Iran: A Beginner’s Guide is my go-to! Very broad-spanning overview of Iran’s socio-political history, yet also intimately detailed where it needs to be. And it’s a very portable, accessible, easy read as well!
I setup one of the Signal proxies from that github repo in that article you linked. Appears to be working. I'll message the host name to the mods so it's not public. Do you need ExpressVPN accounts, if I can secure a few of those?
Hey you misunderstand me, I never told you that you or other destroy Iran, wtf man?!?!
I just need you to give me a technical example of a risk, without shouting all mighty "There is a risk" without evidence.
If i host the server from home on my Linux machine that i do today, I control it, nobody else does. They only layman terms you have provided are packages and luggage, And i've repeatedly pointed out that its not the case, In the airport/post you can open the package, you can't do this when the package is encrypted. Your layman terms does not apply because of End-To-End Encryption for sensitive information that all services use today.
Tell me the technical risk, Your lack of knowledge causes this kind of paranoia and hurts us that are trying to provide free communication to Iranians.
I dont care what people are using my VPN for, political or not, I´m in a country with good privacy laws and freedom of speech.
I only care about giving them free access, Does Mullvad/NordVPN/ExpressVPN care about customers political views? it makes no sense. Does Snowflake/Tor care about users political views? Even if they are IRGC? Do you think Tor/Snowflake can block IRGC members from accessing it? how is that any different from other VPN's?
VPN's are faster than any Tor/Snowflake.
And I'm not angry, trying to educate this community about this kind of paranoia that does not make sense from a technical perspective since many of you don't seem to understand how internet encryption works today.
That´s all I'm trying to do.
Fortunately I found one translation from Iraj Mirza works, you must understand his works are banned in Iran due to controversial subjects but you can try this
https://www.amazon.com/Love-Me-More-Than-Others/dp/0893049271
and if possible bump caps for head protection, or i suppose whatever is available
IRGC don't need other peoples VPN to spread propaganda, They already have unfiltered Internet and/or have free access to commercial VPN's like Mullvad/ExpressVPN e.t.c
Like Arvancloud.
I agree somewhat on your last statement that you may give VPN to friends and family. But if the user that gives VPN access lives in a free country it should not be a problem in terms of the law in that free country.
Can you give me an example of why its not a good idea? you say its generally not a good idea, why?
Personally I'm a fan of Abbas Milani's The Shah as a really interesting biography that tries its best to stay impartial and gets into the nitty gritty and the sources.
It's a bit hard for me to recommend a reading list though given how fast the situation evolves and it's a life and death type of matter.
That doesn't seem quite accurate. Americans were certainly friendly toward Iran, even if you write off the alliance with the shah as purely self-serving.
I found this book a pretty great overview of the relationship between the two countries.

I didn't mean they actually bought it on Amazon, it just meant how easily anyone can buy it.
You can also simply install Orbot to run a snowflake on your mobile, that should be the easiest option for your phone:
You would have just to go to the settings, scroll all the way down and enable "Run Snowflake Proxy".
After you connected, you should always when you have helped someone circumvent censorship.
I myself have had that running for a couple of days now and it is really satisfying to get those notifications.
If you open up in your browser and leave it open it should also work, I believe, but the app would be much more comfortable for you and you would be able to use your mobile just as you normally would and it would still work.
I hope that helps!
You should find many options in the NewIran tech thread.
Can you confirm, that ProtonVPN stopped working today? If so I will add that to the list.
Mullvad VPN f.e. supports many payment options, f.e. also crypto.
I am not sure whether it is still working though.
For the moment I would advise to setup Tor with a private bridge. You can find the information necessary for that in the tech thread.
WE-PN report in Google Docs says:
WE-PN describes itself as "a group of technologists and online activists."

For writing I use this app, یو have to create your own layout, if you want I can send you a screen of how my keyboard looks like. Unfortunately I've made it by myself and so there is no manual online or other things like that. And at the moment I only use this keyboard on my phone. If you want I can give you all the UNICODES you need!
