I find it slightly amusing that what seems so simple to one person, can deceive 97.5% of an audience. To start, i guessed that 85% of the audience would be able to guess what song someone taps out, however when it came to actually guessing the tune Matt was tapping...I'll admit I was completely baffled. I had absolutely no idea, and to discover only a few minutes that it was a popular and well known song made me question things. As Elizabeth Loftus stated, 2.5% of people actually guessed correctly the tune being tapped. This made me realism how naive not only I can be, but also other people can be, when it comes to trying to perceive something from another person's perspective. I believe the fundamental reason for this is because human beings are lazy in their thought processes. Daniel Kahneman wrote a book called 'Thinking, Fast and Slow' that explains why humans are so lazy with our thought processes. These are ideas are everywhere, from stereotypes to heuristics (all which psychology students know about), and too me the simple test to see whether you could recognise a tune someone else tapped served to highlight another example of how humans can be lazy in their thought processes.
