No ETA in the last update: https://mycroft.ai/blog/mark-ii-manufacturing-and-product-update-may-2021/
If you've been following for a while, they had a big falling out with their original manufacturer and had to go back to the drawing board. A complete redesign is underway. Dev kits have shipped, but no production details yet. (unless someone from Mycroft can correct me)
Hi Spiral,
One of the limitations is that sudo is required for many functions, if you opt to require a password for sudo during setup then you need to manually enter this on each boot.
I have added some additional text to warn of this during the setup wizard though not sure if it's made it into production yet.
It's also worth noting that the community identified a number of fixes for AIY and a new stable image was released over the weekend to incorporate these (amongst other things). So it is probably worth grabbing the latest image dated 2019-07-20.
Hi there,
If you have not received a response to an email, I certainly want to track that down and ensure you get a reply. I'll send you a PM to get more details.
In terms of the Mark II, we are open and honest about the challenges we have faced in its development, and what our steps are going forward. Every day the Mycroft Team and the broader Community make progress on both the hardware and software and we will continue to publish details on these improvements.
Big announcements will be posted here, but I don't want to spam the sub with every blog post, so if you want to keep track of all progress updates, please subscribe to our newsletter at the bottom of mycroft.ai.
I know it can be frustrating, though I assure you the team are working tirelessly to get the Mark II refined, produced and into your hands. Thanks to all our Backers and Community members for being a part of this journey with us.
Hey @universaljester, have an answer for you on this one, sorry it took a couple of days to come back to you.
The keyserver issue is from a really old version of Picroft, so our advice is to download the latest image from https://mycroft.ai/to/picroft-image and burn that to your SD card using Etcher.
but there is a nasty bug in the current Picroft, 0.9.10, which causes processes to hang and overheats the RPi. Hold off until 0.9.11, which should drop in the next 24-36 hours.
Best, Kathy
Actually, there's great news on that front... we've just set the shipping date and officially launched pre-orders!
Michael has written a post about the timing of this that I think is worth a read: https://mycroft.ai/blog/pre-order-your-mark-ii-shipping-starts-19th-sept-2022/
or you can find the Mark II directly in our online store here: https://mycroft.ai/product/mark-ii/
Like others said, the the Mk II itself should be rather cheaper than the dev kit (due to economies of scale, plus the dev kits helped raise some interim funds). However it is worth looking at what the dev kit itself, includes, and that will help you with your build.
1x Raspberry Pi 4 2GB 1x Mycroft Audio Pi Hat (SJ201) 2x Tymphany Peerless speaker drivers 1x Acoustic audio chamber 1x 4.3” LCD display 1x DSI display cable 1x 5MP camera module 3x Heat sinks 1x 40mm speed-controlled fan 1x Laser cut enclosure 1x Power supply (international plugs included) 1x 16GB USB flash drive All screws, nuts, threaded inserts
I tried that as well as a couple of things suggested to me on the Mycroft.ai community forums but still no success.
Here's a link to what I tried and the outputs.
apt install xxhash-dev returned a unable to locate package error.

for home automation i think home assistant skill comes close to your needs but may not entirely depending on your requirements (this would mean you need to switch to hass)
Hey there, I've been hearing this arising from the previous image however the new 2020-01-10 image seems to have resolved this.
Theoretically the previous image should be equivalent once it's updated however something is causing an issue even after a complete update and reboot and I haven't yet been able to pin point it.
So short answer is to use the new https://mycroft.ai/to/picroft-image while we investigate further.
Yep, our Picroft image is now based on Debian Stretch so fully compatible with the 3B+.
and as luther84 said, best to use our stable image which you can find at https://mycroft.ai/to/picroft-image
The previous image was based on Debian Jessie so many people did what comes naturally to the hacker/maker mindset and gave it a go anyway! This is one of the things I love about the Mycroft community, but there were varying levels of success...
Latest update on the product development is on their Kickstarter page. The gist is they are late, they know they're late, and they're working as hard as they can to deliver a high quality product as soon as they can.
>Our team was pushing pretty hard to get the Mark II out in December and, clearly, that didn’t happen.

>Until we have a crystal clear idea of that timeline, we will not be speculating anymore. We know that this is one of the biggest reasons you are reading this, but in the end, the number one goal is quality.
You can still pre-order it but don't expect it to ship any time soon. The website currently says Q1 2019 but based on their latest update I'm guessing Q2 2019 at the earliest. As someone who backed this campaign I'm will to be patient if it results in a quality open-source product that I'll use for years to come.
There are some very brief instructions at; https://mycroft.ai/documentation/android/
The short answer to your other question is "I don't know" - Mycroft for Android is a community led project - it might be worth asking in the Android chat channel at: https://chat.mycroft.ai/community/channels/android
Hi there Berowulf, sorry to hear the Time Skill is giving you trouble. Are you able to let me know some specifics so I can do some more in depth diagnostics?
What is your timezone set to on home.mycroft.ai?
(Your web_config_cache.json
would be super helpful here as we're tracking a couple of location-not-updating-properly-from-the-home.mycroft.ai-frontend bugs)
https://mycroft.ai/documentation/mycroft-conf/#a-look-at-the-inside-of-web_config_cache-json
When you say it's not working, how much of a difference is there between the actual time and time that Mycroft is reporting?
Hey there youngpancakeflipper, apologies for the frustration here. With the next release - 18.2.6b - we're branching the Skills to a particular version. The way that voice installation works at the moment is that when you say Install skill name
it looks in the .gitmodules
file of the mycroft-skills
repo for that Skill. Last week we changed the default branch of mycroft-skills
to 18.02
instead of master
, and there aren't as many Skills in the 18.02
branch, so voice install will be failing. We're in the process of bringing them all across.

Sounds like Zapier might be the way to get started, but I noticed that Echo, Siri, and G Home are all on IFTTT but not Zapier. Maybe there's a reason for that.
I have no dev experience, but does Mycroft have a REST or XML-RPC based API? It looks like that's the basic requirements.
If that's all good, then maybe we could crowdsource funds to get a Trusted App Dev team from Zapier on the case. If the supporters of the Mark I, II, and III Kickstarter campaigns are happy then maybe they can help pay the devs?
