Honestly, you're probably right. That's the scary thing. Trump began ticking boxes before he even got into office. Let's go down the wikipedia checklist of Fascist tenants.
" Ultranationalism combined with the myth of national rebirth is a key foundation of fascism" - Roger Griffin
That was essentially the key theme of his platform. America first. Once he's in charge, everything is going to start getting better. Most presidents claim that they will make things better, but Trump was unique in framing our decline as the fault of "the other" (mexicans, islam, china, socialists). It's all about stoking fires of national pride by deriding anything outside of that.
Similarly, he embodied a totalitarian ideology by claiming any negative press of his as fake news. It's a textbook fascist idea to try and invalidate any opposing viewpoint. Even recently, conservatives more broadly have been increasingly totalitarian, ie Alabama's abortion law. The idea that the government can tell you directly what you can and can't do with your own body while spinning it to ignore the huge overreach into people's private lives
" Fascism emphasizes direct action, including supporting the legitimacy of political violence, as a core part of its politics. "
Remember when Donald Trump told people at his rally that he would pay their bail if they were arrested for assaulting protestors?
Trump has not only doubled down on the Nationalism which allowed China to make serious allies and become a huge global power. Same with Russia. He's so concerned with his jerking off of hardcore nationalists, that he refuses to see that the US is alienating allies and losing status abroad.

It's probably true though that we're going to get another four years, but it's pretty obvious that Trump is far from a bastion of democratic freedom.

If American Democracy does die, it will be because clowns like this guy minimized the threat, based on what? Hope? The fact that if didn’t work last time? He should read this book that came out a few weeks ago.
According to actual political scientists, we’ve already slipped into the category between democracy and autocracy.
According to actual political scientists, the closest matches to the American GOP are Poland’s far right Law & Justice party and Erdogan’s far right party in Turkey.
According to actual political scientists, our far right movement consider themselves “sons of the soil”, and those types won’t just wake up one day and accept the changing demographics. If they can’t win by cheating, they will take up arms.

You want me to trace back the history of the US' wars in the Middle East for the last 70 years? A good place to start was the Iranian coup of 1953 which was orchestrated by the US (under the codename Operation Ajax).
If you want to learn more about the history of the US overthrowing governments in the Middle East and around the world I recommend Overthrow by New York Times correspondent Stephen Kinzer, it goes all the way from the overthrow of the Kingdom of Hawaii in 1893 to present day Iraq.
>like mental deficiencies, disorders, and general stupidity,
Except that, since they they weren't the most knowledgeble humans in the whole world, they didn't have as nuanced an understanding as cognition as we did. Someone with an IQ that would qualify them as developmentally disabled today would have been considered stupid, or retarded at the time. You can't just conflate terms we use now and the way they were used at the time. I also bloody well said "people so repugnant and useless in everyday life that they should be put to death". Now, the fact that you decided to interpret that in such a way as to occlude mental retardation sounds like a personal problem. I even specifically invoked one of the seminal pieces on this subject by name in a previous comment. You know.. the one specifically about sterilizing the retarded? Are you kidding me?
Nah, it's cool.. You don't need to respond with any further points made for "clarity" We're good. Bye.
The image listed on the ad here is identical to the cover of the comic I'm talking about...but I'm no expert in comics so I couldn't tell you for certain whether that ad is accurate or not.
This is an ad for the same comic on amazon that lists it as a 1984 comic.
The cover that amazon uses is different...but the customer reviews seem to indicate that it is indeed the same comic. So all I can tell you is if that 1977 edition isn't the one that has the panel I posted then look for one specified as a 1984 edition.
