TransferWise is an international transfer company. I think they're just called wise now, wise.com
You can used them to send from your NZ account to their NZ account and they'll transfer from their USD account into the CS USD account.
Much quicker method of international remittance.
I'm awaiting the snail mail but I plan on using my wise.com (formerly transferwise) "multi currency account" to set up a US bank account in Computershare and buy through that if I ever have enough money again to buy more shares (fuck auckland rent, fuck nz price of food).
I think you can just use your NZ bank account too once you've set up the foreign currency account in CS? would be more fees and worse exchange rates tho I'd imagine. have a hunt around the subs tho the info is definitely out there for us foreigners direct purchasing
Nah, this is just for if you ever sell any shares. CS will wire transfer the money to your nominated bank account.
To buy shares, I recommend setting up a Wise.com account. Once set up, it's a piece of piss. Can provide further details if required.
I think the initial idea was to use the USD foreign account to wire funds to CS for buying GME directly but you can do this via your normal NZD account (just select USD as the option when doing international wire transfer) or if you want an even easier & faster option, do it via Wise.com. I've used this method a few times and had no issues.
Yeah, unfortunately.
Currently it looks like DriveWealth or Hatch cannot keep up with the transfers, so you could be looking at a long wait.
I would suggest selling 10% of your shares, buying on Hatch and initiating DRS.
Then when CS account is up, you can sell your shares, get cash in NZ bank account and buy direct from CS via international bank transfer (or I'd recommend wise.com)
You only need one share to open CS.
