Is he still pretty young? My orange (6 mo) is a Velcro needy boy and I’m hoping he will chill out a little after he’s spayed.
We also got him an automatic toy, it’s like a thick disk with a wand that rotates… I’ll try to find a link to something similar. Of course he won’t play with it long if a human isn’t in the same room but at least I can do other things for a bit and keep him occupied.
Edit: this isn’t the exact toy but there are lots of options out there
Sorry! Thought I had included the link. Here it is:

My three year old boy is the same-- I swear he has opposable thumbs. He's learned to open doors, unzip bags, rip up duct tape (keeping automatic feeders down), you name it. At one point he started EATING our rugs-- the only thing that has helped is a slow feeder, and it has helped SO much. He's calmer all the time now that he has a regular afternoon "project" to work on an hour a day. Good luck!
the slow feeder we use (has a weighted base so it doesn't tip over, keeps him very occupied): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08L3HLYYC?ref_=cm_sw_r_apin_dp_AKZ692QJY9YJTRTAEXR9
Yeah, some cats refuse to adjust. See my reply above, re: my old man. He never gave up the almighty quest for noms.
FYI, this is similar to the feeder we ended up getting for him years ago, when he was switched to a wet diet. It will also work for dried food.
3M makes some that are just adhesive.
We use them in our house. I will say you really need to clean the surfaces or they'll pop loose.
i had the same thing with the old lady torti at my parents. i present to you the donut of shame. i greased up the inner collar with the oinment she was supposed to use and slapped it on her. it pissed her off pretty good since shes nearly 20 and cant see very well, so she kept getting the donut snagged while walking around
You'll probably scare yourself quite a few times, but these were the only thing that kept ours off counters:

Vacuum the detectors while you're at it - most false alarms from smoke detectors are due to dust build up.
And if your smoke detector is more than ten years old you need to replace it completely. Edit down the brand name of your existing detectors or just pull one down and take it with you to the hardware store. If you get the same brand the new ones will pop right on the ceiling plate already in place so swapping them out takes only a minute. And the new ones have ten year batteries built in so you don't have to change the batteries next year - just vacuum and test them.
You can also get water alarms to put under sinks, toilets, washing machines, basement window wells, etc to let you catch water before it causes damage. There are not expensive versions that will send you wifi alerts as well.
Just an FYI if you want to save some money, there's a similar tree on Amazon that's like 1/2-1/3 the price of this tree, and it's only a little bit shorter. I bought this one and it's quite sturdy. I believe it's made by the same company.
Make sure you have your own large Philips head screwdriver though. The included one is actually awful. Made with such cheap materials that the head was actually losing material when used lol.

EBay! We were scammed, I actually ordered a litter tray shaped like a watermelon but actually wasn’t very sad when they refunded me and told me to keep this..
My cats LOVE this padded self-heating/heat-reflected bed. They also love their electric heating pad bed; I got an outdoor-friendly model because it's easier to wipe clean.
Is this the 🥕 in question? Want to get my girl one.
Here you go!
Just a little warning, it can be a little scary to pass by at night.
I use the surefeed one! It's pretty nice. We just fill their bowls, close the lids, and then it only opens for the right cat. It's expensive though. I paid about $200 CAD for each :/ . And I suggest getting alternate bowls because the plastic ones gave one of my cats acne. I found a metal bowl that works and is less than the branded one so we use those.
I was gifted one of these bad lads for my birthday and it’s honestly been one of my favorite gifts.
I have this one and it works great. I also keep the lid open. Gives her lots of room to dig around.
