Thanks for doing this, Gregg! I'm in, if you'll have me. My only book out now is Paternus, $3.99 on Amazon for eBook, but also on KU. I'd be willing to gift up to (and including) 10 to folks in the reading group, drawn randomly or some such thing, if that's kosher.
Here's the copy from Amazon: "The gods and monsters of myth have returned. In a breathtaking story that takes place in a single day, Fi and Zeke are caught up in the final battle of a war that's been waged since the dawn of time."
It may look YA, but it ain't. Been playing with other copy, maybe something like this: "The gods and monsters of myth were real. Primordial beings born of the same father. Now they're back. And so is He." Or some such crap...
Thanks, Gregg!
The book I would like to be included is Waning Hope. It is book 4, but as with the rest of the series, it can be read standalone.
Waning Hope is about the events surrounding the fall of the Hope Base ... and magic on the moon!
> Space is cold and lonely. You have to protect those around you.
> When calamity befalls the Hope Moon Base, tensions rise between the members of the crew. Martin has to do everything he can to save his team, even if it costs him his career. After all, the base may just be the one thing keeping the nations of the world at peace.
I will be adding it to other sites soon, but for now book 4 is only available at Amazon.
The series itself jumps around an era where common magic has been lost after a great world war between the gods. This has left the world fearful and defenseless against each other and new monsters roaming both land and sea. Travel and trade has all but come to a standstill, halting regrowth and advancement. The series dives into the cause, the cure, and several key events in between, involving such things as time travel, hunting cursed peoples, and the lies that history can hide.
My first book is perma-free, a subscription to my newletter will snag you my 2nd book for free as well, and all links and multiple formats can be found in the sidebar of r/KalSDavian.
I hope that I didn't go too overboard here ...

Sentinel by Chad Ballard (chadtastic112)
>Aelathil is on the brink of civil war! Once pampered and spoiled as the only heir to one of Aelathil’s most powerful lordlings, Callan’s world has been tipped upside down by King Ramsey and his mighty dragons. Now he must join the growing resistance or watch as everything his family stood for crumbles away to nothing. After her father is mauled by one of the massive lion-men of the frozen north, Pyra must do her best to hold his seat as Lord until he recovers—all while teaching herself to control the magical spark smoldering inside her. Together, Callan and Pyra will shape Aelathil’s future. For better or worse, they will stand Sentinel over the people that the King has targeted for destruction. Should they fail, Pyra’s people will be buried in the northern wastes and Callan’s family legacy will be turned to ash.
Chad has also described the book to me as:
> A fantasy novel set in an Irish/Nordic inspired setting. It revolves around Callan and Pyra, two people whose parents began a civil war with the crown. After the crown won, Callan and Pyra were left to clean up the mess.
>Along the way, they enounter mages, Paladins, mercenaries, wolf men, and the leonine Visani.

>“All who threaten me die.”
>These words made Morgan Stormrider’s reputation as one of the Phoenix Society’s deadliest IRD officers. He served with distinction as the Society’s avenger, hunting down anybody who dared kill an Adversary in the line of duty. After a decade spent living by the sword, Morgan seeks to bid a farewell to arms and make a new life with his friends as a musician.
>Regardless of his faltering faith, the Phoenix Society has a final mission for Morgan Stormrider after a dictator’s accusations make him a liability to the organization. He must put everything aside, travel to Boston, and prove he is not the Society’s assassin. He must put down Alexander Liebenthal’s coup while taking him alive.
>Despite the gravity of his task, Morgan cannot put aside his ex-girlfriend’s murder, or efforts to frame him and his closest friends for the crime. He cannot ignore a request from a trusted friend to investigate the theft of designs for a weapon before which even gods stand defenseless. He cannot disregard the corruption implied in the Phoenix Society’s willingness to make him a scapegoat should he fail to resolve the crisis in Boston without bloodshed.
>The words with which Morgan Stormrider forged his reputation haunt him still.

Souls of Astraeus by Jeramy Goble (JeramyGobleAuthor)
> SOULS OF ASTRAEUS, a SPFBO3 participant, is a metaphysical/space fantasy centered around the Astraeans, a race of semi-immortal beings with access to their millions of previous lives. Recently reviewed by r/Fantasy's own Esmerelda Weatherwax, Souls of Astraeus is the first in the completed Akallian Tales trilogy. It's filled with action, adventure, time jumping, diverse friendships, planet hopping, exotic races and abilities. Souls of Astraeus shows us how Akal, and the rest of the Astraeans, respond to increasing clues of an ancient plan to deny them their apparent reign over the multiverse.

My best starter is easily Klondaeg the Monster Hunter
Klondaeg is a simple Dwarf with a simple plan: rid the world of monsters. When he was a boy, his parents were killed by unidentified monsters, and he swore revenge against all of them. Armed with a talking battle axe with a split personality, Klondaeg travels the countryside, slaying everything from tiny werewolves to gold-devouring demons. He negates prophecies, disproves history, and even comes face to face with Acerbus, the god of darkness himself. But will he ever find the thing that killed his parents?
It's good for people who want something light and (hopefully) funny that pokes at fantasy cliches.
A Star-Reckoners Lot by Darrell Drake (darreldrake)
>Ashtadukht is a star-reckoner. The worst there's ever been. Witness her treacherous journey through Iranian legends and ancient history.
>Only a brave few storytellers still relate cautionary glimpses into the life of Ashtadukht, a woman who commanded the might of the constellations—if only just, and often unpredictably. They’ll stir the imagination with tales of her path to retribution. How, fraught with bereavement and a dogged illness, she criss-crossed Sassanian Iran in pursuit of creatures now believed mythical. Then, in hushed tones, what she wrought on that path.
Darrell has also described the book to me as:
>Persian mythology, constellation-powered magic, history of the mighty yet unsung Sassanian Iran, and a party of bickering demon hunters.
Ours Is The Storm by D. Thourson Pamler (OursIsTheStorm)
>Revik Lasivar knows he is a savior. He knows he will never be defeated. He knows he is fighting for good.
>Everything Revik Lasivar knows is a lie.

Larkspur; A Necromancer's Romance by V. M. Jaskiernia (Faustyna)
>Childhood love, forbidden magic, and a goddess of death.
>A romance is reignited when Pierre Salvador returns to court, now a surgeon and ready to take up his duties as duc. But his love, family, and friends are unaware of his dealings with Mora, the Lady of Death. Striving to know all the physical and mystical means of controlling life, and ending it, he became a suitor to the daimon in return for her knowledge and power. With one final task he will master necrocræft, but will Mora let him go?
Since this book is so short (less than 50 pages), I'd say that we bundle this with another book, and do two books in that month.

Souls of Astraeus by Jeramy Goble (JeramyGobleAuthor)
>When Akal Atka loses his wife and dies from a related horror, he is slammed into an awareness of being the owner of millions of previous lives. As he struggles to adapt to the steep learning curve of ancient reincarnation, Akal learns he is only one of many with access to his semi-immortal gift. Akal fails to do so however, and has no choice but to slow down and show his past lives the proper respect they deserve. As he grows in the wisdom of this patience, Akal develops relationships with others like him, and sets upon a path of discovery that reveals he and his comrades are not alone in their presumed authority over the multiverse.

The Facefaker's Game by Chandler J. Birch (chandlerjbirch)
>Ashes lives in Burroughside—the dirtiest, most crime-ridden district in the huge city of Teranis. His neighbors are gangs of fellow orphans, homeless madmen, and monsters that swarm the streets at nightfall. Determined to escape Burroughside, Ashes spends his days begging, picking pockets, and cheating at cards. When he draws the wrath of Mr. Ragged, Burroughside’s brutal governor, he is forced to flee for his life, only to be rescued by an enigmatic man named Candlestick Jack.
>Jack leads a group of Artificers, professional magicians who can manipulate light with their bare hands to create stunningly convincing illusions. Changing a face is as simple as changing a hat. Ashes seizes an opportunity to study magic under Jack and quickly befriends the rest of the company: Juliana, Jack’s aristocratic wife; William, his exacting business partner; and Synder, his genius apprentice. But all is not as it seems: Jack and his company lead a double life as thieves, and they want Ashes to join their next heist. Between lessons on light and illusion, Ashes begins preparing to help with Jack’s most audacious caper yet: robbing the richest and most ruthless nobleman in the city.
Chandler has also described the book to me as:
>It's a gas-lamp fantasy about Ashes, an audacious, untrusting thief who lands an apprenticeship in magic with the enigmatic Candlestick Jack, and quickly puts his burgeoning power to use in a private war with a slum lord.
>More succinctly, it's Oliver Twist, but with magic, and minus the boring parts.
