Yes! These are what I got. They are a game changer. You just soak the pads in acetone and clip them on and go about your day.
Beetles brand is sold on Amazon & is a trusted brand. I have some of their gel polishes & I like them. They have many kits like the one in your post, which aren't much more expensive. Like This Kit for $40. It comes with a higher wattage lamp too. That's just one of their kits, they have lots of starter kits to choose from. Each kit has at least a couple of different polish color options.
I know you weren't asking me, but get a weekly nail routine, a glass file, and use oil!
I just use kitchen olive oil that I put in an old nail polish bottle after cleaning it with acetone. It's so fast to oil your nails just 2x a day. (Though it's a good habit to do it even more!)
A glass file makes a huge difference when it comes to peeling nail edges. You want to make sure, however, that you get a glass file that dips into the etching as opposed to having a raised etching. This set is very nice, and also quite affordable.
It can take a few months with a weekly routine to build your nail strength, then a few more months to get the length you want.
I hope this helps.
i use a regular nail file to remove / round off the bulk of the edges and then working from the outer edges to the center of the nail with a glass file (they’re less abrasive so i feel like i have better control)
it also takes quite a bit of looking at them from a distance to see if they’re even and trying to figure out what needs additional filing to even them out 😅
They look great!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you want to you can try using liquid latex around your cuticle to make clean up easier.
(like feeling out where your nail-bed meets the skin and applying the latex in that area. If you get some on the nail bed its super easy to push back or take off)
They also have these nail stickers that you can wrap around your nail to collect excess polish, theyre flexible so you can feel around your free edge and tuck them into the sides of your nailbed. You could use another one to wrap around your cuticle to get a perfect shape.
Thanks! It's a 6 piece magnetic gel set from born pretty, I got it here!
This is so sweet! My local salon has this lamp, and it has good reviews on Amazon so it seems promising. I don't have any experience with builder gel, but there's a YouTube channel called Nail Career Education run by an experienced nail tech/salon owner and I think she did a video once on gels. You might find some recommendations there?
For gel polish (also known as shellac), friend of mine just bought some CND Shellac polish and it looks great. Beyond Polish has sets of CND base coat, top coat, and color for $40, and you can buy additional colors separately if she has a particular color of polish that she likes!

First I'd get a idea on what shape you'd like, shorter nails may slightly limit what you can have done shape wise but that's not a big deal. Second I'd turn to google and search things like 'black nail ideas' 'black nail inspiration' have a look around, find pictures you like and save them. You may fall in love with one in particular or you may like a few. When you go in for your appointment explain you're new and unsure but you've got some photos of some manicures you like. Any half decent nail tech will be happy to have a look and discuss what you can do. Don't be shy, it's their job and they won't be offended or put out. Lastly yes call them, even if it turns out they're happy to do walk ins (probably not if a small place with few staff) it never hurts to make a quick call to ask out of courtesy. Enjoy your first manicure! :)
This one is fairly sheer at one coat, but 2-3 and it is the most perfect nude. (Memeda Nude 3 for anyone who doesn't feel like clicking)
I'm so sorry, seeing that picture made me cry. 😢
You can superglue silk and or fiberglass to your nails to protect it until it grows out.
I use this on my nails, and it makes them practically bulletproof as long as there's a decent Apex. And my nails are over 2 in long.
I've also used hard gel to protect nails that have been broken.
Sally's has those Supernail Swiss Silk Wrap Self-Adhesive Tabs, and you can use nail glue, or any medium CA glue from a hobby store. Once you do this, acetone is the only way you'll be able to remove the glue and the silk. My nails have been encased in silk and super glue for over 2 years now.
Yes! They’re the Gellen brand from Amazon, the colors are from this set and they are colors 099, 126, 101, 122, 133
I like to use a thin liner brush to make a guideline following my natural smile line then go in with a small flat square brush to get up against that line nice and tight. It really helps to keep another brush handy for clean up. I used this brush set from Amazon to do a recent French tip.

Will take about 6 moths to grow out. I'd keep the free edge trimmed off and wear a polish with no nail hardner in it. Orly breathable has some nice neutral polishes https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M98ZX59/ref=cm_sw_r_u_apa_glt_fabc_3RD60D8NXQZM5TFRF9TJ. I'd also start taking biotin so your nails will grow quicker. Use jojoba oil a lot that will help with healing. I'm so sorry this happened to you. Hugs
If you have a 100/180 grit file, or better yet an efile with these, you can file them down and soak them off with acetone for 10-15 mins and gently scrape it off with a cuticle pusher or a orange wood stick

Yeah I hear you there lol. I recently started doing it by putting the oil in these empty applicator pens https://www.amazon.com/Applicator-Whitening-Makeup-Cuticle-Transparent/dp/B07QXJWLVN/

There is a type of nail polish that you can buy that is specifically to aid in stopping nail biting! You put a coat on your nails and when you find yourself biting your nail you will be met with a horridly bitter taste! It is kind of interesting conditioning approach to stopping the habit :). Here is one that has good reviews on amazon: Mavala Stop Nail Biting
There’s a bunch of cheap ones on amazon. I just ordered this one for myself cause it seemed like a good value but I’m a complete noob sooo 🤷🏻♀️

So from what I've read, a good number of people have issues with this OPI product (dullness, lifting around the edges, discoloration). I would scrap it and get any other top coat. If you can get to Sallys, it's an easy place to get other brands. Gelish is a top fav but it's costly. ASP is a good basic brand. Or go to the asian neighborhoods to look in the nail supply stores: tons of options but some may require you to be a nail tech (tho they usually don't check)
Or you could order a no wipe top coat from amazon, I've used this one for the past year or so. I haven't had any issues with it so far
please please please don't take this lift / rip advice, you're going to take so much of your natural nail with the peeling, your nails will be so so thin after this. Please either do the acetone soak off method or use Magic Remover, you can find it on amazon. After you file the glossy layer off, put magic remove on and then let it sit for 10 minutes. Use a dull cuticle pusher to remove as much as you can without forcing any off. Forcing will take a layer of your nail with it. If it's not all of after the fist magic remover coat, repeat the process one or two times. I do my own gel polish and love the magic remover, I wont go back to the acetone soak that dries my cuticles so bad.

thin gel polish layer!! that used to happen to me so I know what you are talking about. I currently own this led lamp, it gets the job done for me. I do suggest to find a bigger and better one! I am using beetles gel polish but trust me it is not your gel polish that is failing you , you are just adding a little too much! Hope this helps!!
I just today got this set from Amazon. Set of 500 short square full cover nails for $7. I'm sure if you search Amazon for something like "oval short full cover nail", you can find something similar. I was concerned these would be too long; I prefer a pretty short nail. But I was very happy with the length. I hate shaping nails too!! I took a quick photo with one of the nails to show the length; they looked longer in some of the photos - https://imgur.com/gallery/1TljeBS
I am not a nail expert. I've seen some ads about nail fixers and stuff like that. Here, an amazon link:https://www.amazon.com/Eveline-Cosmetics-Intensive-Treatment-Conditioner/dp/B00B84OJ54 It may help you. If not, I'd recommend going to a nail technician and ask him/her for a nail treatment, they have to know something that might work for you

Oh no- I haven’t tried another local salon since probably 5 years ago and I wasn’t impressed. I hear people have good luck with the Instagram search thing but I haven’t tried it myself…
If you have any interest at all and end up giving up on the salon plan, you should definitely try gel. I hate sitting and waiting for regular nail polish to dry, but with gel, you can mess with it as long as you want and then it cures under the light whenever you’re ready in about 30-60s. Modelones, Makartt, and Beetles are all pretty decent and inexpensive brands on Amazon. You’ll also want rubbing alcohol for cleaning up any mistakes and wiping off the tacky layer of some top coats and 100% acetone for removal. I have and adore this lamp: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RR1RT4B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_AE75SG1R00WZGMFZSGZ5
Whatever you go with, I hope you find something that works well for you!
Awesome I’ve been looking at that one! And it’s a lightning deal right now!
This is my dust collector thing
A lot of people like the SUN UV brand on Amazon. The cave shaped lamps tend to give a more even cure. This one is fairly cheap, and they often go on sale.
Note that it's almost always better to paint/cure the thumbs separately because of the way they're positioned in the lamp. So do the four fingers, then cure. Then paint the thumb and cure it with the thumb flat on the table.
Almost all gel polishes cure with a "sticky layer" but once you put a no-wipe top coat and cure, it should be good to go. Thin layers are important with gel to make sure they cure well.
Peeling is almost always because of the prep work. I highly recommend videos from The Nail Hub on YouTube for in-depth info on using gels.
I personally like the Beetles brand of polish on Amazon. They often go on sale.
Are Fiberglass nail wraps safe?
All nail enhancements present the risk of damaging and weakening your natural nail — fiberglass included. But when done correctly, Hinckson says it's totally safe. "Unlike other methods, there is very little aggravation to the nail plate when using fiberglass since only the fabric and resin are used," she says.

Makartt nails are my favorite I've came across and the most quality ones I've tried. The natural (not clear) ones are more durable, but still the Makartt clear are the most sturdy clear ones I've found. They're on Amazon. I've never posted a link before so hopefully it works. Here

I have this set and use the smallest one for cleanup, and the second smallest one for polish.
I would recommend getting a kit, also I suggest trying polygel instead of acrylic. Polygel is softer than acrylic so it files easier and you don't necessarily need a drill. It also will stay malleable until you cure it under a lamp so you have plenty of time to adjust the shape. In my experience it lasts just about as long as acrylics do on my nails.
This kit has everything you need to get started with your own nails. It also comes with dual forms which makes getting the shape nice and even on each nail super easy.
Also, I love watching longhairprettynails on YouTube. She has so many videos and walks you through the whole process.
I hope this helps!
I second nail oil! Jojoba is great and affordable on Amazon. The Now brand is great. Also, Sally Hansen cuticle remover and either a metal or wood cuticle pusher (wood is probs safer for beginners) works wonders.
Here is a link to Simply Nailogical's YouTube video on nail care. I highly recommend watching it.
Gorgeous! My cuticle area always looks like crap with dip-this is perfect

Thank you! It’s one of those magnetic “cat eye” polishes. Super easy to use once you get the hang of the magnet itself. Here’s the link to the set I have. I have #16 on in this set.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZRVZGP7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_YaM3FbEKJGP15 I use these brushes, I find that if I dab off the one side after dipping in alcohol the gel still sticks to the brush when I try to move it into place, and at first I used thicker beads to start off but because of how wet it gets, the gel would get everywhere so I started doing multiple, thinner layers. I'm self teaching my self as well, taking advice from reddit and other sources of the internet. Just trying to figure out how to make this whole process easier for me.
You totally make sense. Thank you for the detailed explanation !!!
>Galaxy Star Nail Art Glue
So I looked it up and there's weirdly different brands that comes up. The Amazon choice is the brand (warm girl (never heard of it lol) and has fairly good reviews. But you need to cure it, then apply the foil, top coat. Like regular gel polish. So ill try to apply on the sticky layer(when I finally receive them) And if it doesn't work well, got Amazon prime and can get the glue the next day XD. Is this one the one you are talking about ?
Omg picking at my cuticles has been one of the hardest habits to get rid of! It gets to the point where I don't even really notice that I'm picking at them especially when my anxiety starts to overwhelm me. I'll only realize it once it hurts and that's usually when I need to find a clipper or bandaid STAT.
I truly appreciate how in depth you were with your comment. I never really knew exactly how to take care of them. I'm realizing that I don't moisturize my hands enough and I definitely only took care of my cuticles once every few weeks when I'd redo my nails. I should taking care of them daily!
I just found a bottle of the Sally Hansen Cuticle Remover the other week but still haven't used it yet. I shall definitely try it ASAP! I also bought this bottle of Cuccio Naturale oil and so far I really love it but I probably don't use it as much as I should. I added the glass cuticle pusher you recommended to my cart for my next purchase. I didn't even know that existed!
Do you ever do any hand soaks? Or does moisturizing and applying oil consistently been good enough? I wasn't sure if I should try doing something like that or not. I feel so lost about all this sometimes and also feel a bit stupid that these should probably be things that I already know how to do..
Thank you!!
The base color is the Beetles Jelly Gilitter Gel Nail Polish Set & silver cat eye polish!
I did clear polygel to extend the nail, two coats of the jelly polish & one coat of cat eye, using the magnet on the edges to get the effect!
Thank you! It’s actually chrome powder with a matte top coat. :) Here’s the chrome powder but I think several brands make a similar color: Beetles Chrome Nail Powder Mirror Effect Holographic Aurora Iridescent Pearlescent Manicure Art Decoration Glitter, 8 Colors 1g or 0.5g/Jar https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RQ8HY5X/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_PLIPFbESG1PC2
Ridge filler. It’s basically base coat that will fill that in while you’re wearing it. I think it’s only available in regular nail polish. OPI has a good one if I remember right.
OPI Nail Lacquer Treatment https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ITW68AC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_fcJMFbN31H85F
First things first - you've got to hydrate those puppies. Take a small bowl and heat up a tablespoon of coconut oil in the microwave. You can add a number of different oils to it; I use jojoba and olive oil. Add a couple drops of rosemary essential oil to it. When the oil cools down, soak your nails in the mixture. As you're soaking your nails, massage each one in circular motions, for about a minute. Do this 3x a week.
Drink plenty of water.
Invest in a good hair, skin and nails supplement. I like biotin and evening primrose oil. I started taking evening primrose oil a month ago, and I already have half an inch of growth on each of my nails.
Use a clear, nurturing nail polish - I really love Sally Hansen's Complete Care, 7-1. You can buy it at most drugstores or here, on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Sally-Hansen-Complete-Moisturizing-Strength/dp/B00392HBQC
Use this treatment once a week. It will keep your nails shiny and make you less prone to biting them.
Good luck! I'm a recovering compulsive nail-biter as well.
Wow. So I’m not the only one with that issue then!!! That’s the most frustrating thing ever, I have the same one. But someone recommended this one to me, I haven’t gotten it yet but it has good reviews amazon -Drill
I couldn't find the exact same one I got, as it's not on amazon anymore, but I did find this.

That’s okay!! I’ll link it here so it’s even easier for you to find :)
I use a homemade nail oil (jojoba, vitamin E gel, & a tiny bit of scent oil) a few times a day. When I'm ready to change polish I remove it (duh) then apply oil to remove my cuticles if I need to with a tool like this. Then I wash my hands really well to remove the oil. File if needed with this glass file. I use Pink Armor Nail Gel as a base, then apply 2 or 3 coats of whatever polish I'm using, then a top coat of Pink Armor again. The next day I apply another coat of the Pink Armor.
I am usually against infomercial "seen on TV" products, but I bought the Pink Armor stuff not knowing it was one of those. I actually really like it. My nails were really thin and bendy and the Pink Armor stuff has seemed to help without making them brittle. It definitely is not some magic solution that will allow you to rake your nails through gravel or anything like it shows on the ad, but it is the best base/top coat I've used so far, and it dries pretty quickly.
Thanks! The blue is vishine from amazon. Super easy to get and great quality. Here’s the link! I used the darkest blue. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NC3X5QJ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

No bother at all and thank you! I got everything on amazon. The polish is from this set, the golds are from this set, and the full coverage tips are from amazon too. There’s plenty of shapes and sizes to choose from. I even got the little nail stands on amazon!
I hope you have as much fun making them as I did!
A good, cheap gel brand is Gellen. You can buy it on amazon or on their website and they have a nice variety of colors! All you need is the gel base coat, gel top coat (they usually come together), whatever gel color you want to use, and a UV/LED light! Here is a link to an inexpensive light
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G31SQZ7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Ky4wFbJ0QP3T1
To take them off safely, you’ll need pure acetone, a nail file/buffer, and a bowl or nail wraps to soak them off. Buff or file the polish gently to remove all of the shine. Soak them for 10-20 minutes or until all the polish is softened enough to gently scrape off. Be careful not to force the polish off or it will peel your nails! Once the polish is removed, apply cuticle oil/lotion and allow your nails to “breath” for a few minutes-hours :)
Gellen gel polishes work pretty well! They’re a great price and have plenty of gorgeous colors. You can buy them off amazon or on their website. Here’s a link to a great, cheap LED light as well :)

Actually am really happy with it!
I bought a cheap one off amazon I’m not gonna lie to you,
I am super clumsy so I use this thing. Get a cotton with acetone and don't have to touch it at all.
I actually bought an inexpensive kit at Walmart for around $20-$30 because I figured, "why not??" It's called Seren-Dip-ity and it comes with 3 colors, the bonder, activator, top coat and a filing cube thing. I have found it to be a great kit, especially as a complete beginner! I also use my own makeup brushes to dust my nails between dips like they do in a salon. On average my nails from this kit have lasted around 3 weeks, so I've been very happy! I also do about 3 cycles of dips per nail, whereas I think the instructions on the box only specify one dip I think. Good luck!
Edit- here is the link for it on Amazon, but it's more expensive online I think and the kit from Walmart had a neutral color so I can paint over it with colors and then add top coat.

I had something similar happen with one of my toenails and am using nail glue to keep it together until it grows out. I bought this one because it has antifungal properties but idk if it really matters. So far I've had to apply it every 4-7 days or so as the bond lessens.
Hi, you replied to my question on another thread and seem to really know what you’re doing so I hope it’s okay if I ask two questions:
Would you say then that this lamp is bad and can result in contact dermatitis? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dryer-Polish-Machine-Curing-Auto-sensing/dp/B07FYXQ2MH/ref=asc_df_B07FYXQ2MH/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=310694524316&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11964762735712089865&hvpone=&hvptwo=&h...
I’ve got all my products from semilac and use this lamp. I only do it for myself and have no gloves. Would you say that’s unsafe even if I don’t share my products with anyone else?
Thanks in advance

This is the link on Amazon to order! Had to share. They look so natural!
Dont be lazy and search for similar shades in your local nail supplies eshops. Just google gel polish green or khaki and it will show you options to choose. Most of brands have something similar.

Here's a link to the powder I used: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B09WHPPZ9K/
It's a set of 4, but I chose the white one here. I swatched the others (white with pink, green, and blue sheens) on my hand quickly before deciding which one to use, and they are GORGEOUS, so I'm going to get good use out of this set for sure!
This is my routine: 1. Lightly buff nails and brush off with fluffy brush rather than wipe off with alcohol 2. Primer from candy coat 2. Foundation gel from Beatles (this makes a huge difference for me) 3. I use builder gel from mylee as my nail glue. It doesn't bubble under the nail and I find it easy to get the application right with this. 4. If any gel spills over the sides I don't swipe an alcohol dipped brush around the edge like most videos tell you to, I take it off and wipe the gel off my nail and the fake nail and I do it again. I find trying to fix the gel seeping out of the edge makes them lift faster. 5. A layer of builder gel over the top of the nails before I use gel colour. 6. Same topcoat brand as my Foundation gel. I've heard this helps to use the same brand but idk.

The products I used.
Trend it up, Ridgefiller Use the three of it, it’s really worth it and it’s so cheap too and all of them can be used as a base coat.
Essence, the final rose nail polish with some stripes for the French.
The flowers I got from Amazon, link is here: https://www.amazon.de/Five-Leaf-Ornaments-Gemstones-Rhinestone-Decorations/dp/B09X16356F/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?crid=12Q7X37OX3A17&keywords=nagelsteine&qid=1656248285&sprefix=nail+steine%2Caps%2C90&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5j...
Don’t hate me but I forget to order rhinestone glue, so I used my handcraft glue… it worked!
Top Coat is also from Essence, called ultra quick dry.
I tried using clear full cover tips from Amazon before but I guess they were too flat and they kept popping off. I’m interested in the Beetles nail kit since I heard they’re quite curved but I’d like to know if they’d be too curved for mine or not curved enough. If you have the kit and you have a similar c curve to mine please let me know.
These were the tips I got btw
It's a multi chrome powder I found on amazon applied over a black gel polish.
If you get clear full cover tips (use that phrasing and search Amazon, there’s gobs of different ones) you can use a gel base and UV lamp to attach them, and they will stay just like gel extensions. That’s a good way to get started. Use the gel base as the “glue”. Remember, prep is everything though. Prep your cuticles and buff the shine off your nails, then use isopropyl alcohol to wipe and make sure there’s no oils left on your natural nail. A primer will help the product stay longer, but if you plan to change them more often than every few weeks, I don’t recommend using it.
If you want to use regular polish on the tips, you can. Or you can use gel polish. I like gel for designs because it dries when you put it under the lamp, and so it’s much more forgiving.
Here’s some of my favorite products to get you started:
Youtube is your bestie! Emily Susannah and Nail Mastery by Tatyana are two of my favorites.
Good luck and have fun!
Have you tried using a dehydrator and primer before the base?

and the nails (I got medium almond and filed them down as I like shorter nails)
The price has apparently gone up a little in the last couple weeks, but it’s still $20 before taxes instead of $50!! 🫠
I love these! I might steal this design from you. I saw your comment about struggling to file down length and shape at the same time, I recommend one of these to make it easier :)

Thank you! I used a nail sponge like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09W2CMFFS/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_FGFARKM5WR8FYAB0RYMA?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
These are some of the same colors I used for the other hand, which are pretty sheer, so first I patted down a white gel to create a halo over the blue with that sponge, then the pink gel on top and the orange on top of that. You want to dab the sponge on a palette first to get the excess off. This was my first time doing this "aura" effect. I think in the future a better idea would be to try more opaque gels so they can layer easier/have more contrast
I've also seen people use pigments and eyeshadows, which look like they work even better (very airbrushed)
I'll be trying this again with my neon pigments closer to summer!
