, wait at least 2 minutes. I Screwed that up and got impatient.
My biggest issue was using homemade fire starters made of eggcrate/wax/lint. Just didn't get a fire that was tall enough. I have since purchased the following from Amazon, and the light great. Big flame, quick light. Just use two squares and I have had zero problems.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B084KK5P7G
Good luck, hope this helps.
Yes you can, but it does not take much. I've got a Ryobi inverter that give me usb ports powered by one of their 18v batteries. It runs the grill for hours and hours. Once I discovered this, I coiled the stock power supply up and haven't used it since.
Of interest, Masterbuilt's rotisserie for the Gravity series runs on exactly the same power supply as the grill. Since my inverter has 2 ports, I got an extra cable (this one). I've not rotisseried anything for more than an hour or two, but it didn't seem to drain the battery that much faster.
I've got an 800, and I use one of these Ryobi 18v inverters and once of these cables.
I used it for the initial burn-in, and uncounted cooks since then. Ran some shorties for around 8 hours at 225 just recently, and it used around 3/4 of a 3ah battery charge.
What really surprised me, though, is that the rotisserie uses the exact same power supply as the grill itself. After a quick test, I ordered a 2nd cable, and have had no problems powering both the grill and the rotisserie.
I can't remember the last time I actually plugged Marley (Smoker? Get it? Maybe I should name it "Bob" so it's not misconstrued as a Dickens reference) into the mains.
What are you using for kindling/fuel? I find that thin firestarter blocks work the best for me. Something like this, about 4 squares. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B084KK5P7G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_dl_KJKR9EMXTQXZ7BNVGBZZ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
And I leave it burning for a while, don't close the door immediately, but wait for the charcoal to get started. You need to have adequate heat and fire going before closing the door and letting the temp run up. Once I didn't keep it on for long enough and the charcoal never caught on. Went up to 135, then dropped. Basically had to restart.
I will look into it thanks!
Edit: this what you’re referring to?
